Ch-33 < Success>

Kevin leaned back in his chair, staring at the list of names AI Bronya had compiled.

The crimes of MOTH's higher-ups were extensive and vile—illegal activities, human trafficking, drugs, and deep connections to the underground world. His expression darkened as he reviewed the files.

"These people are a disease," Kevin muttered to himself. "And I've got the cure."

It didn't take long for Kevin to act. Oscar, one of the most heinous criminals among them, was swiftly eliminated.

Kevin took control some of his assets, careful to erase any trace of his involvement. Next, he threatened Charles and Rahul, using their fear to extract large sums of money which he funneled into MOTH, specifically to fund Mobius's lab and Project MANTIS.

Later that evening, Mei entered the lab where Kevin was reviewing the files on Oscar.

"Kevin, how did you acquire so much funding so quickly?" Mei asked, her tone filled with curiosity and concern.

Kevin glanced up at her, his expression calm but serious. "By eliminating one of the most heinous criminals, Oscar," he replied, truthfully but without hesitation.

Mei froze for a moment, her mind racing as she processed what Kevin had just said. "Oscar? You mean the fourth seat of MOTH's main head? You... eliminated him?"

Kevin nodded. "He was involved in human trafficking, drugs, and a list of other despicable activities. I took him out and secured his assets for our use."

Mei's eyes widened, a mix of shock and disbelief crossing her face. Before she could respond, Mobius stormed into the room, having overheard their conversation.

"You did what?" Mobius screamed, her voice filled with both shock and anger.

Kevin remained calm, meeting Mobius's glare with a steady gaze. "I eliminated Oscar and took control of some of his assets. He was a criminal, a blight on humanity."

Mobius paced back and forth, clearly agitated. "Kevin, you can't just go around killing high-profile as Oscar! The repercussions—"

Kevin interrupted her, pulling up the files on Oscar's activities. "I understand the risks, Mobius, but look at this. He was involved in human trafficking, drug trade, arms dealing—his crimes are countless. He was more of a threat to humanity than some of the Herrschers we've fought."

Mobius took the files from Kevin and she read through them. "This… this is…"

The unhuman experiments which mobius did is nothing compared to Oscar crimes.

Mei, who had been silently absorbing the information, finally spoke up. "He was truly deserving of this, but Kevin, this is dangerous. We're already on thin ice with MOTH's higher-ups. If they catch wind of this…"

Kevin nodded. "I've covered my tracks. There's no evidence linking me to his death. And with the money I've secured, we can accelerate our research, especially on Project MANTIS. This project is more important than one life.

"Kevin-ni-sama has eliminated all traces of his involvement. The operation was clean. There is no chance of detection." AI bronya said.

Mobius sighed, her anger subsiding into reluctant acceptance. "I suppose… if anyone deserved it, it was Oscar. But what about Charles and Rahul? They won't take this lying down."

Kevin's expression turned cold. "They won't have a choice. I've already made it clear that they're to funnel money into our projects. If they step out of line, they know they'll end up like Oscar."

Mei couldn't help but worry. "We need to be careful, Kevin. These people won't just roll over. They'll come after us, after me, after you. We can't underestimate them."

Kevin's gaze softened as he looked at Mei. "I know. That's why we need to stay ahead of them. I'll do whatever it takes to protect you and everyone else."

Mobius, still wary but somewhat reassured, looked at Kevin. "And what about Elysia? Does she know?"

Kevin shook his head. "No, and I intend to keep it that way. She doesn't need to be involved in this… side of things."

Mei nodded in agreement. "It's better that way. Elysia is… pure. We shouldn't drag her into this darkness."

Mobius sighed and finally sat down, the weight of the situation settling on her. "So, what's our next move?"

Kevin leaned forward, his expression determined. "We continue our work. Project MANTIS is our top priority. We'll use the funds I secured to enhance our research and development.

With soul bond just telport at my location if something happen.

As they continued to discuss their plans, Kevin couldn't help but notice how Mei and Mobius had changed.

Constant regeneration and the pure energy he had been providing through their soul bond had made them more beautiful, their features sharper and more vibrant.

He realized that even Mei was now fully qualified for the MANTIS operation.

However, the death of Oscar had indeed brought great tension to MOTH's corrupted higher-ups.

Behind the scenes, they were already plotting to deal with what they saw as the main brain—Mei—and using various tactics to eliminate Kevin.

Over the course of just one week, the lab buzzed with a flurry of activity.

With the combined powers of AI Bronya's predictive analysis and the Reason core, Mobius and Mei had made astonishing progress. The implantation of Honkai beast genes into human test subjects was a risky but they were desperate.

They select many criminals who were given death penalty and experiments on them.

Mobius send elysia to a mission so she didn't witness this.

However, the results were grim. Out of 9 test subjects, 7 died almost immediately. The 2 subjects survived, but not without consequences.

One became brain dead and other—his right hand had transformed into a grotesque wolf-like claw. The sheer power he exhibited was terrifying, and it was only thanks to Kevin's quick intervention that the situation didn't turn into a massacre.

"I don't like this," Mei said, her voice tinged with guilt as she looked at the test subject through the observation glass.

Mobius, however, was unfazed, her eyes gleaming with excitement as she studied the results.

"This is just the beginning, Mei. The power this subject exhibited—it's remarkable! We're on the verge of something incredible.

With more experiments, we can refine the process, eliminate the side effects, and create a new breed of warriors capable of standing against the Herrschers."

AI Bronya's voice cut through the tension, her tone as emotionless as ever. "Analysis of the 8th and 9th subject's suggests that the Honkai beast gene sequence is unstable when integrated into human DNA.

The resulting mutation leads to enhanced physical abilities but causes severe psychological and physical side effects."

So that's why one became brain dead. Kevin thought.

Mei frowned, glancing at Bronya's holographic form. "Is there any way to stabilize the gene sequence? To make the transformation safer?"

Bronya used her Reason power to analyze and adjust the genetic sequence in real-time. The effects were remarkable.

The subject's previously grotesque wolf-like hand began to revert to a more human appearance, though still imbued with enhanced strength and resilience. The transformation was stabilizing, and the subject's vitals began to normalize.

"Bronya," Mei began, her voice filled with a mixture of relief and gratitude, "you… you stabilized the genes. This might actually work for the MANTIS operation."

AI Bronya turned to face Mei, her expression still largely neutral, though there was a slight tilt to her head as if acknowledging Mei's thanks. "It was the most logical course of action, Mei-nee-san. The probability of success increased significantly with the adjustments."
