Claude’s POV

“Everything is always about power,” the Grandmaster said to Astrid. Claude noticed her eyebrows knit together in disbelief. Her eyes darted back and forth from Claude to the Grandmaster.

“Power makes the world go round. There is no better form of currency than someone that holds all the cards. Eva has held them for too long. Keeping the boundary thick unnecessarily. We are better than your kind in every way possible. It is treason to keep us from doing as we please,” the Grandmaster continued.

Claude found himself nodding along. Astrid didn’t reply, but Claude could tell that she didn’t believe a single thing that he was saying.

She didn’t understand. Claude supposed that a human never could. She lacked his superiority. His mother didn’t understand either for she took too much from her morals. Just like his father. They cared too much for these little insects.
