Sam was completely dry, the puddle of water on the ground was gone, leaving her dumbfounded. She looked around her surroundings, and Sam noticed that she wasn't in the same spot as before. Sam's empathy ability known as Musica Conductors allowed her to perceive the wavelengths and frequency of the souls of living things, and thanks to it, Sam was able to see the emotions of any living being around. It allowed her to recognize someone just by their soul. So Sam could tell that she wasn't in the same location as before. Something moved towards her at a fast pace. She barely sensed it, moving her body out of the way as a swordfish cut through her right arm. The swordfish entered a circle gateway of water in the air as it closed. And then more gates opened, and shark-like creatures shoved out of it like a bullet. Sam began to move, running and dodging all the shark monster's attacks. Four water gates opened in front of her, eel-like monsters sprouting out of them, their fanged mouth striking at Sam. Sam's fists shot out smacking them away from her. Her fist whistled through the air, pounding the creature's flesh into mush. Sam caught one of the eels by its mouth and smacked it against the ground, its eyeballs popping out with blood. The gore of her action nearly made Sam throw up but she held it in as the adrenaline pushed her into taking action. Sam kept running, trying to find a place to rest and analyze the situation. As she ran past a huge tree, she felt the vibration in the air moving towards her, two swordfish appeared in her mental eye. She turned around and caught one of the fish's elongated bills while she moved her head away to dodge the other one. The swordfish's bill hit the huge tree with so much force that it fell. Sam stared at the tree that the fish attack had uprooted. If one of those things hit her she was done for. She sprinted off, trying to find a place to act as a cover. She needed a chance to analyze the situation that she found herself in. Six more gates opened before her, and Sam's feet dragged through the ground as she tried to turn around and go back. But then two eel monsters were flying behind her.

Damn it! What's going on? Is this some kind of test? Am I being tested?

Sam ran towards her right, in the direction of where lots of huge trees were gathered together, seeking a hiding spot. As Sam ran, one of her legs stepped on another fake puddle that had manifested there. Sam felt a chill as she looked down at the gate. Something was moving underneath the water, heading towards the surface. it all happened so fast. One minute one of Sam's legs touched the surface, then the massive creature broke out of it at the same time, its huge open mouth filled with large fangs closed around Sam's waist. Blood gushed everywhere as the monster bit down on her. Meanwhile, watching Sam struggle, hidden behind a wall of grass, were two figures, both wearing the same battle gear beneath the black cloak they wore. Their bodies conjoined together. It was Sinutu and Anuntium, the twin Assassin that Mallus had sent after Sam.

"It's over," Anuntium said.

"No, it's not, idiot," Sinutu said. He had sensed the reverberation in the Odyllic and knew that something strange had happened. In front of them was a big cube-shaped monitor that was transmitting the fight with Sam through the Observer that was following Sam. "It's a fake," The blood that had gushed out from Sam being bitten disappeared along with the torn body of Sam. Sinutu realized what the girl had done, shocked at the level of skill she had displayed. Anuntium realized it too late, unable to comprehend how a girl who only started learning about Mystic art weeks ago, could have executed such movements. At the moment when the monster's mouth had been closing in on Sam, she had quickly activated the second footwork of the Adamantium's first form. Rhythm Echo. And not just that. Sam's improvement of the Odic skin technique had come a long way since her time with Emanu, to the point that Sam could now perform one of the Body enhancement techniques of the Mystic arts. At the same time she was performing Rhythm Echo, Sam had activated the Rapid step technique. It was a technique that boosted the speed of the user making them able to move so fast that it appeared like they had teleported. In addition to rhythm echo which uses sound waves to speed up one's footwork, Sam's use of the Rapid step for the first time had achieved a maximum speed that was almost equal to Leon's level of speed. She had left behind an afterimage clone of herself which had gotten bitten. Rhythm echo was a footwork technique meant to distract one's opponent, and Sam had used that chance to not only get out of danger, but she had bought a reprieve for herself. Sam was aware of the device that had been following her. So she knew her enemy was hiding somewhere watching her through the monitor device that was flying above her. On top of one of the branches of the huge, tall tree, Sam placed her right palm on the tree, closing her eyes as she concentrated. She was still exhausted mentally from using both the Rhythm echo and Rapid step together, the amount of Od she had was nearly gone. Sam knew she had to find her attacker if she wanted to end this fight as quickly as possible. With the First form, Sam's field of awareness expanded. Waves of sound moved through the Odyllic, vibrations bouncing off each object within the vicinity of Sam. Sam could feel the melodies of the souls of all living things, their wavelength revealing their emotions. And then Sam grasped on the murderous feeling that was directed towards her. It came from two beings, two souls with a body that was joined together. Sam had analyzed her opponent's attack. She had concluded that the water portal that was summoning those monsters was neither a mystic art technique nor an Arcane art technique. Mystic art dealt with using Od to enhance the physical capabilities of the body and using energy-based attacks while Arcane art used Od to perform magic. These portals weren't materialized through any of those arts. So Sam concluded that it was a bloodline ability. An ability that could transport things using water as a medium and summon aquatic monsters. The problem now was if the portals and the summoned fish were the same technique or were both different powers. Sinutu realized what Sam was doing, and then he responded quickly. He slapped his hands together, his Odic flow circulating towards his fingers. Od gathered around the tip of his fingers, generating a dense field of spiritual aura around him.

[ Piercing finger-Extension Beam] Sinutu released the Spiritual aura technique, a tiny beam of blue light shot out of the tip of his fingers, traveling at the speed of sound. Sam felt the movement of the Odyllic, sensing the coming of the attack. She opened her eyes in time to see a blue beam coming towards her. Before Sam could do anything, the beam pierced her left shoulder, pushing her off the branch. As Sam fell, a gate of water appeared below her. She entered the gate, blood gushing out of her shoulder. The pain was intense, but she tried her best to fight against it as she swam quickly to the surface before it closed. Sam enhanced her leg's muscles, emitting Od from it to push herself out before it closed. Anuntium clicked his mouth as Sam came out of his gate before it closed.

"She's good," Sinutu said. He noticed that Sam had used another Body enhancement technique, Skywalk, to save herself.

"We'll need to take it up a notch then," Anuntium said. Sam couldn't help but gasp as her left shoulder hurt. If she hadn't moved just a little, that beam of light would have pierced her heart killing her on the spot. Her wound was very close to her heart, which made it very damaging as she was bleeding badly. And not just that, she felt something burning within her core. She tried to channel Od from the Odyllic, but her Odic force wouldn't respond. Sam's body swayed, as she spat blood. She had been poisoned. Whatever that beam attack had been, it had been mixed with poison. A poison that neutralized one's Odic force. Now Sam only had access to the limited Od that was flowing through her. She took off her vambrace, hoodie and the shirt underneath her hoodie. She used the shirt to tie up the wound around her shoulder, trying to stop the bleeding. She tied it extra hard as blood stained her shirt. She was exhausted. Her body felt heavy, pain radiated throughout her body, and Sam could barely move. If they were to attack her at this moment, there would be nothing she could do to defend herself. She wore back her hoodie to cover up herself, and then her shield.

So this is what real combat is like? Sam thought. In her fight against the golems, Sam experienced combat for the first time. She had adjusted, adapting to it pretty fast. It had been unusual for someone who had never been in a fight before. And yet Sam had no problem doing it. But this... this was different from that situation. Though she had felt pressure from the golems, deep down in the back of her mind, she knew she would be alright. But now, Sam felt a primal fear gnawing at her core. An instinct that she had felt once before in her life rose again. Fear. Fear of dying. Sam was in a life and death situation, right now close to the side of death as her body shivered from a cold that came out of nowhere. If Sam did nothing, she would cross the line between being alive and being dead. Right now, she was struggling, fighting to stay alive despite the feeling of death bearing down on her. The darkness was there, it's whispering beckoning her to stop fighting, stop struggling, and let them do what they wanted to do to her. Sam was familiar with this train of thought. It was the same feeling she had when she tried to kill herself last year. Something she had deeply regretted. She remembered how she had felt after she had woken up in the psychiatric hospital. The day she first met Dr.Dingle. Sam couldn't help but recall the memory of that day as she struggled for her life.

In a recreational room, seated on one of the couches as the TV played out while the other patients of the Psychiatric hospital played around or watched the TV, Samantha Mccoy, wearing a white hoodie and pants was curled up on the couch, not paying attention to what was going on. She had just finished having lunch, and the patients were allowed to use the recreational room. So Sam followed the others there. The whole point of her being there was to socialize, to try spending time with the others, but Sam was not one to socialize. She had no friends, nobody to come visit her except for Henry and her Aunt Stella. But Sam didn't want to see them. Her feelings were mixed and confusing, and she couldn't handle seeing them. It had been two weeks since her birthday since she had lost control of her mind and harmed herself. As she numbly watched the Tv, not paying attention to what was going on, Sam felt the presence of someone within her. Her Empathic senses were dull from the drugs she was given, but they were still there. She could still feel the emotions of people but they were not as strong as it would be if she were fully sober. Sam didn't bother to look up at the person who had come close to her.

"Hello Sam, I'm Dr.Dingle," the voice said. Sam looked up due to the soothing sensation she felt from the voice. It was a blond woman in her thirties, dressed in a white long formal shirt and brown pants and heels. She carried a handbag, with some pieces of jewelry adorned on her. The aura around her was strong, calm, and collected, like a breeze when driving on the road. When Sam stared at the woman's brown eyes and she stared back, Sam looked away. "Can I sit here" Sam didn't look at where she pointed but she just barely nodded her head. She didn't care nor care to know why the woman was talking to her.

"How are you feeling," Dr.Dingle asked. Sam said nothing. She played with the sleeve of her hoodie, counting down in her head till the doctor left. She had stopped caring to talk with people like them because none of them believed her when she talked about her experience. When she told them how she could feel things that people shouldn't be able to. They all thought she was delirious and suffering from a mental disorder. Maybe she was...Maybe she was crazy...but Sam couldn't help but feel angry that no one took her seriously. Sam heard the opening of documents and took a glance at Dr.Dingle. She had a file that she was reading. After a while she dropped it, closing it and leaving it on the coffee table.

"I can understand why you wouldn't want to talk to me," Dr.Dingle said. "I wouldn't even talk to me either if I was in your situation. To be blessed can be just a burden..."

"Bless..." Sam said. "What do you mean "bless?" Sam said. If she had been sober and her emotions unrestrained, Sam would have snapped at the Doctor. But her feelings were dull, her ability to sense emotions weaker than normal.

"I mean your gift of empathy." Dr.Dingle said.

"You...You know about it," Sam stammered.

"Yes," Dr.Dingle said. "No need to be frightened," The Doctor said when she saw the look of fear on Sam's face. "Everyone has the gift of empathy. It is a skill that is intrinsic to us as humans. Yours just happen to be more sensitive."

"It...it doesn't feel like a gift," Sam whispered. "It's like a curse...like I've been cursed..."

"Why do you feel that way," Dr.Dingle said. Sam opened her mouth...but then said nothing. She thought of the night of the incident where she had harmed herself. It was the second worst day of her life, second only to finding out that her father was dead. Dr.Dingle observed Sam, noticing the girl's body language. "I can't begin to understand what it's like to be exposed to the soul of those around us."

"Soul..." Sam said.

"Emotions come from the soul. Your brain allows you to pick up the frequency that the soul releases," Dr.Dingle said. "To be exposed to the true nature of people can be both exhilarating and disgusting. I would understand why you would try to relieve yourself of such a burden." Sam's throat cleared of saliva as she heard this woman talk about her gifts like they were the norm. It was the first time anyone had acknowledged her... had believed her suffering. It felt so easy for Sam to talk to this beautiful woman, that Sam didn't realize that she had been staring into her eyes, something she normally wouldn't do.

"I...I didn't mean to hurt myself..."

"Of course not." Dr.Dingle said. "From what I read of your file, it seems like you've been doing as your doctor prescribed. Sounds to me like someone who wants to live." As Dr.Dingle spoke, Sam couldn't help but smile. She had become comfortable, finally getting the chance to speak with someone who wasn't ticking off boxes on their notepad. The truth was that after Sam had woken up after she realized what she had done, a huge well of shame had clung to her heart. Shame at what she had done. She had taken the easy way out, given up herself to the beautiful deceitful voice in her head that she had been battling for nine years of her life. After she had recovered and her mind was fully aware of the situation, Sam had been so happy to be alive. So glad that she hadn't died. Sam was afraid of dying. She feared the unknown of what would happen after death. Sam wanted to live her life so badly even if she didn't know how to. With her alive...at least there was a chance for something great to happen to her. She expressed this feeling to Dr.Dingle who only smiled at her.

"Of course, you want to live. No one who truly wanted to kill themselves will have a strong will to live like you displayed." Dr.Dingle said. She truly believed it. "If you truly wanted to die, you would have stayed dead when your heart stopped beating for those seconds. But it didn't. You fought to stay alive. You fought and you won. And that is what you need to keep doing to stay alive."

"But is that what my life is all about," Sam couldn't help but ask that. She had been struggling to stay alive for as long as she could remember. "To struggle endlessly. I just want to live a normal life."

"My dear, to struggle is tantamount to being alive. For that is the key to survival." Dr.Dingle said. "And all life desire to survive."

Sam remembered Dr.Dingle, the poor woman who had helped her gain the strength she needed to return to society after her stint in the Psych ward. She had been killed, because of her for some reason. There were so many things about herself that Sam wanted to find out. Dying here without getting the answers she wanted pissed her off completely. She refused to die. Not now! Not tomorrow! Not until she found the answers that had plagued her since her Father died. Sam's odo- her soul- glowed bright, the soul core within it expanding as it strengthened her Odic force. The world energy around Sam felt the call of Sam's soul and responded, the Odyllic moving its will towards Sam. By answering Sam's soul, the Odyllic gathered a tremendous amount of World energy in the direction of Sam, her odo siphoning the vast amount of energy.

The World energy entered Sam's body, the pure Od cleaning her system of the poison, increasing the size and space of Sam's reserve, filling it with so much Od. As Sam felt the effect of the Odic power in her, something within her changed. Her senses sharpened, her mental concentration improved remarkably, and the physical strength of her body grew so much in that instant. Her breathing became so smooth that the Odic flow within her stabilized. Her Flow control allowed her to circulate her Od efficiently. And it wasn't just her Flow control skill. She began to perform Counterflow control, controlling fifty percent of her Od to circulate in the opposite direction of the remaining Od in her Odic Pathway. Normally one could not perform Flow Control and Counterflow at the same time, as doing so was a difficult task that most bodies could not perform. One had to be of a certain rank with their Spiritual strength to even be able to consider doing what Sam was doing so naturally. Her Release control and Output control were also at work. She was fine-tuning the release of Odic energy not just from her core, but also from her Odic node. At the same time, the output of Od that she put towards the Odic skin technique was very high. All this Sam did simultaneously as the Odyllic in the area quaked.

Anuntium and Sinutu sensed Sam's changes and how they came about. The World energy around them had moved away from them, their connection to the Odyllic weakening as its will changed its stance from impartiality to fully favoring Sam. Such a thing was something that only the most powerful, beings of the Transcendent rank could perform, yet it was happening by the strength of a Heroic rank girl. One who had just started training in the Mystic art for weeks. Sinutu saw the resolve within the girl's emerald eyes as she formed a battle stance. He immediately activated his aura technique. A beam of thin blue light mixed with a certain poison from Sinutu's body shot out of the fingertips of both arms that were placed together. This attack was not meant for continuous use like Sinutu was using it, as it was a skill meant to be used stealthily for killing. Sam easily evaded the beam attack, using Rapid steps to move out of the way as swiftly as possible. As Sam moved so quickly, like she was teleporting from one spot to another, the speed at which she was moving began to pick up. Normally when one moves that fast, the force of friction comes into effect, rendering the speed of motion as slow as possible. But thanks to the Odic skin around Sam's body, the effect of Friction did not affect her. She was able to process everything so quickly thanks to her improved mental concentration, and her reaction speed making it possible for her to be able to move out of the path of those beams that traveled at the speed of sound. Now Sam was as close to her Assassins as much as possible. She felt them hiding behind the wall of the bush. Sam's fist tore through the bush, tearing it apart from its roots. The two men who were conjoined jumped away, somersaulting backward.

That girl is a monster! Sinutu thought. He felt the danger from Sam's fist, knowing full well that if it made contact, he and his brother would be done for. Anuntium opened the portal as Sinutu summoned a pack of eel monsters. They came right for Sam who jumped onto them, smashing them and crushing the monsters with her fist. More eel monsters appeared twenty of them surrounding Sam. As Sam fought against the eel creatures, she began to recall a certain feeling she had once before. A feeling from her fight against the golems in that weird place she and Leon had been summoned to. When she had somehow pulled the golem's towards herself. She had no idea what she had done nor did she understand it. The sensation of what her body had gone through was all that she could remember. And in that instance, with the increase in her Odic power, Sam's body did the rest. She felt the sensation happen again, a part of her vitality- her lifeforce- mixed with the Odic energy in Sam, and Sam felt both forces mixed into one and then a power arose within Sam's fist. A green spark of electricity flowed through Sam's arm, then to her fist, which when she released the power sparked a compressional wave that that became a concussive blast. The blast tore through eight of the monsters, killing them instantly. Sam paused taking a look at her right fist which had released that power. She hadn't used any Od technique or martial arts to do what she had just done. She had just displayed her bloodline ability. She felt it in her guts. The status window opened up, and Sam took a look at her stats.

Sam realized that her stats had increased from what they were and now she could even see the part in the status windows that were question marks. She didn't understand what the Musica Universalis was or how it played a part in the Unique techniques that was an application of her innate ability. But Sam understood what she could do with one of them, Resonance. She didn't bother to wonder why the question mark was still blocking her other technique. What she focused on was the feeling of using her Bloodline ability. Just as she was immersing herself in the feeling, Sinutu fired more beams at Sam among the eels that were attacking Sam. Sam evaded using Rapid steps along with releasing more concussive beams of her own. The shockwaves dug a path of destruction getting rid of the eel. Sinutu realized the difficulty in hitting Sam, so he upped the speed of his Odic output. He paid attention to the flow of World energy as it fluctuated due to Sam's movement, and with that, he was able to predict the path that she would land on.

"Piercing finger- Extended Water Beam" Sinutu mixed the Elemental affinity of his Od into the attack increasing the momentum behind it. The increase in the speed of the Blue beam surprised Sam but she was quick enough to use both shields to block the attack. Sinutu felt the attack he was using dissipating, so he added more Odic energy into it pushing Sam through the Water portal that Anuntium opened behind her. As Sam entered the gate, she felt more pressure from the blue beam that kept pushing her as far away from the surface of it into the middle of more monsters. These were larger than the others, as large as whales, murderous hunger oozing off them. Sam focused most of her Od within her fist. The space within the water began to become pressurized as Sam released a powerful technique.

[ Resonance-Thunderclap] A bright green light shot out of Sam's fist, and a whirlpool of pressurized cracks shot through the entire area decimating the entire monster. Sam began to breathe heavily, the amount of Od lowering. And then a blue light hit Sam right in the back of her chest.

"Got her," Sinutu said. He had used the remaining powerful summons in his collections to distract the girl, knowing full well that she had the destructive capability to get rid of them. At that moment after she had finished her attack, Sinutu had targeted her weak point and attacked. And now looking at his cube monitor, he watched as her lifeless body sank into the water space.

"She's dead," Anuntium said. He opened a portal and dropped her body not far from them. Anuntium sighed his heart which had been tingling with fear over the prospect of this girl defeating them. What should have been a piece of cake for them had become extraordinarily difficult. The two brothers began to walk over to the corpse. "With this, our quota is filled up. Perhaps Mallus will give us a chance to cultiv-" As Anuntium spoke to his brother, Sinutu was observing the corpse, an unknown feeling creeping up on him. They were finally close to her when he realized what his feelings were. ".....Are you listening, brother!"

"No! Wait Anun-" But Sinutu didn't get the chance to speak his feelings out because right there, Sam's body moved so fast, that her fist slammed the head of Anuntium, knocking him out in one punch. Sam's strike was no ordinary strike. With her unique technique of Música conductors, Sam could interact with the souls of people, mixed with her resonance that allowed her to transmit vibrations, Sam had struck a small part of Anuntium's Odo. Enough to deal him internal damage to knock him out. Blood gushed out of his mouth and nose as he blacked out. Sinutu couldn't stop sweating as a part of him panicked at seeing the monster before him. A thin hue of green color covered Sam's body like an extra layer, tendrils of energy leaking out of her as her Od spiked up tremendously. Sam struck at him also and Sinutu tried moving but found it difficult to move while his brother was unresponsive. Normally even though they were conjoined, their movements were always perfect but now Sinutu was struggling to move out of Sam's way. He tried to use his Od, but he couldn't feel it anymore. Damn it! He realized his problem right there. The last attack he had used on Sam had been a Critical attack, focusing all his Od within it. He had taken a gamble, a risk and as a consequence of that risk, he had hoped to kill Sam. But now the risk was biting him in his ass as he was unable to use his Od during this period of Burnout.

"How....How are you still alive," Sinutu said. "My piercing finger should have killed you,"

"It should have...luckily it didn't," Sam said.

"Don't tell me....you...you used Counter...Perfect Counter," Sinutu said. Sam had no idea what her opponent meant by Perfect Counter. All Sam knew was that she had taken a huge risk. She knew back in the space of water that those monsters were only a distraction. One meant to pull her attention away from their finishing move. Sam knew that as long as they could get her into the portal, they would continue to attack her with the summons and the beam from far away. The only way to stop them was for her to get close. And what better way to get close than with her corpse? So she gambled on her next move.

"I don't know what Perfect Counter is. All I tried to do was to use the Adamantium Validus," Sam said. "I just recently reached the Peak of the Minor masterly realm, so I figured I might as well try it out."

"Adamantium Validus," Sinutu said. "Bullshit...My piercing finger had enough power to pierce through a strong defense of that nature." Sinutu had taken into consideration the chance that she might use it since she was an Adamantium fist user. So he had upped the output of his attack to get through a powerful defense. And he was right. His Piercing finger should have pierced through Sam's heart. But what happened was almost like a miracle. At the last moment, when the attack had been about to hit Sam, her body had unwittingly used the Counter technique like Sinutu had summarized. So that's why her Od spiked up. Sinutu thought. Sam's gamble had paid off, and she was reaping the rewards of it by her Od increasing. Sinutu drew out a knife from his belt, anger and hatred towards the girl pushing him. Now I know why Mallus wanted us to kill this girl. If she continues to grow, she could threaten the Federation. Sam quietly walked up to Sinutu.

"I don't know who you are or why you're trying to kill me," Sam said. "I can feel your murderous intent towards me. But I'm sorry, I can't afford to die."

"Sh...Shu..t up" Sinutu screamed as he swung his knife at Sam with quick desperate slashes. Sam's fist moved through the air like a striking cobra snake, parrying every single slash of Sinutu's knife with her bare fist. Sinutu's knife was a Seriphium blade, of the gold grade, and the fact that Sam was blocking his attack bare handed only further infuriated Sinutu as he tried to further his strength but without Od, Sinutu couldn't maintain his strikes. Sam's fist broke through, metal pieces rained down as Sam's fist connected with Sinutu's face. Sam rendered a combo rush of jabs infused with a bubble of resonance that dealt internal damage, knocking Sinutu out. He and his brother Anuntium fell on their knees. Sam breathed heavily as signs of exhaustion took over her. She swayed almost losing her balance. As Sam tried to catch her breath, a movement caught her attention. She turned her head to her left as a golden animal walked out of the surrounding bushes. The deer was eight feet tall and muscular, with a large antler and black eyes that hung down on Sam. Sam was mesmerized by the noble creature's beauty.

As Sam was distracted by the nobility of the creature before her, she missed the warning signs of danger before her. Sinutu's consciousness recovered, the pain in his body excruciating but his goal was still something he had in mind. His eyes opened as they fell on Sam who was distracted by the golden deer. Sinutu pulled another blade, determined to kill that bitch. He leaped towards her, trying to close the distance. Sam felt the overwhelming feeling making her turn back to see Sinutu leaping towards her. But then a golden flash appeared in front of her. A thin line of yellow light slashed through the lower body of Sinutu and Anuntium, killing them instantly

"You shouldn't take your eyes off your enemy," Leon said, a frown on his beautiful chiseled face. The smell of death, her stomach churning, and the gory sight pushed the contents of Sam's stomach out of her mouth. Various organs and gore rushed out of the lower bodies of the twins, their blood ran down Sam's face as Leon took Sam in his arms before she lost consciousness. The golden hair mid-twenties young man carried Sam like she was a princess just as a flash of yellow light covered them and they disappeared.
