None but One

However as soon as she took a turn to enter the lobby she bumped into someone, causing the camera in her hands the go flying in the air and come crashing down on the floor.

Though it was a standard sized camera available to come in good use for journalists or reporters with all the right features and in a particular portable size for easy handling, it still felt like as if a boulder was released to fall upon thousands of egg shells, each cracking and crunching under the weight of the huge rock making loud enough noises for the inhabitants of these flats to awake from their slumber; only none of these apartments were currently inhabited, none but one.

For sure, neither the camera weighed as much as a boulder nor were there any egg shells on the dusty tiled flooring. It was only because of the eerie silence, left behind by the people who once roamed these halls and resided in these homes, that was haunting the dark lobbies and poor conditioned rooms that the noise of even as small an object like a camera falling caused a significant echo to resonate through the walls. Probably shaking awake the sleeping demons in the dark corners of the building, if not, then at least most certainly the devil in the other room around the corner.

If the previous situation wasn't enough to put Ford on alert of someone other than his own and Jacob's presence in this building; than this one had surely proven it to him.

Anytime now, he will come following the direction of the noise.

Any minute now, her life will without a doubt be on the verge of ending; as opposed to the imminent danger she was in now.

Scratch that, not just her life but also the boy's.

She held the quivering body of the boy whom she bumped into once more tonight, and looked at his round large eyes still dripping with fear and uncertainty towards her.

Oh no! The poor boy.

Now she knows what had gotten him so afraid. He must have seen the whole thing.

His innocent soul have witnessed the harsh and cruel reality of tyranny and abuse that potentially comes with adulthood –in the case of some people – at such a young and impressionable age.

After watching such an unperceivable act for his childish mind-set, unfold in front of his eyes, he would have been confused and scared for his own life. She could tell he doesn't know who to trust and who to go to for help, hence he doubts if she was worthy of his trust or if she was in cahoots with the same evil man.

As much as she wants to sooth the poor tiny quivering boy, coax him into trusting her and believing she only means well, unfortunately she have rather more important matters to deal with, first.
