Hogwarts' New Professor

Editor: Atlas Studios

Harry, Ron, and the rest of the team were amazed by the sudden change in weather.

"Don't tell me you learned Divination from Professor Trelawney?" Ron asked in surprise. He didn't associate this strange phenomenon with Ivan, as he didn't think even magic could do such a thing.

"If only I could learn Divination…" Ivan rolled his eyes. Prediction was definitely one of his most desired abilities, but unfortunately it was impossible to learn it solely by talent, even with his GPA.

After chatting with Harry and Ron for a while, Ivan went straight to the system to check his status.

After merging with the Thunderbird's bloodline, his overall strength had improved significantly. In fact, the most obvious improvement was that his magic scale had exceeded four hundred points, which was equivalent to four times the total magic power of an adult wizard.

Ivan could now cast all kinds of powerful spells with ease, without having to rely on the Philosopher's Stone.

The second was, of course, the fact that Transfiguration was the first to break through to Level Eight, presumably because of the Thunderbird's unique traits. He had previously learned from Ollivander that wands made from Thunderbird feathers generally enhanced a wizard's Transfiguration.

After his successful breakthrough, Ivan could clearly feel his mastery of the Transfiguration Charm improving, as if he had mastered the art of transfiguration.

If he could go a step further, he might be able to truly change the nature of objects, as the Philosopher's Stone did.

The final and most important reward was the use of new blood magic to control astronomical phenomena, such as storms and lightning during the battle with Grindelwald in the burial chamber.

Over the course of the past few days, Ivan discovered that he could also use his magic to change the weather in an area as large as a city.

He had yet to come up with a more specific use for the spell, and was only considering whether he could create an astronomical phenomenon that would be beneficial to him in battle and increase the power of some of the charms.

The train continued on its journey until it stopped at the station in the early evening. Ivan and his party followed the crowd off the train and, as usual, made their way to the castle in the carriage pulled by thestrals.

"Who do you think will be the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor this year?" Harry asked curiously.

"Whichever it is, it's going to be a bad year…" Ron gloated. Ever since they started school, Defence Against the Dark Arts professors had met miserable ends, and the only good one, Lupin, had been caught out by Snape.

Ron suddenly seemed to realise something and turned to Ivan. "You're not the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor this year, are you, Ivan?"

"Of course it wasn't me…" Ivan shook his head. The source of the curse, Lord Voldemort, was dead, but there was no telling if the spell would still be there, and he was not about to risk his life.

What if, when the time came to fight Grindelwald, bad luck struck?

Ivan therefore guessed that the position of Professor would most likely be vacant this year. After all, most of the able wizards in Britain knew better than to try to fill the vacancy.

Snape was very keen to become a professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts, but for the sake of his life, Ivan told Pierce to turn him down, as it would be a waste of his talents to teach Defence Against the Dark Arts.

"What about this year's Defence Against the Dark Arts exam? Has it been suspended?" The first thing that came to Harry's mind was his O.W.L. results, which were considered good enough to qualify him for the N.E.W.T. class.

He did not forget that, in order to become an Auror after graduation, an exceptional result in Defence Against the Dark Arts was essential.

"We don't have classes, but we still have to continue with the exam, but don't worry, as long as you pass my class, it won't be a problem," Ivan explained.

"By the way, Ivan, you haven't told us what you're planning to teach this year. Is there another class at Hogwarts?" Ron asked.

"I guess so…" Yvonne was keeping him in suspense, and had no intention of trying to decrypt it.

The Thestrals' carriage rolled slowly down the wide drive and stopped in front of the castle gates. The party climbed down in turn and entered the Entrance Hall.

As Ivan expected, there were no new faces at the professors' table, just two empty seats.

One was obviously left for him, and the other was the seat of the deceased Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. As Hogwarts had not yet elected a new Headmaster, the seat was temporarily vacant, and the school's affairs were left to the current Deputy Headmaster, Professor McGonagall.

"Come and sit down here, Ivan!" Hagrid, who was looking around the Entrance Hall, was the first to rise to his feet and greet him cheerfully, then violently slap his head. "Oh, nearly forgot, I should call you Professor Hars now!"

Flitwick, McGonagall, and the others stood up with equal enthusiasm and welcomed Ivan to join them.

Even the normally stony-faced Snape nodded as Ivan passed.

After Ivan sat down, the new school year's opening ceremony began. The Sorting Hat chanted a new song that had taken an entire year to compose in an odd tone. Then, under the guidance of Professor McGonagall, the young students sat on the chairs on the stage with trepidation.

"Gryffindor!" The Sorting Hat shouted out the house the new student had been assigned to.

Ivan watched her in a daze, while Flitwick laughed and said, "You miss it? Do you remember when you first came to Hogwarts five years ago? I remember you looking as young as these new students, but you had a lot of nerve, daring to take on a troll alone in your first year…"
