Chapter 1: The Soulmate

Alice Hughes' POV

I don't know what happened but what all I know was that I have been saved by this gorgeous specimen who was staring at me like I was his prey. He just stood there as I was sitting still on the grass.

'can you get up?' He asked. I blinked at him.

'what?' My voice was like a whisper when I tried to speak to him. I cleared my throat before I said it again.

'what?' I asked him.

'can you stand or do you need me to help you out?' He said as he looked at me, annoyed with my deaf hearing.

'well, sorry if I bothered you then,' I said before I got onto my own feet. The stranger just arched his eyebrow at me before I dusted off some dirt on my butt.

'what's your name?' He asked when we were in silence for a while. I scoffed before glaring at him.

'and why should I tell you that?' I asked him as I narrowed my eyes at him. He scoffed before he turned around and mumbled, he saved me and I don't being grateful.

'hey! I can hear you!' I shouted as I looked at his disappearing figure.

'Good!' He shouted before he disappeared into the dark forest. I sighed before I tried to remember where I was. I was in the cemetery.

'i must be close to the party house then,' I mumbled before I made my steps into the unknown.

When I got to the house once again, everyone was wasted. There were cups of beers everywhere and I tried to locate my best friend.

'Nora?' I shouted across the house as I went from room to room.

'shut up, will you?' Some of the students were telling me to stay quiet as they were having a huge headache. Glad I was not on that boat.

'Nora?' I asked before I stopped in front of her.

'hey, look! It's Alice. Alice in wonderland,' she slurred as I sighed. I took her arm and put it around my shoulder as I tried to get out of the house.

'no I don't want to go. James will be back,' she said as she tried to get off me. Not having so much strength to go against her, I put her down and I went to search for James.

'James, Nora needs you! James?' I asked as I shouted around the house. Everyone was groaning before I came across a door. As I tried to open it, it was locked.

'why would that be?' I asked as I remember someone was coming in and out of this room a few hours ago.

'Hello?' I knocked on the door. I don't know what t say but I don't want to make a scene in somebody else's house.

'okay, you got this,' I whispered before I went to hold the handle before it moved by itself.

'OMG! That was the best sex I ever had!' A blonde was coming out of the room as she was giggling and James' face was coming after her.

'James? What are you doing inside here?' I asked him as he looked at me, took it by surprise.

'Alice, I don't know what you're here still. Where's Nora?' He tried to brush it off before the blonde spoke her mind.

'babe, who is this?' She asked as she was eyeing me up and down. I looked at her. Stained lips. Messy hair. Unbuttoned blouse. Then I looked at James. He has the same look.

Oh no, he did not just do that to my best friend.

'damn it, James! Are you cheating on Nora?! I shouted as I swear the whole house can hear my scream.

'what are you saying, bitch?! That slut was the one that tried to seduce my fiancé, isn't that right babe?' She said as she caressed his cheeks. James just nodded as I scoffed at them.

'How dare you?!' I shouted. The blonde turned around and glared at me.

'How dare YOU!' She said before she pushed me backward. I was surprised by her strength that got me stumbled backward a few steps.

'hmm, such a loser for a big mouth,' she said before I was sliding down to the ground.

'babe, just let her be,' James tried to control the situation but that blonde has another idea.

'let see who is tougher,' she said before she raised the vase in her hand and I was ready to block it from hitting my face.

'oh no, you don't, slut!' Nora's voice was hitting my eardrum before she hit that blonde and sent her away.

'no one messes with my family,' Nora said before she took my hands and we ran out of the house. I don't know what happened but we just ran and ran until we found our apartment and get inside it.

Nora closed the door and leaned on it. I was sitting on the floor in front of her as we were both breathless from our little exercise. I was taking deep breaths as I don't know what to say. I looked at Nora and she looked at me before we both burst out loud.

'damn, that was intense,' she said as she looked at me before sliding down the door.

'Yeah, and that bitch as well,' I said before I just hit her nerve. Nora went quiet when I said about that crazy bitch.

'sorry, I don't mean to—'

'i already know that he was someone else's,' Nora said as she looked at me. okay, time for a confession.

'so, you don't do anything about it. Why don't you just leave him?' I asked Nora before she looked at her hands. She lifted her face before a single tear came down her cheek.

'How could I? He was forced to be with that blonde and he never wanted to be with her. He loved me and the time just right at the moment, and we just—'

'oh my god! Don't tell me about that! You can't possibly—Nora!' I hissed at her as she was smiling sheepishly at me.

'i can't help it,' she said as she looked at me. I sighed before pinching my nose bridge. then, I remembered that he was trying to hit on me as well. I sighed.

'Nora, I have to tell you that, since you're so in love with James, he was trying to get into my pants that other day,' I said as I looked at my fingers. I don't know how Nora would respond to this but I hope she would be calm. Suddenly, Nora took my hands as she looked at me.

'i know, who wouldn't want you, Alice? If anyone doesn't desire you, that man was foolish,' she said as she caressed my cheeks. I smiled before we hugged. She kissed my head and caressed my back. I could be with her as long as I lived and I don't need a man for I have a best friend.

Connor O'Sullivan's POV

'okay, it's official. I hate that girl,' I said as I was leaning on the table. My other friend just laughed at me.

'really, Connor. You're joking, right? Have you seen her? She has the most beautiful long legs ever. It was a miracle that you're her mate,' Luke said as he looked at me while he sipped on his favorite drink, blood.

'urgh, you don't understand. This girl will ruin my life. I don't need her. I can handle it myself,' I said as I was running my hands through my hair. Ethan was smiling wickedly in the dark as his golden eyes were shining in the dark.

'i think you're overthinking about this. There's nothing to be worried about. You find your soulmate, you bond and you left. As simple as that,' Ethan said as he was looking at his fingers before looking at me. Damn mutt, don't know a thing about soulmates.

'and I suppose you're the expert on this matter, is that it?' I asked him before he showed me his hands in surrender.

'okay, you win. Whatever you want to do about it?' He said before he went on to stay silent.

'well, any ideas, Luke?' I asked the vampire that I have come to know this past week since he came here for help with my sister.

'i don't know. It sounds to me that you should start planning the wedding,' he said before everyone laughed, except me.

'damn it, you guys. Can anyone take this seriously?' I asked before the door cracked opened and my sister, Ophelia, came inside the room.

'Boys, breakfast is served. I hope you guys hungry,' she said as her violet eyes were showing toward us.

'yes, Lady O'Sullivan,' everyone responded before she bowed and leave us.

'damn, who would be so lucky to have her?' Luke asked before I punched him on the arm.

'ow!' He exclaimed.

'watch it. She might be young but she's still my sister,' I said before Luke, Ethan and I walked out to have some breakfast to fill our empty stomachs.
