When Rachel said she was wary of parties, especially the ones focused on her, she had a good reason to be. It was as if all elite parties were cursed to have one problem or the other. But today, especially, she was shocked beyond words and could not process everything that was happening at the same time, especially with Noah.
For Peter, however, she was beyond pissed. Maybe if she could hit him the same way Debby had, maybe the anger she felt inside her was going to subside.
She could see the sad and pitiful looks of everyone who felt pity for her about her birthday party being ruined. Resigned, she went back to the living room, which was awfully quiet with everyone staring at her as she passed.
She reached for a glass of wine on the tray a waiter held and took a big gulp before she returned the glass and went to the place that served as the stage while adjusting the mic on her blazer.
