Chapter 11

VOLUME TWO: STEPBROTHER TO THE NANNY

LYDIA

"WE'VE GOT another job for you, Ms. Foster," Ted, the owner of Helping Hands, told me.

"You sure you've got the right number?" I asked as I rolled over in bed since I should be off for the next couple of weeks. I'd just finished with a nanny job from hell and was promised a nice vacation. The fact that Ted called himself meant this must be really bad.

"Lyd, I wouldn't call if someone hadn't requested you specifically."

"Tell them I'm dead," I only half joked.

"There's a lot of money on the table with this job. Otherwise, I'd tell them to jump off a bridge. When I told them you weren't available, they offered to pay triple your rate plus bonuses. I like money, and I know you do too. I'm pretty sure you'll at least want to hear this one out."

He was right, but damn if I didn't need this break.
