22 Exploration

Hermione and I wave our hands to the people in the village. Today is the day we go explore this world. The village chief is kind enough to give us some supplies like dried meat and bread for us to eat. He also gave us some pocket money of five silver coins for each of us.

That makes our money up to one gold and ten silver coins.

After we get far enough from the village, we begin to fly to our destination. On our way to our destination, I saw something that caught my attention.

"Hermione, do you see that?"

Hermione saw where I pointed my finger and nodded her head.

"Yes. I can see six Orcs walking in the forest."

"Do you want to fight them? Silia-Tu said that Orc meat is delicious and very nutritious."

"You will cook them?"

Hermione perks up when she hears it. I smile a little and nod my head. Faery Feast is really something, huh.

"Then let us hunt them down."

A second later, we go down for a little bit and begin to attack the poor orc. I'm the first one opening the assault.

"Eldritch Blast!"

Two lasers of doom appear from my hand and hit one of the orcs. Seeing the orc did not die immediately, Hermione immediately cast a spell to finish the monster.

"Bousculade de Lave"

After Hermione says that, a pillar made of lava appears from the ground and burns the orcs.

"Woah there! Did not burn them up, Hermione! We need to take their meat, remember?"

"Oh right!"

With that being said, Hermione disables her spell, and I can see the first orc did not survive the attack and died from it. The others survive, but I can see the lava burns their bodies.

"Eldritch Blast!"

"Lame de Vent!"

I cast another eldritch blast and hit the Orc in my left while Hermione cast a wind blade. My spell hit the injured orc and killed it. Hermione's spell, on the other hand, creates a great gash in the Orc neck.

"Lame de Vent!"

Seeing her target did not die, she cast another spell, and this time, the Orc lost its head. I create a ring of fire around the Orc neck and use it to cut its neck. I let my fire move at fast speed, and slowly but surely, it cut the Orc's neck.

Seeing its friend die one by one, the other Orc began to run away to the forest. I cast another Eldritch blast and hit one of the Orcs. When I see it fall to the ground, I conjure an earth spike and pierce the neck of the Orcs.

Both Hermione and I slowly get down. When we reach the ground, I cast a detection spell for a few seconds before nodding my head. There are no monsters around us.

"Hermione, secure the area, will you? I will try to dismantle this orc."

"Of course, master."

Seeing Hermione creating a barrier around the area, I looked at our loot and cast a spell to butcher the orc. I use a blade made of wind and begin to cut it into pieces. I'm fortunate to have Faerie Feast. Not only cooking, but it also gives me knowledge and experience to butcher a monster like this Orc.

It takes a few minutes to butcher all of the Orcs, and the only thing I did not take is the head and the innard where I burned it down. After butchering the orc, I store most of the meat inside the trunk we bring with us and make a campfire.

~Two hours later~

With our belly filled up, we continue our journey to the city near the dungeon. While flying through the sky, I look at Hermione and say.

"Hey, Hermione"

"Hmmm? What is it, master?"

"Do you think Hogwart still exists in your world?"

"I… don't know to be honest. I only hear that the bomb only attacks Diagon Alley, but I think Voldemort picks Hogwart as his first target if what I read is true."

Hmmm. I don't think that's true. I think Voldy boy thinks of Hogwarts as his birthright treasure. He thinks that Hogwarts is his property and something that he owns. However, there is a high chance that he did not care about Hogwart because he did not hesitate to tear Hogwart apart just to kill Harry.

"Do you still remember the exact location of Hogwart? I think I want to explore it."

"I'm sorry, but I did not know the location of Hogwarts. I think some people back home know the location."

"Very well, I think I will ask them later."

I nod my head at her and say.

"How about the rescue operation? How many people have you found?"

"The rescue team only found ten people so far, and they are badly injured and radiated. Lucky for them, our magic can cure them of the radiation and mutations that start to appear."

"What kind of mutation?"

"It affects their body and brain. It makes them like zombies. When the mutation reaches a certain level, they do not feel any more pain and have a carving of human flesh. However, unlike zombies, they still need to eat because their body is still human, and the longer they do not eat, they will die eventually."

"How do you know that?"

"We have a people that mutated inside the bunker, and because of that, we need to put them down before they can kill all of us."

"Can't you just cure them?"

"Sadly, no. Once they reach that stage, we cannot cure them. Even though we can restore their body to its normal state, their soul has already departed to the higher plane."

"You mean that once they reach that stage, they are dead?"

"Yes. The only reason why their body is still functioning is because of the mutation. The radiation keeps their brain functioning even though the souls are already gone. So, once we cure the mutated human, they are nothing but a corpse."

I guess that is why Yuni says that their world will become an empty world in a few years. With no more humans to eat, they will die from starvation. As for the uninfected human… They will also die from starvation. With Gaia having enough and taking the magic of the world, the wizard that is still alive cannot grow the plant any longer.

With all the plant cannot grow without a steady supply of mana to keep it alive, the normal human will be dead faster.

"I see a city, master!"

I snap from my thoughts when I hear Hermione shouting something. I looked at where she pointed her finger and saw a city in the distance. The city is big but not too big. A massive wall surrounds it. I think the wall is around thirty-one meters tall.

"We cannot descend near the city. Let's get down inside the forest near the city."
