26 Chapter 25: The Date

Alice Hughes' POV

I smiled as we shook hands. I retreated my hand as I felt like it was long enough that it made me awkward with him.

'So, why are you coming here tonight?' He asked me as I was playing with my fingers after we know each other names.

'well, it was my birthday today and my best friend thought it would be nice to be here at this party,' I said as I laughed. He smiled at me.

'you have a beautiful laugh,' he said that made me cleared my throat all of a sudden.

'well, thank you, I guess,' I said as I was putting my hair behind my ear.

'do you want to get out of here?' He asked me. I turned to look at him. He was in his mask, still, and I was in mine. I don't know if that would be a good move from my side. He sensed that I was hesitating.

'it's fine if you don't think you would trust me yet—'

'i'm in,' I said bluntly. He looked at me, surprise took over his face. He smiled lightly before cleared his throat.

'Are you sure? What about your friend that came with you? She would be looking for you after this,' he said as he looked at the house. I followed his action as well. I'm sure Nora wouldn't mind, she was having too much fun to care about me anyway.

And perhaps, she would support me to go out with a stranger on the night of my birthday. I'm 20 years old now, I don't need supervision from anyone.

'it's fine. I'm sure she would understand,' I said as I took his hand. He turned sharply at me as he was shocked at my direct action.

'let's not waste any more time than we already have,' I said as I took him out of the backyard before he took over me and led me out from that house party.

'after you, milady,' he said as he opened the door of his car. It was a black Lamborghini. I never know he was rich not that I cared about it anyway. I stood there frozen as I was thinking twice now.

'are you having second thoughts now?' He asked as he holds the door for me. I looked at him as he was still wearing his mask.

'can I see your face?' I asked him as I was looking at him. He laughed before he went to untie the mask. He pulled it slowly from his face and the first thing that I noticed was his peculiar eyes. It was not any normal color that I would find in the streets. It was ruby red. Those red eyes.

I know it somewhere but I could not place it. His tousled brown hair and his high cheekbones. Let's not forget about his aristocratic nose as he smiled with his full, kissable lips.

'Are you gonna show me yours then?' He asked as he was waiting for me. I blinked a few times as I was staring at him. I blushed.

'Sure, but don't laugh, okay?' I said as I looked at him. He chuckled.

'i'm sure you're beautiful, Alice,' he said as he was staring at me. I held my breath as I went to untie my mask behind my head. My hands slowly rose behind my back and untied it. The string fell to the side before I hold the mask in my hand. I slowly pulled it down as I was closing my eyes before I pulled it to the side. I opened my eyes and Connor was staring at me with proximity.

'As I said, I always thought you're a beauty, Alice,' he said as he was caressing my cheeks. I closed my eyes as I leaned into his touch.

'come on, I wanna show you something,' I said as I was getting inside the Lamborghini before he closed the door and went to the driver's side. He went to start the ignition and he looked at me.

'i know you're gonna love this,' he said as he was speeding off from the roadside as he went to the highway as I was holding to my seat. He did not kid me when he was driving so fast. I laughed as he opened the roof of the car and I laughed my heart out.

It was Friday night and the town was bustling with people from all walks of life. I was looking at the pedestrians that were having some coffee, light dinner or small talk with their families and friends.

Connor took a right turn before he stopped in front of a restaurant. I did not know why we're here but I supposed he said that I would love this as much as he was.

'wait up,' he said as he went out of the car before he lightly jogged to my side and opened the door for me.

'after you,' he said as he offered his hand for me to get off from the car.

'thank you,' I said as I took his hand and he helped me stand. I was looking around when I saw the sign of the restaurant. It spelled Celtic House. I supposed that it would provide Celtic cuisine as well as Irish.

'come on,' he said as he pulled me by hand as we went inside the door.

'Welcome to Celtic house, how many people?' The hostess asked Connor as I took in the vibe of the restaurant. It was nice and cozy like we were at home.

'two please and the table by the street view if you please,' he said as the hostess nodded at him.

'please, follow me,' she said as she went to show us our table. Connor pulled the chair for me as I thanked him and he went to take a seat opposite mine.

'This is nice,' I said as I was looking at him. He smiled at me before pulling the napkin and put it on his laps. I did the same.

'here are your menus, if you're ready, I'll be Erin,' she said before she went out to serve other people. I opened the menu and a lot of them were Celtic or Irish foods served here. I smiled.

'i would recommend you beef stew but I think I let you decide yourself,' Connor said as he was putting his menu down. I guess he already had something in mind to eat. I smiled at him before I scanned the menu.

'i think I'll have your suggestion then,' I said as I put down the menu. Connor smiled before he called after that waitress and put our order.

After the food arrived and we order a bottle of white wine, Connor told me that he had been dying to ask me on a date ever since we met in the Business 101 class. I never knew that he was in the same class as me.

'so, you have been waiting for the right moment then?' I asked him as I sipped on the wine. It tasted fruity but I don't think I would go more than one glass for tonight. I have little tolerance for wine.

'yes, and I thought you might reject me for a moment when I saw you across the room at the party. So, I went to search for you when you were alone in the backyard. I thought I might keep you company,' he said as he put his fork down and wiped his mouth with the napkin. I smiled. He was well mannered, maybe he was not that bad.

'okay, but tell me something, are you a business major or is that just for GE class?' I asked him. I wanted to see if he would lie to me.

'well, actually I was taking it for GE class, I heard it was the easy one but my major was physics. I wanted to analyze the parallel dimensions that might be true in our existed plane,' he said as he was looking at me. I smiled at him. Well, he was ambitious, I tell you that.

'okay, well, I was a chemistry major, so maybe I can help you with that,' I said as I put some beef on the fork.

'i was thinking for my senior thesis might be on that project of yours as well,' I said as I was laughing with him. He chuckled.

'well, Alice, I would love that much,' he said as he was looking at me before his phone beeped.

'excuse me, I have to take this call,' he said as he got up from the seat and went to the bathroom to answer his phone call. I was alone when I saw around me that everyone was on a date. Am I on a date right now, with Connor? I brushed that thought away before Connor appeared in front of me.

'sorry, it was my mum. She just wanted me to pick up something at the pharmacy,' he said guiltily as we were having a nice dinner when his mother was sick. I smiled before I went to get up from my seat.

'i would not mind to get off early. besides, your mother needs you more,' I said as I was trying to support him. He smiled at me.

'thank you, I pay for our meal,' he said before I could stop him.

'no, let me,' I said as I was trying to stop him.

'no, it's my idea. I thought we could get together like this again, next time?' He said as he arched his eyebrow at me.

'yes, I would like that much,' I said as I think I have found the guy of my dreams.

'right, just let me settle our check first then we can get out of here,' he said before he went to the counter to pay for our check and we were out of the restaurant before we went to the car. Connor was a gentleman as he opened the door for me again.

'Why, thank you, nice gentleman,' I said as I went inside the car.

'my pleasure, milady,' he said as he closed the door. He then walked to his side and went inside the car before fastening his seatbelt. I did the same. He started the ignition and we were off.
