When the war was over and the siege of Camelot was lifted, Duke Redgrave threw a feast to welcome the coalition nobles into Camelot's arms once again. The feast was extraordinary and luxurious, befitting a royal celebration. Such extravagance might have turned off many civilians who had been harmed by the nobles if they knew about it, but that was the noble lifestyle: extravagant and wasteful.

However, Kay didn't care about how wasteful they were; he only cared about how useful they were for him. His life was about pragmatism, not judgment. In a world where survival of the fittest reigned, only rationality was king. Moreover, he didn't have anything against them; as long as people didn't harm his interests, he cared less about how negative they were in their private lives.

Gold plates groaned under a ridiculous feast. Roasted peacock perched on jeweled rice, swans curved in their final grace. Mountains of capons, salmon glistening on ice, fruits out of season piled precariously high. A jade fountain gurgled with the finest Rhenish wine, refilling silver goblets faster than they were drained—that's how they threw the feast.

Every noble who passed by his table always stopped at his position and exchanged polite words, even to the point of introducing potential marriage partners to him. Some noble ladies charmed him, even flashing their assets at him. However, Kay just offered a polite smile. His confidence in flirtation meant he didn't shy away from noble ladies' advances; he recognized their hidden motives but played along for gain.

That's what made him such a sophisticated individual that even noble ladies found him very irresistible.

Flirting was a tool, not a weakness. He played the game flawlessly, leaving a trail of smitten ladies in his wake.

Despite the jealousy, Princess Guinevere hid it very well. She chatted with them politely and steered the conversation away from her lover. Instead, they engaged in a lot of woman talk, which Kay found not very amusing as he had no interest in how they bragged about their wealth, beauty, and mountain collection of jewels.

Fuck this shit.

He cursed silently.

The more he heard how heated their discussion was, the more he was annoyed and left silently.

He needed a real conversation, not this high-society hen clucking.

Kay would rather wrestle a troll than listen to another word about Countess Whatsherface's latest ruby acquisition.

When he wasn't looking, he bumped into a tall brunette girl with a sophisticated and aristocratic temperament. Her cold gaze made him wonder if this woman was in her period, making him not want to go near her.

However, fate always played a joke on him as the woman spoke to him.

"Sir Kay," the woman's voice was like ice clinking against crystal. "I've heard much about you from my father. A word, if you please?"

Despite asking for permission, her strong oppressive gaze was evident that she wouldn't take no for an answer.

Kay frowned and pretended not to hear what she said and left. He decided to take a breath of fresh air in the castle garden and gazed at the stars without hesitation. The woman stared at his back with a surprised look but didn't stop him as she whispered something to the man in a dark cloak and left.

When he arrived in the back garden, he was surprised that his sister was there, gazing at the stars and noticing his presence.

"Kay... Here, here!" She patted the ground beside her, signaling him to sit beside her.

He shrugged and approached Artoria. It had been two weeks since they had been separated. He honestly missed his time with her. Compared to the high pressure of life-saving princesses, fighting Saxons, and negotiating with nobles, the simple training and delivering glass water from Artoria were the best.

However, time couldn't be turned back. Now, he knew such simple things in life had become a luxury for him. As he and Artoria gazed at the stars, neither of them spoke; a silent understanding was unspoken between them.

The carefree days of training together were a distant memory.

They knew better than to think this was probably the last time for them to enjoy this carefree life.

Under the silent majesty of the stars, words were unnecessary.

They were simply brother and sister, content in the quiet companionship of each other.
