Chapter 6 (Awakening ritual and decision)

I was breathing steadily as I stared at the referee jump to the stage holding Masashi's unconscious body.

"The winner is Himeko and she will advance to the the finals!" He announced as he handed Masashi to her worried parents who had rushed to the stage.

I walked to my surprised parents and threw a smile at them. They congratulated me and I sat in my seat.

The next match was as expected the boy named Hihashi won. In the finals against him I didn't use my full power. After sometime I easily overwhelmed him and won. After the finals people had lunch were my parents were showered with compliments by others.

After lunch the Awakening Ceremony now really began.

Firstly kids were told how to activate their byakugan and were given scrolls with the hand seals and technique to activate it. After that they were required to put a drop of their blood in a weird liquid. Each one of us were given a transparent cup with the liquid.

We had to wait for night and only under the full moon would the changes show. The brighter the color of gold your blood would shine the higher the concentration of Hyūga blood one had.

Under the moon we stood and a very old Hyūga lady approached us and started chanting. Our parents were sitting the seats around the arena like before. We were in the middle of the of the arena under the moon.

When the old lady finished chanting, a man wearing an expensive robe stood before us and activated his byakugan and started doing hand seals(signs) for two minutes straight very fast that l couldn't keep up with my eyes.

He started to glow slightly under the moon and our cups started to glow gold. Each cup different from the other. Mine, Hisashi, Hihashi and Masashi were glowing brighter than others. Hihashi's cup glowed the brightest following by mine and Masashi glowing evenly bright and then Hisashi's glowing slightly low than ours.

And after a few minutes the cups stopped glowing and the contents of the cup had all vanished. After that we went to our parents and the ceremony ended.

The branch family kids were given their curse marks. The process wasn't painful at all.

I returned home with my parents were they congratulated me and they were both very happy. After that I went to bed. Looking at the ceiling I decided it was time for me to go to the academy to finally start my ninja life. The Hyūga taijutsu was powerful and all but I wasn't going to specialize in it like all the other Hyūga. I was going to try ninjutsu since the Hyūga weren't adapt at genjutsu. After that I slept not knowing what was happening in the clan that very night.

...…Himeko's mother's POV...…

After Himeko went to sleep we stayed awake for some time. I heard a knock on my window and went to check it. I saw a Hyūga clan raven with a letter in its beak. I took the letters and read it.

"Honey come here!" I shouted as I saw the contents of the letter.

After a few minutes my husband and I took off towards the Elders hall. We open the big wooden door and saw all the elders waiting for us and Masashi's parents were also present.

"We are here to decide who will become Hihashi's wife between your two daughters" said an elder nonchalantly when he saw us settled down.

Masashi's mother quickly said " our daughter would be honored to"

I remained quiet and watched the elders behavior. They started discussing something and looked at me.

"What about you?" One of the elders asked me.

"We'll leave that decision to our daughter" I answered respectfully.

"Go bring her here" said an elder to a guard, who instantly flickered away.

A few minutes later my daughter Himeko was brought. She looked confused as she came into my eyes.

"Child, do you want to become the mistress of the Hyūga clan. There will be lots of benefits." An elder asked my daughter.

She looked like she was thinking a lot about the answer. And after what felt like an eternity of suspense she answered.

"No...."
