Hi, my name is Lief. I am just a normal Sixteen-year-old kid who is just two years away from graduating high school. My grades are in the middle of the pack. I have a decent number of friends. I have average parents with average jobs and we all live in an average home. Everything about me is the true definition of average, except for one thing. And I think this one thing is the main reason why my life has been crazy ever since I reached the age of sixteen.

It all started at the start of my sixteenth birthday, 00:00.

I am finally sixteen! I know that it is a bit sad that I am celebrating the first minute of my birthday all by myself but who cares?

Here in our country, The Republic of Lebel, sixteen is the legal age. That means that I am officially an adult! I can do a lot of things that I have always wanted to do.

I already planned on celebrating my birthday at this time which is why I bought a Chocolate Cake for myself. I lit up the candles and prepared myself.

As I was about to blow the candles, I forgot to do something.

"Right! Forgot to make a wish!"

Let see, what should I wish for?

Now that I think about it, I have been living a very average life.

I have no hobbies.

I have not experienced having a relationship.

I do not excel in anything.

I am not rich neither poor.

I am not smart but not dumb as well.

I am basically the most average person in the world.

And my wish for this birthday is to maintain my average life. I am hoping that no extreme events will occur for the rest of my life. No changes in my life, please!!!

Since this is my first birthday in my adult life, I believe that my wish will come true.

I closed my eyes and reiterated my wish in my mind. After that that I blew the candles on the top of my cake.

*BLOW*

"What the heck?!?!?"

As soon as the fire on the candles was extinguished by the air that came from my mouth, a huge amount of smoke suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

What the hell?! Where is this smoke coming from?! As far as I know, the candles that I bought weren't this powerful. They were tiny and plain. Why is this happening?

*COUGH* *COUGH*

The smoke enveloped my entire room in a flash. I can barely see anything other than foggy smoke that is making me cough like crazy.

What the hell is going on?

As soon as I wished for my life to be normal and plain, I am suddenly in a situation that is definitely not normal and plain.

I have to do something or else I will suffocate to death.

I stood up from my chair and immediately tried to escape my room but I froze when I heard something.

"LIEF! Can you hear me?!"

What the heck? Now I am hearing things. I turned my head around to see if there is actually someone speaking and I can vaguely see a silhouette of an old man. Now I am hallucinating as well, great. What a great way to celebrate my sixteenth birthday.

I ignored all of the craziness that is inside my brain and proceed with my plan of escape but once again, I heard the voice from earlier.

"Lief, I know that you can hear me. Why are you ignoring me?"

Okay, now I am getting scared.

Was I not hallucinating or hearing things earlier?

Was there actually a voice and an old man?

Is that old man a ghost?

If so, then why is he talking to me?

Now I am starting to regret my birthday wish.

That was probably the reason why I am in this situation. I jinxed my life by wishing for an average and normal life. Now I am suffering.

Oh well, I might as well talk to the ghost and see what is going on.

I gathered all of my courage and turned around.

All of a sudden, the smoke that was filling up the entire room disappeared. All that is left is me and the Ghost old man.

Damn, I am supposed to be super scared and frightened by now but I guess I became numb after all that fuss that occurred earlier.

"Wh… What…? Who…? Who are you?"

I stuttered so bad which means I am still so scared right now.

"*CLEARS THROAT* My name is Reverend and I am the Chancellor of the Otherworld. I came here with a reason, Lief."

Otherworld? I have never heard of that place before? Is this some kind of a country or nation? Or is it literally another world?

"O… Ok… Why… Why are you here… Reverend?"

Even though I am still stuttering, I was still able to deliver. I hope that this ghost old man understood my question.

"Lief, you are the reincarnation of the Ruler of the Otherworld and you are destined to be the ruler of this world!"

I am what?!?!?

"Wh… What did you just say?!"

"Let me repeat what I said. You are the reincarnation of the Ruler of the Otherworld and it is your destiny to rule this world as well. I came here personally because your former self was my liege and it is my duty to nurture the next in line and lead him to the path of greatness. Rejoice, Lief! You are now enlightened to your true self!!!"

I am so lost and confused right now. Did he just said that I am the reincarnation of his king or something and I am destined to be the ruler of this world as well?!?! Talk about crazy words.

After hearing the nonsense that this old man is talking about, my fear suddenly turned into disbelief.

"Did you seriously think that I would believe everything that did you just said?! All of those do not make sense! You can now leave! My birthday is now ruined because of your nonsense, ghost old man!"

Unexpectedly, the old man just laughed.

"HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! I was at first doubting myself if you are actually the reincarnation of my king but after witnessing your response, I am now sure! That sassy attitude surely came from and belongs to my liege! You are the one! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!"

Dammnit! This old man is persistent! I better think of a plan so that he can now go away! I am sure that he is the source of the unfortunate events earlier and if he sticks around with me, my future is definitely not peaceful or normal!

"If you are saying that I am the reincarnation of your king or something, why don't you prove it?!"

I stared at him with determination and it seems like he is not backing off.

"I already knew that you are going to say that, Lief. You are so alike to my liege. I know that you have been living a very average life in this world, right?"

"That is correct, which is why there is no way that I am the reincarnation of a ruler of your place or whatever."

"Hmm… You are definitely the one. My liege also started as a very average man, but under his average life, he has something different that no one else in the otherworld has. That distinct feature is also something that you possess, Lief."

Distinct Feature? Do I have something in me that is different from others? As far as I know, I am the plainest man in the world.

"What do you mean by that?!"

"What I am trying to say is that back in our world, my liege has one thing in him that no one else has. That also applies to you. You have something that no one else has in this world and I am sure that you are aware of what I am referring to."

Aware?! I am definitely not aware! I have no clue what is he talking about.

"Should I give you a clue?"

I immediately replied. I am so curious right now!

"Yes! What is this thing that I have?!!"

"Hmm… Let see… You just turned sixteen today, right? But I know that Sixteen is not your real age. Your real age is four. Do you understand now?"

Sixteen? Real Age? Wait, don' tell me-!!

"Looks like you have finally figured it out. Let us make things formal, shall we? *CLEARS THROAT*

My name is Reverend, the Chancellor of the Otherworld. I am here to declare that I have finally found the next Ruler of this world. His name is Lief and he lives in the Republic of Lebel. He is confirmed to be the reincarnation of the King of the Otherworld because he was born on the date of February 29 in the year 2029, which gives him the number 02/29/2029. In this entire world, he is the only man that is born on that date thus confirming his true identity. Lief! You hereby granted the gifts from your previous lives because you are going to need all of these to achieve your end goal, World Domination!!!"

I once lived a life filled with peace and harmony.

Those days are all over during my sixteenth birthday.

Now my life is filled with nothing but chaos.

I am also forced to fulfill this some kind of destiny of mine even though I do not have any ambition on doing so.

My birthday wish was granted, just the direct opposite of it though.

This is the start of my very eventful life.

NOTE: Hey guys! D_EIRIC here! I hope that y'all like my news series about the life of Lief! To be honest, I already planned a story about the main character born on a leap year and after a long overdue, I finally did it! I am actually born in a leap year as well, February 29. For those of you that do not know what a leap year is, every four years there is a day added in February which makes it 29 days, and that specific date is the day I was born. Anyways, this story is going to be different from my previous story and I am hoping that you are going to appreciate it!
