1 First Fall

She fell into a puff of snow, her unconscious body slowly freezing over. Frost covered trees loomed over her as she slept on. Above them, in the place of a sky, was a cold, voclay ceiling with just a small hole releasing sunlight. It clearly led to the land above.

Footsteps could be heard crunching nearby.

"what do we have here?" a deep voice said.

The figure stepped over to her, his soft pink slippers inches away from her arm. After a few minutes of thought, he stepped closer and picked her limp body off the ground. Groaning at the weight, he walked off with the girl.

. . .

Her eyes slowly battered open to the sight of a room. To her left was a small window. The outside was coated in snowy houses and people unrecognizable. Next to the window was a door that seemingly led to this icy wonderland. It was made of pure spruce with a golden handle. Ahead of her lay cupboard. The drawers looked closed and on top of that were some picture frames. These disturbed the girl. The images help by them were of two dressed up skeletons. One wearing armour and a red scarf, and the other a blue hoody and black track suit bottoms.

Had she been kidnapped by a maniac?

All these questions she had were answered in one word, "hey"

She whipped her neck round to the voice. The sight made her retaliate in fear and horror. She backed up to the edge of the bed, nearly falling off. It was the skeleton from the photo, wearing a cobalt jacket with a white fluffy parka.

"chill kid, i'm not gonna hurt ya. i mean hell" He laughed, "I saved your butt from freezing out there!"

She froze in disbelief, "Who… Who are you?" her stuttered voice whispered.

"Heh, the name's Sans, Sans she skeleton. And you are?" He said politely, standing and walking closer.

"I-I'm… My name's Holly" she mumbled.

"Well hey Holly. Welcome to the Underground." He gestured to the people outside.

Looking a little bit closer, she now noticed the figures were not human. Some were deformed surface animals, others weren't recognisable. Creatures if many feathers and beaks… claws… teeth…

Holly hid her head under the covers. Pure fear filled her. The unknown was scary.

"look kid, it's okay. admittedly, they all think you should be killed and your soul gifted to king asgore so he can free every monster. but don't worry, as long as you don't hurt anyone…" His tone had turned, rough and daring and Holly could've swore Sans's left eye was glowing a faint blue,

"then i'll protect you."

"Uh… I… I wouldn't hurt anyone… I… I can't?" She whispered.

Surprisingly, this made the skeleton laugh. Awkwardly she sat up. He stopped.

They were silent for a while until a sudden knock came from the door, "SANS!"

Another tall gentleman entered the room. It was the other skeleton from the photo.

"hey bro, what's up?" Sans said.

"YOU HAVENT GONE TO YOUR SHIFT YET!" He yelled.

"i was here looking after the kid, Pap." Sans pointed, "Papy meet Holly, Holly meet my bro Papyrus."

Papyrus glared at her. He clearly agreed with everyone else's opinion on her fate, "SANS, THAT ISNT AN EXCUSE. YOU NEED TO GET TO WORK." He said.

"Fine, lemme just put her to sleep."

Holly looked mortified towards Sans, "W-What?"

"It's alright kid, s'just we can't keep an eye on you while we're away." He said.

His hand began approaching her head. She screamed and blocked her face. He hadn't hit her, but a wave of sleep fell upon her and she passed out.
