Chapter 18: Hitting the Wrong Target
While Gu Mingzhu was walking outside, she called Xu Xingbai.
"Gu Mingzhu, where the hell have you been? Do you know I've been waiting outside the nightclub all night?" Xu Xingbai yelled angrily. After staying up all night, his eyes were dark and there were signs of his meticulously styled hair being disheveled.
Hearing the raging voice from the phone, Gu Mingzhu moved the phone away from her ear, "If Xinghe wasn't watching, why did you stay up all night?"
Xu Xingbai sneered, "You should know that Xinghe has always been obsessed with you. He almost turned the nightclub upside down waiting for you. I was freezing outside all night!"
Listening to her complain, Gu Mingzhu felt a warmth in her heart and said gently, "I drank too much yesterday and aggravated my gastric condition. A 'kind-hearted person' took me to the hospital."
Xu Xingbai paused for a moment, then sighed in relief, "You scared me. If I hadn't been keeping an eye on Zhang Zhihong, I would have thought that old pervert had taken advantage of you."
Before she could respond, Xu Xingbai remembered something, "Did you forget to take the stomach medicine I bought for you last time?"
Thinking about it made Gu Mingzhu's head ache. Just as she was about to come up with an excuse, she heard a cold laugh from the other end of the line, "Heh, let's see what excuse you come up with."
Gu Mingzhu: "..."
She had always hated taking medicine and would usually endure as long as she could. Her gastric condition had worsened over time, so Xu Xingbai had recently gone to great lengths to buy some good medicine for her from abroad. Unfortunately, she had 'forgotten' where she left it.

Mentioning Gu Chaoxia, Gu Mingzhu's eyes also turned colder, "It's good if she plans to snatch it, I just hope she doesn't."
"Speaking of which, several of Zhang Zhihong's men were beaten badly last night, apparently someone trapped them in sacks and even broke one of their hands." Xu Xingbai's eyes gleamed, looking eager for chaos.
"Beaten?"

Gu Mingzhu paused, her throat tightening, recalling Yan Jingcheng's words from last night.
"What's wrong? Do you know who did it?" Xu Xingbai asked.
Instead of answering, Gu Mingzhu changed the subject, "I heard Yang Huiru's younger brother frequents the casino. I'm planning to visit him in the next few days."
Hearing her mention the casino, Xu Xingbai furrowed his brows but remained silent.
Realizing what she was worried about, Gu Mingzhu said gently, "It's been four years, everything's fine."
Seeing her determination, Xu Xingbai stopped worrying and started getting excited, "Xiao Zhu Zhu, are you planning to wreak havoc?"
Hearing this, a hint of a smile appeared in Gu Mingzhu's eyes, "Yes, to make up for you waiting outside all night."
Xu Xingbai didn't care what her reasons were. After all, Gu Mingzhu hadn't set foot in a casino for four years. Thinking about her 'unbelievably good luck,' Xu Xingbai felt he was on the verge of a winning streak in life.
