Excerpt: His lips left her neck only long enough to say, “If the invisible scars he left don't disappear now, I'll keep trying again and again until they do. She tried to pull away and hide her face from him. “Promise me,” she uttered. “Promise me I'll never be in the same room as him ever again.” His fist clenched and he had to control his anger. His Secrecy

"Annie, slow down," Sophia said as she listened to the desperate gulps of a baby pretending she was starved despite having only eaten a couple of hours before.

Sophia lay in bed with her daughter, the baby cradled in her elbow as she fed her from her body.

Anita was three months old and Sophia finally felt more stable. She had a good routine and their daughter was starting to sleep through the night.

The baby had dark hair like her father and green eyes like her mom. She was a perfect piece of both of them.

With Anita sleeping longer stretches Sophia was feeling more rested. While Luca did help her through the night, only she could feed her daughter. The former mafia man was much more attuned to lack of sleep than she was.

Despite their comfortable schedule, something was bothering Sophia.
