Chapter 50

Astrid’s POV

I felt like I got hit by a truck. Groggy. Nauseous. So sore.

My eyes slowly opened as I took in my surroundings. I was back in my room at the Romano villa. The curtains were pulled shut, but I could see the sunlight peeking in around the curtains. I glanced down at my arm, and I had an IV taped down.

I followed the tubing up to see that I was being given both fluids and a blood transfusion. What happened? I vaguely remembered Pietro, a brawl with the Vivace family, but honestly, it was all a big, fat blur like an ink blot painting. Vague shadows, but I didn’t see the whole picture.

I was dressed in a flowy nightdress type thing. The pattern was very ugly, but I couldn’t complain, it was comfortable. I noticed that there was a pillow under my back to keep me from lying completely flat.
