facing reality

LOREN POV

"So you're saying you're... my mother",I looked at the woman with black hair in maid clothing.

"I should check the situation outside",I came down from the bed and ran out of the house.

I was shocked and scared, this is not the country I know, I've watched movies about time traveling, did I really time travel or is everything a dream. I walked back in slowly, accepting reality and threw myself on the bed.

"Stay here, when am done with my day work, I'll get you",the mother said and left.

The blonde woman escorted the other woman out of the house.

"It seems the same thing that happened to nate last week also happened to loren after he fell, but don't worry he'll be okay",the blonde woman reassured Loren's mother as they walked outside.

Nate layed on the bed, lying next to loren.

"Why do you lay here",loren asked.

"Because it belongs to me, everything here belongs to me".

"So , this not my house?".

Nate shook his head.

" Why do you look like a ghost",loren asked.

"Have you seen a ghost?",nate asked as his eyes widened.

"No, but they're pale",Loren said.

"Am pale because am sick",Nate said.

" Why are you sick? ",Loren asked

" I don't know but Should I tell you something loren",Nate whispered.

" What?",Loren asked

" I had a similar dream to the one you spoke of, I don't remember how I look like but I remember how my enemy look like",Nate said.

" I had an enemy too, his name was..., his name was..., am sure I know it, why can't I remember? ",Loren said as he scratched the back of his head.

" It's because you're forgetting, it was the same for me.When I found out I was forgetting, I called an artist to make a painting according to the person's features as I remembered.And I can call one for you",nate said

Nate signals a servant," summon the artist and tell him to listen to loren".

She nods and left the room.

" Am tired", nate said as he slept off.

Loren looked at him," He.., just like that?"

The artist came and painted his description of his enemy.it was 2023 nate.when the artist was done he left and loren slept off. Later at night,his mother carried him and took him home.

Loren screamed when he woke up and the scream woke up his parents and his two year old sister.

"What's wrong with this child"?",the father asked.

" Who are you and where am I?,do you want to tell me you're my father and am in another century?".

" He's your father, loren"the mother said as she carried the two year old who was crying.

" Assumed mother,is this our home?",loren asked.

" Yes our home sweet home,you love this place",she said as she patted the baby in her hands to sleep.

" This ragged place?",loren eyes widened.

His father hits his back and loren sobs.

" So you have tears, well since your awake, let's go to the farm,your mum will put your sister in the care of someone",Loren's father said.

" So my mum is a maid who works in lady Magdalene,nate mother's house and you are a farmer",loren asked.

" Let's go,I see you remember that",He picks his tools and walked out with loren.

They passed nate house.

Loren saw nate through his bedroom window and waved.

Nate waved back with a smile.

He reached his father farm and watched him harvest the crops and followed him to the market to sell.

He watched soldiers passed by and he looked at them with amazement.

Loren picked a book on the ground which was named the virtues of a woman while on the way back home after farming.

He showed his father the book.

"What are you doing with that,you can't read and we're too poor to make you a scholar".

"This is about the virtues of a woman",Loren said.

The father looked at him as they walk,"how do you know that",the father reached  a stall in the market and him and the buyer were negotiating.

"The virtues of a woman written by scardar and dedicated to the heavens, virtuous women ..... "

The father and the buyer looked at him with shock.

" You know how to read?",his father asked with shock.

" Should I continue?",loren asked.

" Of course",his father said with amazement.

The market women and men gathered and watched him read.

" One bronze coin,to listen to the amazing child read!",his father removed his straw hat and people put bronze coins in it.

The father had sold all his crops for the day and earned extra by loren reading the book.

As they were on their way home, loren saw a wooden sword,picked it up and swung it on the air at different sides like a real sword.

" My beautiful wife,how did loren know how to read?",his father asked his mother with a wide smile on his face.

" He knows?,I didn't teach him,must be because of the fall,this is a good thing for us".

" My beautiful wife,it's a miracle,we are blessed,do to know how much we earned from him reading in the market?",his father kept talking till they all fell asleep.

The next day,loren followed his mum to nate house, greeting the people along the street as they walk.

Loren sat with nate in his room as his mother began her day job.

"Nate ,where's your father?",loren asked.

"My father?,he lives far away but I can see where he lives from here"

"So your father is close then,I have never seen him",Loren said.

"He's very busy,he owns the most lands,he rules the people,he listen to people complaints and many more"

Loren gasped,"your father must be rich then,buy why do you live here?".

Nate shrugged his shoulders.

"Wait,you said your father rules  the people and he owns the most lands,isn't that the king?".

" Yes,am a prince",nate covered his mouth.

" A prince?,you?a prince",loren laughed." If you're a prince,then am a general who's priority is protecting the prince".

" My mum said so",Nate said.

" Have you ever  seen the king?",loren asked and Nate shook his head.

Loren pats his shoulders"  is fine,my father can be your father"."nate,why don't you ever go out?".

"I don't have any friends",Nate said.

"How can you say that?,am your friend, nate ,follow me let's go".

They were some children that were near nates house.

They recognized loren and loren introduced them to nate.

They played local games.

Loren won the third round and danced the Wednesday dance with lady gaga song"bloody mary",playing in his head.

One of the children ran to loren's mother and told her that loren has been possessed.

"What are you doing"?",nate asked.

" Dancing,come  join me",Loren said.

"Loren!",his mother yelled.

"child what is wrong with you?",she grabs him

" Assumed mother,it's just a dance".

She shook loren," why do you keep calling me assumed mother!".

She carries loren and nate back inside the room,and laid nate on the bed.

" Don't ever go outside with nate and stay here,when am done with the day work ,I'll get you",she leaves the room .

Loren climbed the bed lying next to nate," we can't go out".

" Do you still remember your dream",nate asked.

"I do",Loren said.

"Tell me the things you saw in your dream,if you can remember",nate asked.

"Well then,I'll tell you,there were big white birds in the sky that carried hundreds of people,carriages that did not need horses,our clothing was better,the food was out of this world,it felt magical,and yes you could see a crowd in a frame"He spoke of different things and nate looked at him with amazement.

Loren sprung up," That reminds me,it's the year 1490,that means next year he will be born next year,I must kill him,next year I'll hack him to death!".

Nate gasped and was in shock when loren mentioned the words," kill" and " hack".

Loren looked at nate," oh sorry,I must have said something wrong".

The physician walked in with nates mother,holding a small bowl plate filled with liquid ,lady magdalene.

" Time for your medicine",he held nate and helped him to drink the medicine.

Loren was disgusted as nate drank it,"blurhh,is it bitter?".

Nate shook his head.

"Alright,loren let's go out,nate needs to rest", nate's mother held loren's hand and walked him out.

It was early in the morning and people could hear loren yelling.

"Don't hold me back!",loren yelled as his mother held his hand.

He loosened from her hand and ran,holding a knife and carrying a small traveling bag.

The neighbors asked her why loren was running with a knife as tan on the streets.

"He's saying he's going to another country to kill a royal,what have I done to deserve this",loren mother spoke in fear.

Everyone in the market chased after loren to bring him back.

"Don't hold me back,I'll stay there till next year and kill him as soon as he is born,am saving a lot of lives,even though I'll be known as a killer,no one will understood what I did!"

"Why is my  five year old  different!",his mother yelled.

" Loren comeback!",people yelled as they ran after him.

" Loren,where are you going!", people yelled.

A butcher caught him and carried him on his shoulders as he walked to his mother and handed him to her.

From then on,anytime loren tried to escape,his father will tie him with a rope and carry him on his shoulder.
