Chapter 26

"You did what?!" Prince Clyde shouted his question at the top of his lungs as he roughly pulled at Apollo by the front of his shirt. Hearing that Gunner had left the safety of the walls had his entire body shaking from the inside out. It was like all his internal alarms were going off and telling him to rush to Gunner's aid.

Everyone around the area could see how shaken up Prince Clyde was at hearing Gunner was outside the safety zone. Apollo's tail seemed to curl up around himself as he kept a smile painted across his face. The sight of Prince Clyde being rattled over something really made his insides flutter with joy. Pinning his elf like ears back against his head he glared straight into Prince Clyde's eyes.

"I said he got out into the city of Abaron's streets by himself. I had nothing to do with it." Apollo's smile almost made the man look innocent but Clyde knew that if Gunner had gotten out of the safety zone it was not that simple.

"If you knew he was leaving the safety of the walls you should have stopped him! We're closer to the damn main lair here then we were back home!" Prince Clyde shoved Apollo to the ground and glared down at him with hate filled eyes. He could not stand the man in the least knowing that he would so willingly allow Gunner to go out into Abaron alone.

"It's daylight out and the hell hounds don't usually swamp the walls until the cover of nightfall. He'll be fine out there on his own just like he was back at your mansion." Apollo declared as he stood up while dusting himself off from the sudden shove.

The prince's body shook as he tried to think of a way to get Gunner safely back into the zone without risking everyone else around him. He thought about going out there and chasing him down himself. No matter the risk he could not tolerate the idea of something bad happening to him. It almost felt as though he would hyperventilate if he did not see that he was alright.

"If anything happens to him-" Prince Clyde went to speak but found himself being cut off by Apollo. The fact that Apollo would speak over him made his brow twitch.

"I know, I know~ You'll string me up for the hell hounds on your stone walls here at the safety zone." Apollo waved his hand in the air as if he was trying to shake of the fact that he was actually shaking inside at the idea. He knew Clyde well enough to know that he really would string someone up if he felt it was justified.

Looking over at the wall of the safety zone from the inside they both did not know what each other was thinking but they both had the same thing in the back of their mind. They both wondered what Gunner was doing outside the wall. Wrapping his tail around himself as he stood there Apollo's purple gaze was filled with curiosity and excitement. He could hear the sound of the prince grumbling to himself as he tried to think of what to do. It was obvious to Apollo that the man could not stand being separated too far from Gunner.

"If you really worry that much over him.. I will go bring him back." Apollo gave a fake sigh at the idea of leaving the safety zone in order to find Gunner.

He could not hide the fact from Prince Clyde's eyes that he was actually excited at the idea of going out into the city. The man was clearly up to something and Clyde could see it clearly from the way he was acting. Baring his sharp fangs he grabbed Apollo by the collar of his shirt again as he pulled him in close enough their faces could almost touch.

"Bring him back here, but if you touch him-" Prince Clyde's grip on Apollo was suddenly gone as the man had somehow quickly evaded his hold with a bright smile lighting up his face.

"I would never dare~" Apollo gave an expression of being wronged for a brief moment. If one did not know how sly he was they would actually be able to fall for such a look because he surely knew how to make it look as natural as breathing. He did not like the prince grabbing onto him as the idea of standing close to him made his blood boil just as much as it did in return for Clyde.

Prancing away with a heart filled with joy he could not keep himself from twirling about in the air as he headed for the southern gate's iron door. Every fiber of him was filled to the prim with excitement as the guards let Apollo leave on Prince Clyde's order to safely return Gunner to the safety zone. A mysterious emotion filled his eyes as he left that puzzled everyone who glanced at him. There was something about the way that he moved that left everyone wondering what he was really up to as he left the safety zone with such and expression as though he was not worried in the least, but purely enjoying every fiber of the fact he was diving into a dangerous place after another man.

Even as his figure vanished from their sight the soft and gentle whistling of a beautiful tune could be heard echoing throughout the city streets that reached the wall. After the tune was gone a smile slipped onto his face as his ears listened for the sounds of Gunner. It would not take him long to find the man with his heightened senses compared to a normal human. The demon blood running through his veins made tracking a very simple task for him.

"My beautiful hound of Abaron, I will be there soon for you~" He spoke out loud as he carefully breathed in the scents from all around and gazed about the street for any signs of the man.
