Injured

After Himeko brought Kouro, Kiana, and Mei to Hyperion, a little girl suddenly appeared and claimed to be Kouro and Mei's friend, the little girl identified herself as Bronya.

Worried about Kouro's bleeding wounds, Himeko did not ask further and only after confirming that Bronya was really Mei and Kouro was their friend, was she allowed to ride Hyperion as a survivor.

Kiana also woke up from her stupor and after resting for a while, she recovered without any sequelae.

__

45 minutes later, inside the infirmary of St. Freya Academy.

A medical staff wearing a white coat reported to Himeko who was with Kiana, Mei, and Bronya about Kouro's condition.

"The patient's current condition is very complicated. He is believed to have experienced some intense physical activity enough to make an ordinary person with normal physical strength paralyzed in bed. But the patient is still able to move freely, even against Honkai Beasts and Zombies."

The medical staff stated before pausing for a moment, Himeko and the others thinking that Kouro's diagnosis report was finished, Himeko asked in confusion.

"Then why is he bleeding?"

"Because what I just revealed is the lightest injury he has."

"What!?" Himeko and the others shouted in unison.

"The bleeding was caused by some kind of sharp projectile, probably a stone made or thrown by the Honkai Beast when it hit the ground."

"He should have been able to avoid an attack of this level, but before that, he had already suffered more than ten hours of non-stop fighting and was physically and mentally exhausted. He has pushed himself past his limits."

"Kouro went to the fort on the border of Nagazora City and fought against the Honkai Beasts to give the residents more time to evacuate." Himeko added.

Hearing Himeko's statement, the medical staff nodded their heads and continued.

"Aside from the trauma, the damage inside his body is even more grievous. Not only did he experience several high-intensity fights, as I mentioned earlier."

"He seems to have deliberately absorbed excessive Honkai Energy by force, resulting in a lot of damage and bleeding in his internal organs."

The medical staff took a deep breath before continuing, "If it happened again to an ordinary human, even if he did not become a Zombie due to the concentration of Honkai Energy, he would die immediately due to severe damage to his internal organs."

"Intentionally absorbing excessive Honkai Energy? Why..."

Himeko found it strange and hard to understand why Kouro would do that since it was tantamount to suicide, then Bronya appeared from the side and quickly explained.

"Bronya met him at the border fortress of Nagazora City earlier, after the battle was over, he saved the members of the last garrison unit that was corroded by Honkai Energy."

"Is it possible to stop the damage of Honkai Energy attacking the human body by forcibly absorbing it?" Kiana asked in confusion.

Himeko answered her question with a complicated expression, "In theory it is indeed possible, but the risks involved are considerable, the pain one would experience during the process is agonizing... No, even most Valkyries would not be able to survive."

Everyone fell silent after hearing Himeko's words.

The medical staff took another deep breath, even longer than the previous one, she could not believe it when she first got the information from the data of the various diagnostic tools.

"The good news is, the patient's ability to recover on his own is beyond expectation. Although his injuries were fatal, they were not life-threatening. He only fell into a coma due to excessive physical and mental exhaustion."

She paused for a moment before continuing, "When he wakes up later, he will probably not be affected by normal sequelae due to his extremely high adaptability."

"According to the data we observed after diagnosing the patient, if he continues his treatment, he will only take less than three days to recover."

The four of them did not know whether the medical staff did it intentionally or not. Giving bad news to make everyone feel nervous and then giving good news to relieve the nervousness, made their emotions go up and down like a rollercoaster.

But either way it made everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

Kiana hurriedly asked, "Then, can we go see him now?"

"The patient is currently still in a coma. Sleeping is the most efficient way for him to recover. Please do not try to disturb the patient." The medical staff warned, and of course they all agreed.

Then, a sizable group of people walked into the ward room where Kouro was, seeing him sleeping peacefully, Himeko sighed.

"This is what an ordinary boy should look like. Seeing him as he is now, it's almost impossible to associate him with someone who can face a Honkai Beast, thousands of Zombies and several Mecha Titans head on."

In this world, the ratio of men and women was very unbalanced, so Himeko's neighbors were generally women.

The medical staff wanted to complain, but considering that the way she reported the situation made everyone in the room angry, she thought that it was wiser to keep her mouth shut and avoid attracting more flags of death.

Himeko's words made Kiana and Mei reminisce about the little things they did when they met Kouro until today.

Although not too much had happened in a long time, he bore a heavy burden in silence as if nothing had happened and seeing his currently pale and bruised face made them clench their fists tightly.

Since the medical staff had previously said that they should not disturb Kouro's rest, everyone quietly understood and remained silent, even the usually carefree Kiana was suddenly quiet this time.

Of course, a person in a coma would not wake up from this level of noise.

After confirming that Kouro's injury was indeed not as bad as they had imagined, they all quickly exited the ward with Kiana who was currently looking a little sullen, she felt that she was a burden.

Kouro had eliminated so many Honkai Beasts and had done so many other things, yet she was knocked unconscious by Mei's aura when she woke up as Herrscher.

And the girl Bronya who appeared out of nowhere, being able to meet Kouro in the suburbs bordering Nagazora City meant that she had the power to be able to wander around Nagazora City which was full of Honkai Beasts and Zombies after the Honkai Eruption.

As someone who carries the Kaslana clan, she was even the first to faint in a critical situation.

Of course, Kiana couldn't accept it.

"Aunt Himeko, is there any way for Aunt Theresa to make me stronger?"

Right after she finished speaking, Kiana felt a cold aura reminiscent of death coming from Himeko who was currently smiling even though the blue veins on her forehead showed otherwise.

It seemed like she did not need to ask Theresa for help, but first she had to make sure that she would be fine.

"Cough! Himeko-san, I didn't say anything."

Fun fact:

Kouro is a person who has ambidextrous abilities. (Before that he was left-handed)
