Healing Fleur

Editor: Atlas Studios

The Head of House Bohan and three Healers stood around the bed examining Fleur's face. A few moments later, one of the Healers said, "This is a unique spell, presumably some sort of unorthodox Dark Art, which I have never seen before…"

"Mr. Dean, can my face still be cured?" Fleur asked in a faint, anxious voice.

"Don't worry, Miss Delacour, there will be a way…" said Dean Bohan, trying to comfort her, but sighing to himself.

The spell that Fleur was under was extremely tricky. They had tried dozens of spells that could heal wounds, but to no avail. They could only temporarily suppress the spell on Fleur's left cheek, preventing it from spreading.

As for whether Fleur would eventually be cured, Dean Bohan was not entirely sure…

Seeing the grim expressions on their faces, Fleur realised the gravity of the situation, and the prospect of disfiguring herself caused her to lean against the headboard in pain.

Everyone present looked at each other and saw the helplessness in each other's eyes. Who would want to see a beautiful girl disfigured?

Just as they were about to say a few more words of advice, a voice came from behind them.

"Why don't you let me try?"

Hearing this, they turned around and saw Ivan and Pierce pushing the door open together.

"Are you confident, Sir Harls?" Dean Bohan asked solemnly.

"Probably," Yvonne replied casually, walking over to Fleur and examining the damage to the witch's face.

The other Healers frowned, unhappy with the interference of an amateur like Ivan, who knew that Fleur's spell was extraordinary and could have worse consequences if not handled properly.

However, with Minister for Magic Pierce by their side, no one dared to stop them.

"Do you trust me, Fleur?" Yvonne asked after a moment's inspection.

Fleur had long since run out of ideas, and seeing Ivan's confidence, she nodded without hesitation, as if clutching at straws.

"Bear with the pain, then!" Ivan said casually, pulling the charm from his belt and pressing it against the blistering side of his face.

A bright red light soon lit up from the wand, and the pain almost made Fleur cry out in pain. She instinctively tried to turn her head to avoid it, but she realized that her body was in a cast and she could not move at all.

It was the Fixed Body Charm!

Fleur was immediately aware of this, but had no idea when Ivan had cast the spell, and could not care less. The left side of her face felt as if it had touched hot lava, and because of the Fixed Body Charm, she was unable to shout and could only hold on.

Beads of sweat began to form on Fleur's forehead, neck, and back, and the healers nearby felt sorry for her.

The sight of the left side of the witch's face festering rapidly after Ivan cast the spell made her even more furious.

If not for Ivan and Pierce's status, they would have stepped forward to stop him.

However, to their surprise, Dean Bohan did not react. He only watched Ivan cast the spell intently, as if he was not prepared to berate him.

The red light from her wand soon dimmed, and half of Fleur's face was blood-red, her outer skin cracked and peeling, and then quickly healed by the Scar-Healing Charm.

Fleur, who had almost fainted from the pain, suddenly stopped feeling it. Her face felt as if it had been soaked in warm water, and when Ivan stopped casting, the effects of the Immobilization Charm disappeared as well. Fleur grabbed Ivan's wrist and said in a trembling voice, "Mirror… Quick, mirror!"

Ivan smiled, understanding Fleur's intentions, and conjured a mirror out of thin air with his wand.

Fleur trembled as she looked at herself in the round mirror. Half of her face, which had been yellow and full of blisters, had been healed by the charm, and had returned to its original appearance, even more tender and smooth than the other half!

"That's wonderful… that's wonderful… I thought…" Fleur was overwhelmed with emotion and gave Ivan a big hug. "Thank you… thank you, you saved my life again, Ivan, I can't thank you enough…"

When she saw the faces of Bohan and the others, Fleur thought she was going to be disfigured, but Ivan actually had a way of breaking the spell.

It can't be that bad, can it? Ivan broke free of the witch's embrace, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. The spell on Fleur was difficult, but after Bohan and the others dealt with it, it was no longer life-threatening. At most, there would be some residual effects on her face.

Yvonne understood, however, that for a girl as beautiful as Fleur, looks were more important than life.

The physicians looked at Fleur, who had returned to normal, and felt awkward. They had just made a decision that their injuries would not heal completely, and Ivan had broken the spell so easily.

"I happened to read about the counter-spell of this spell in a book…" Ivan explained slowly, seeing their confusion.

Understanding dawned on the Healers' faces. No matter how powerful a charm was, it could only be counter-cursed, and even a newly graduated minor wizard could break it.

Dean Bohan had his doubts, as counter-curses were generally counter-curses, unlike Ivan's earlier spell-casting.

Yvonne didn't bother to explain. The spell Fleur was under was one of Grindelwald's self-created charms from his early years. It was a tricky spell, and there was no counter-curse against it, so it was only natural that British healers would find it tricky.

However, for Ivan, who had mastered all of Grindelwald's magical knowledge, it was not difficult to find a way to remove the effects of this spell.

Seeing that Fleur had calmed down, Ivan changed the subject. "By the way, Fleur, I understand from Minister Pearce that you escaped from the French Ministry of Magic?"

When Ivan reminded her of this, Fleur immediately recalled what had happened to her in the past few days, and spoke of her experiences with fear and resentment.
