“Is that your answer?” Ollie asks neutrally.

Ingel chuckles. “No, of course not.” He stops, clearly hunting for the right words. “I suppose it depends on how you define responsibility.”

“How do youdefine it?” Ollie’s expression hasn’t changed but Wes knows that Ingel just confessed. If they know about the disappearances and it’s only a matter of nuance, that’s it. The only thing left is finding out why.

Was Ingel so unbalanced by his advisor’s question that he didn’t realize that he just admitted guilt? But not truly. This is probably the answer Ingel wanted them to reach. Was the argument they wanted to make limited to a discussion about the relativity of responsibility? Because right now, it sounds like an excuse.

Whatever it is, Wes can’t pay too much attention. If anything, all the confession does is fill him with urgency. When their conversation is over, he’s out of time. So, he tries again.
