Chapter 17

“Dear class,

I apologize for the last-minute announcement, but due to a personal injury, today’s Thursday Culinary Basic’s class is canceled. However, the kitchen will be open for any students as long as you clean up after yourselves. Steve, the TA, will be in the staff room if anyone needs anything.

Have a good weekend: Head Chef Roberts.”

That was the email I got this afternoon. I was somewhat relieved because that meant that I wouldn’t see Isabella, but also disappointed because I really liked the class. What was I going to do that evening? I could use some more lab hours for my grade.

I thought to myself and remembered that Jessica didn’t have a Thursday night class. Rowan’s class was a workshop so they could work on their papers. I’ve never cooked for Rowan before. Maybe I could put my skills to use today.
