Revelations

Before 9:30 am, Fuhira and Yagita were already back at the museum to see if they could pick up any clues that had been missed the previous day.

As usual, Fuhira scanned with his eye while Yagita paced around while she watched a copy of the cctv footage from the day of the incident.

"I've got nothing" Fuhira said, sounding very frustrated. "It doesn't matter if we know that they look like. How do we find or trace people who disappear into thin air?"

"You need to calm down." Yagita said,"come take a look at this" she showed him a particular part of the footage that she found interesting.

"Look here, right before they disappear."

"What am I meant to be looking at?" Fuhira asked.

"Look, he taps something on his ear, which I believe was some sort of radio or earpiece he used to contact the person who actually got them out of there. It may not be much but at least we know in their little group, there's someone who can transport people remotely, baldy there can...um, turn any part of his body into weapons and the guy who sent you flying can turn his skin into diamonds"

He shook his head,"did you have to word it like that?"

As usual, she didn't answer him. He continued, "Thats good work Yagita, we could see if there's anyone in the database who has powers like those or similar to those"

"I'll get on that now"

"Thank you, I'm going to check on the witnesses and employees that were here, to make sure everyone is okay. I'm also going to stop by the house of the person who got killed. His wife must be distraught. "

"I'll let you know if anything comes up with the database" Yagita said, leaving the museum.

Fuhira sighed and left a few seconds later. [This is tough] he thought.

By the time Kirinaha woke up the next morning, Yashiro was already with Rando and Rani. They made breakfast and brought some of it to her. They spoke with her for a few minutes to see how she was doing.

She considered them her own kids too and was very happy to see them all together. She relayed the previous days events once more and convinced them that she was okay.

"I was just in shock yesterday guys but really, I'm okay. Thank you for coming to check on me, and for breakfast too"

"You're welcome Ms Kirinaha" Rani said.

Yashiro took her dishes as the trio got up.

"Get some more rest mum. We will be downstairs if you need anything"

She smiled at them again, "alright kids, go have fun."

As they were about to walk out, she remembered something and spoke again, "Oh before I forget. Congratulations to the three of you on getting into the Academy. I'm really proud of the 3 of you"

They all said thank you and went downstairs.

Yashiro washed the dishes while the others sat and drank soft drinks.

"what do you think they wanted with a broken artifact? I mean does that even have any worth?" Rando asked

Rani sighed, "I'm just glad she is okay. From what she described, that must have been a traumatic experience."

Yashiro finished and came to join them. However, he had an angry expression on his face.

"They better hope I never come across them. Putting a gun to my mum's face"

"I understand your anger Shiro but please don't go doing anything stupid on the off chance that you do find them. Like attacking them alone " Rando said,"if you do spot them please call the police. Those are killers, not sloppy bank robbers"

Yashiro understood that Rando only brought up the bank incident to remind him that although those were robbers, the both of them would've died without Rani helping out.

He slammed his hand on the dining table. "You didn't see her yesterday Rando. I've never seen her break down like that. She was really shaken up. Whatever they did really scared her and I don't like the thought of it"

Holding Yashiro's hand, Rani said, "I'm sorry Shiro, I can't imagine how hard that must been to witness. However, Rando is right. You really can't go engaging them if you do spot them. It doesn't seem like the armed adults have a problem with killing kids these days. Which is a scary thought to have."

Yashiro sighed loudly but tried to calm himself down. In an attempt to take Yashiro's mind off things, Rando changed the subject. "On the other hand though, we all made it into the Academy guys. That's big."

Rani smiled, "Yeah its pretty big guys. My parents couldn't believe it. I mean a few months ago I could barely control my powers. I'm really so glad I met you guys"

Yashiro laughed, "and now you're knocking out teachers" Rando joined in and laughed too.

Rani spoke again, "speaking of which, did you guys see the email from them? " As she said that, the boys checked their phones.

It was a congratulatory email from the Academy. However it also contained information about their resumption dates, the rules and regulations of the institution and information about the dorms. students could choose if they wanted to live at the Academy or continue to live at home.

"I was thinking it would be better to live at the Academy but I wanted to know what you guys thought" Rani said, Rando agreed with her but from the expression on Yashiro's face, they could tell he was opposed to this idea.

"It would've been nice but I can't leave my mum by herself. Definitely not after what just happened at the museum"

Rani and Rando didn't try to argue with him, they understood his reasons.

A few seconds later, they heard a knock on the door, followed by the doorbell.

Rando asked Yashiro, "Are you expecting anyone?"

"No, I'm not." He walked towards the door and looked through the peep hole.

[What's he doing here?] he thought

He turned to Rando and Rani who were both curiously looking at him.

"It's the detective from the hospital. I can't remember his name" He said, reassuringly as he opened the door.

Upon entering, Fuhira recognised the trio immediately.

"What are the odds? How have you kids been? Oh and how was the entrance exam for the Academy?"

Rani answered,"we have been okay. The exam was yesterday, we all got in"

"oh very impressive." He paused for a few seconds, looking around the room. "Well, sorry to disturb you kids but I'm looking for Kirinaha Katsui. She lives here right?"

"Yeah, she's my mother. I'll go get her" Yashiro said and immediately climbed the stairs.

About two minutes later, he came back downstairs with Kirinaha right behind him.

"Hello, Detective Fuhira is everything okay?" Kirinaha asked. She looked very concerned.

"I didn't mean to alarm you. I just came to check how you're doing"

"Thats very nice of you detective. I'm okay, I'm just still in shock." As she said this, Yashiro indicated for Rando and Rani to follow him upstairs to his room so Fuhira and his mum would have some privacy as they spoke.

As soon as the trio were out of earshot, Kirinaha began talking again.

"Actually, I'm really glad you're here. I'm very scared. I saw their faces up close. I'm scared they're going to come after me and my son. I really don't want anything to happen to him. Is there anything that can be done to keep him safe? "

"I understand your worries ma'am but I do not think that will be a problem. The fact that they went into the museum without masks on simply means they didn't mind being seen because they were that confident that they wouldn't be caught. If it'll help put your mind at ease I'll put a few officers near your house just incase."

"That would be really helpful detective, I appreciate it." She sat at the dining table "Those guys really were the worst. I mean what they did to that poor receptionist was just pure evil. I wonder if his family members are okay"

"I went over there first before coming here. He had a wife and two children. It's very sad. His wife was inconsolable but you could tell she was trying to be strong for her kids. No mother should have to go through that." As he said that, his tone changed and he looked angry with a very determined look on his face "I promise you, just like I did to his wife. I will bring those men and their organisation to justice."

She smiled as he said this "Thank you for your reassurance detective. Oh, how rude of me. Would you like anything to drink?"

He smiled, "No thank you, I'm not planning on staying long. I'm really glad you're okay though. Experiences like those can be tough. If you need anything else, you can call me" He handed her a business card.

She got up as he began walking towards the front door. "Thanks once again for the visit detective, i really appreciate it"

"No problem. Have a nice day ma'am" He walked out and she locked the door behind him.

She sighed and went back to the dining table.

The police station was busier than usual. Yagita avoided having pointless small talk and went straight to her captains office. She had a laptop open in her hands

After two knocks, he told her to come in.

"Hey Cap, I need your help. I need to access the powers database so I need your access code"

*(After the incident that brought about the end of heroes, the database containing individuals and their powers was only available to police captains and commissioners. Initially, the database was created so the police would be able to keep track of the heroes. However, after that era ended the database was then used to keep track of criminals who had abilities. Each of the captains had unique codes to access the database and when a new captain was appointed, a new code was given to the new captain. This was all done to prevent and minimise the chances of the database being leaked to the public again)*

"My access code? Why do you need it? "

"Fuhira wants me to search the database to see if there has ever been a perp with powers similar to the guys from the museum"

"Thats a good idea. Let me have the laptop"

After he put in the 15 digit access code, he and Yagita sat down and thoroughly searched the database.

After about 20 minutes, they finally found something. She thanked her captain and printed the page she was looking at and then left his office.

Yagita called Fuhira, who was riding back to the precinct. He couldn't pick up so she left a voice mail.

"We got a match." She said," but it's not what you would think. There's a record of someone who had an ability quite similar to the power of the one referred to as 3 but he died 15 years ago. Zazuki Botada. It says here he was arrested a few times, petty theft, assault and battery, car theft. Nothing too serious. There's an address here stated for him. It's on Tucho Road, number 17.

I'm already on my way there. See you soon."
