"Come again!"
With Katsuyu Sage and countless little Katsuyus around, as long as he didn't absorb too much natural energy at once, there was no possibility of his whole body being petrified. Shigeru gritted his teeth and kept trying.
Petrification.
"Come again!"
Petrification.
"Come again!"
"More... f**k!"
Who said I have good talent?
How many times have I been petrified tonight?
Shigeru cursed under his breath, but Katsuyu Sennin was already stunned.
Is Shigeru so brave?
Why does this feel the same as Hashirama's training before?
No, no, no. The progress is much faster than Hashirama's.
Maybe Shigeru has been petrified more times than Senju Hashirama, but the speed at which he absorbs natural energy is much more exaggerated than Hashirama's.
The Katsuyu sages said nothing, though. They quietly observed Shigeru, who was starting to grow anxious.
I don't understand. I really don't understand.
The progress is obviously so fast. Why does Shigeru look so anxious?
Is this just human nature?
After Katsuyu Sage released the reverse channeling, Shigeru returned to the camp medical room to rest.
Looking at the brightening sky, Shigeru collapsed onto his bed.
"I'm exhausted."
Sage Jutsu is definitely not meant to be practiced by humans.
Recalling the events of the night, Shigeru closed his eyes in a daze.
Although it was both embarrassing and exhausting, it was still much better than Naruto's experience.
At least there was no risk of sitting on a dangerous mountaintop or enduring a disgusting insect feast like Naruto did.
It's just mucus. It's not poisonous. It's a little uncomfortable but moisturizes the skin. Many people would pay to get something like that.
Fortunately, there weren't many patients sent today. Those who had been treated didn't require constant monitoring, as the medical staff and other ninjas could handle that.
Shigeru mainly focused on developing antidotes and treating seriously injured patients.
If he had to keep up this pace every day, he'd probably collapse from exhaustion.
"Is the work in the medical room always this heavy?"
Nara Luxin was a bit surprised when he saw the listless Shigeru, who even had dark circles under his eyes.
Kid, are you okay? You're so young, yet you look more tired than an old man like me.
If not for the fact that the medical room was calm and without any scandals, and Shigeru's relationship with Tsunade was well-known, Nara Luxin might have suspected that Shigeru was sneaking around with the medical girls at night.
"Don't mention it. It's all Tsunade's fault."
Shigeru yawned but still looked drained.
He had to work during the day and was dragged by Katsuyu Sennin to practice Sage Jutsu at night. His sleep time had been reduced to less than four hours.
It was a never-ending grind.
"Tsunade-hime?" Nara Luxin was taken aback.
Shigeru waved him off. "There are some things I can't talk about. Just know that I work during the day and stay up late practicing at night."
"Oh, I see."
Nara Luxin wasn't the type to pry further if someone didn't want to explain.
"I came here today to inform you that Chiyo from Sand Village has led reinforcements into the Land of Rain. The situation is about to get worse."
Chiyo, that old woman, is already here?
Looks like the medical room is about to get much busier.
For the foreseeable future, Shigeru would likely focus on countering her poisons and developing antidotes.
Chiyo's use of poison was ruthless, and her ability to create new toxins was unparalleled. Keeping up with her would be a challenge.
Nara Luxin was here to give Shigeru a heads-up so he could prepare mentally.
But failure wasn't an option; too much depended on him, especially for Tsunade-hime.
"Ha~~~"
Yawning, Shigeru replied, "Don't worry, senior. With Orochimaru helping me, it should be fine. If even he and I can't handle it, I can send samples to Tsunade immediately."
The ninja world had countless ways to transmit messages and items, including summoning methods.
Even if Shigeru couldn't figure it out, he could use Katsuyu to send Chiyo's poison samples back to the village. Tsunade could develop the antidote and send it back quickly.
The speed was amazing, though the Katsuyus would need to move fast.
"That's reassuring, then."
While Nara Luxin was generally composed, Chiyo's poisons were a huge threat to the village. Cracking them would neutralize half of her abilities.
This wasn't an exaggeration but a fact.
For ninjas specializing in poison, if their toxins were neutralized, their effectiveness was halved.
Take Hanzo the Salamander, for example. His physical skills, swordsmanship, and teleportation techniques were top-notch, but what made him truly terrifying was his poison and his salamander summon.
Without his poison or summon, Hanzo would be reduced from a "demigod" to an ordinary high-level ninja.
It was a stark difference.
Unfortunately, the poison of the salamander was so potent that no one had yet developed an antidote. Even handling the poison itself was perilous.
Having received the response he wanted, Nara Luxin stood to leave.
"Oh, by the way, the village is sending more medical ninjas, equipment, and supplies. You'll have less stress soon."
As if.
Most of the patients Shigeru handled were critically injured cases that other medical ninjas wouldn't dare to touch. Unless the new arrivals were very skilled, it wouldn't ease his workload much.
"I hope so," Shigeru muttered, though he didn't hold out much hope.
There weren't many top-tier medical ninjas in the village, and Shigeru already knew most of them.
So he wasn't expecting a significant reduction in stress. He'd just be glad if the extra help lightened his general workload.
Given the current situation in the Land of Rain, the war wouldn't end anytime soon.
It was ironic.
The Land of Rain was in complete chaos. Konoha, Sand, and Iwa were all waging war there, dragging Rain Village into the crossfire.
Yet none of the three major villages had officially declared war.
They all tacitly agreed to fight without making it official, as declaring war wasn't in their interest.
Although Sand initiated the conflict, they didn't want the stigma of starting a war. Konoha, as the defending party, had no reason to declare war, either.
