Excerpt: His lips left her neck only long enough to say, “If the invisible scars he left don't disappear now, I'll keep trying again and again until they do. Soon your body will know only me.” Her eyes were still swollen from her previous tears, but they began to water again for a far different reason than before. She tried to pull away and hide her face from him. “Promise me,” she uttered. “Promise me I'll never be in the same room as him ever again.” His fist clenched and he had to control his anger. Pit of Hell

The large skyscrapers became oldtown, oldtown became old townhouses, they jumped the river to the slums, then found themselves in an industrial area with a lot of abandoned buildings and an old shipping yard.

Vince cared so little about his son's healing that they didn't even ride in the same car as they went forward. Luca had a personal driver and so did he. He didn't know why he would put himself in an undesirable situation like having to bear an entire 40-minute car ride next to him when he was oozing pheromones.

As they stepped out of the cars, they were met with the smell of the salty coast mixed with metal and oil. The place was dilapidated but, as they got closer, Luca realized it was far from abandoned.

The men entering and exiting the building were no doubt thugs. Some had guns tucked into their waistbands or in holsters. Some had knives. They all had visible scars as well.

Luca was glad he brought the gun with him.
