Gu Mingzhu looked at Yan Jingcheng with reddened eyes, wishing she could scratch that handsome face of his.
Keep calm, keep smiling!
She tried to force a smile, but it just wouldn't come.
Coldly, Gu Mingzhu glared at Yan Jingcheng, her pretty face flushed with anger. "Fourth Young Master, if you want to kill me, go ahead. But have you seen this?"
She raised her hand, pinching a tiny section between her thumb and forefinger, holding it up to Yan Jingcheng's face.
Yan Jingcheng squinted, asking, "What?"
With a triumphant smile, Gu Mingzhu exclaimed, "Your conscience!"
Yan Jingcheng paused for a moment before bursting into laughter.
The man with his cold fair skin and sharp features had a touch of laziness and roguishness. His laughter made him seem warm and inviting, and his beautiful dark eyes sparkled, captivating and dazzling.
Gu Mingzhu was momentarily distracted by his laughter, cursing internally. Such a cunning man with such a deceiving face.
She pushed past him towards the sofa, full of anger.
She had already been used by him, and now he wanted her to grovel in front of him?
What kind of sin was this? She was so irritated just looking at him!
Gu Mingzhu had made up her mind. If worst came to worst, she would just die. Each day was a day lived, and she wouldn't cater to him anymore!
Yan Jingcheng turned to look at her, his lips curling into a smirk at her defiant attitude.
He pulled out a cigarette from his pack, eyes glancing over the coat she wore, which belonged to Xu Xinghe. "You're close with Xu Xinghe?"
Gu Mingzhu hesitated for a moment, her guard up. Why was he asking?
Yan Jingcheng lit his cigarette, his dark eyes fixed on Gu Mingzhu. "I heard Xu Xinghe recently acquired two batches of wood, one of red sandalwood and the other of red sourwood."
At his words, Gu Mingzhu's mind buzzed. Her crossed legs relaxed involuntarily.
She looked at Yan Jingcheng, saying nothing, unsure if he had seen through her plans.
But Yan Jingcheng just smoked his cigarette, watching her with amusement, patiently waiting.
Gu Mingzhu felt her throat tighten, forcing a calm smile. "The redwood market has been booming in recent years. It's no surprise he wants a piece of the pie."
Yan Jingcheng chuckled, clearly not believing her.
The room fell silent once more, the hazy smoke veiling the man's stern face. He leaned back on the sofa, taking a drag from his cigarette. Only his dark, intense eyes seemed to see right through her.
Yan Jingcheng took another drag, raising an eyebrow, his sharp gaze fixed on Gu Mingzhu. "I think someone is trying to set a trap at the casino to sell that batch of red sandalwood to Yang Shihao."
At his words, Gu Mingzhu's breath hitched, her throat constricting.
She stared at those dark, piercing eyes, her limbs cold, her heart pounding in her throat.
This man was terrifying. She had only won against Yang Shihao in the casino, and he had already connected her to Xu Xinghe, seeing through her plans. His insight was uncanny.
No wonder no one dared to oppose him. With such a mind at his age, coupled with his ruthless methods and strong family background, he commanded respect.
Gu Mingzhu looked up at Yan Jingcheng, feeling like crying. She wondered if she could take back what she had said earlier...
