How Joyful We Are

【Weekends won't be updated in the following serial period due to being overbusy in real life. — 18/04/2024】 "We did not meet at the peak, we arrived there together." - The tradition at A's First High School's opening ceremony includes selecting a "mystery box", and the chosen student will speak as the representative of the senior class. This year's representative is Meng Yin, whom nobody knows. Clearing her throat, Yin looked at the crowd below and introduced herself, "Hi everyone, I am Meng Yin, a new transfer student from Class 2 of the senior year. My pledge for senior year is to work hard and catch up with Xu Zhiyi. I also hope he continues to strive for excellence and bring glory to our class." At the school, anyone familiar with Xu knows he has a cherished keychain, which mysteriously disappeared after Yin transferred. As Yin realized that "Xu Zhiyi was never her light, but a comrade walking by her side," she also caught a glimpse of his concealment towards her. Tears streamed down her chin, Yin gazed at Zhiyi and said, "Xu Zhiyi, you will die if you like me for a moment!" He knew she misunderstood. Zhiyi closed the distance between them, and pulled her in his arms, stroking her back. At seventeen, he embraced the weeping Yin in such a vulnerable manner and felt the entire world trembling around them. His chin lightly rested on the top of Yin's head as he softly spoke, "I have long been lying at the bottom of your pit." The keychain is you, Wushipai is you, and that wood still belongs to you. The mistake of that summer was without regret in this winter.

Chapter 19.2| Unknown stories

One of the things that makes Xu Zhiyi stand out is his enviable family life, which is truly harmonious and fulfilling. As a wealthy second-generation individual who grew up in a relatively less sheltered environment compared to most, he was born with what others might call a "silver spoon," yet he still had to tackle tasks that were necessary but not always pleasant. Most of the time, he decides how to navigate through each stage of his life, facing the changes of the vast world alongside his personal growth.

From the age of eight until now, there has only been one occasion when Xu Zhiyi asked his father about the psychological process of falling in love with his mother. Upon hearing this question from his beloved son, he patted Zhiyi's shoulder with a smile, then cryptically remarked, "My son is growing up."

This incident inadvertently became known to both Xu and Xing's families.

Xu deeply regrets the day he entered his father's study. However, Xiuze knew about Zhiyi's emotional state during that period.

Developing feelings for someone is a complex issue, and at that time, Xu Zhiyi was unsure if his feelings were based on admiration or stemmed from innocent emotions.

Just as Xu Zhiyi later discovered through self-reflection, not everything came easy to him. He experienced confusion and encountered challenges, realizing that some things were not straightforward and that he would face difficulties.

R3-T6 is the seat of Xu Zhiyi when Meng Yin took over the front table of him.

The first week Xu Zhiyi changed to the front table, Xing Xiuze noticed.

Not only did he notice, but he also teased him, saying, "I heard the chubby one in front of you left, and a girl came instead?"

Before Meng Yin, Xu Zhiyi's front table was a chubby boy who didn't get along well with Xing Xiuze, always sweating and noisy.

Xing Xiuze didn't pay much attention to Meng Yin until one day when he went to play games with Xu Zhiyi and found him silently writing down the key points of each chapter in physics with a new notebook.

Xu Zhiyi was still a "simple and naive" boy at that time. Xiuze asked him what he was doing, and Zhiyi replied, "The student in front of me is not good at physics, I promised to help her out a bit."

Xiuze immediately concluded that there must be something fishy going on!

Later, he found a chance to meet Meng Yin who sat in front of Xu Zhiyi.

She was pretty, not stunning, but strangely comforting.

And it was only after seeing Yin's true face that he realized – the girl in front of them was the one they often saw in the cafeteria, always sweetly asking the auntie for more of her favourite dishes!

From then on, Xiuze always teased her when she was eyeing the tomato scrambled eggs and braised pork with tiger skin eggs, preparing to attack the cafeteria auntie. Soon after, Meng Yin, another female classmate, and he would eat together.

Xiuze could see through Zhiyi's thoughts and schemes clearly.

Teenage crushes often have no special reason, whether it's because of a perfect smile, a timely turn, or a sudden palpitation in a moment. Whether it's an emotional impulse in a moment or emotional collisions in daily interactions, they are like stars, forever occupying a special place.

Except for school, Zhiyi and Yin occasionally review together at the city library. There was a period when there were rumours about them on campus, but neither of them paid attention or avoided suspicion. It was during that time that Xiuze noticed Zhiyi and Yin had formed a barrier when they were together. Their interaction was not much different from that of good friends; however, when discussing a certain exercise or sharing their opinions on certain matters, others simply couldn't join in.

Xing Xiuze didn't intervene much either.

As a long-time friend of Xu Zhiyi, the Xu Zhiyi he knew was still confident and sharp, yet he also displayed a youthful side - full of enthusiasm yet as calm as water.

Xu Zhiyi liked Meng Yin, a fact that was evident to onlookers.

Until they graduated and entered high school, Zhiyi never revealed his feelings to Yin, and they always maintained a distance he considered good friends.

Xiuze had once teased Xu Zhiyi after graduation in that summer, asking why he still couldn't figure out his feelings for Meng Yin. Xu Zhiyi replied, "I like her, but now is not the time to confess." After Meng Yin failed the entrance exam for high school, and following the graduation ceremony, before he could speak to her, she disappeared.
