The moment the question left Rosa's lips, Sophia felt an ocean of space form between them.
How was Sophia doing?
Just over a month before, she had thought that she and Rosa were getting closer to one another. They reached a level of friendship outside of the bakery. The trust they had in one another seemed unshakeable.
However, in the past month, Sophia had been learning so much about herself that made her seem so far from everyone she knew.
For someone she wanted to let in so badly to ask how she was doing, Sophia had to distance herself. She knew that Rosa would never understand her plight. She could never understand what it was like to be completely violated by someone's pheromones.
At Sophia's silence, Rosa's dark eyes widened and she let go of the other woman's hands so she could offer her a hug instead.
