Medical Examination

Her well maintained jade-like skin glowed under the warm light of the sun. Her eyes were as clear as limpid autumn water. And her succulent lips which were as red as blood were still as beautiful as ever.

Of course these were Si Jianyu's thoughts. He gulped, shaking his head to clear his useless thoughts,

"Say, do you mind bringing me out for a while?"

Recalling the instructions given to him by her grandparents, he politely turned her down. "I can't do that, Young Miss."

"You keep calling me Young Miss, you should call me Baozhai."

Si Jianyu's eyes widened. It was all strange to him. They have been working for long and she never spoke to him except necessary. All of a sudden, she wants him to address her by her name, he couldn't help but wonder if she hit her head when she fell. "I can't do that Young Miss," he repeated.

Aside from that, she even asked him questions about his life… his personal life. Not that he did not appreciate or did not like it… it was all too strange. Just yesterday she spoke to him with monosyllabic words and did not care if he was in an accident as long as he got her her coffee. Today she was all sweet... asking for his age too.

Li Baozhai raised an eyebrow, "I seem to recall you calling me by my name just before I passed out."

"About that, I thought you'd respond to your name rather than title."

"Why would you think that?"

"Well, statistically speaking, people are more likely to respond to their names than their titles."

Truthfully, he was surprised and unconsciously called out her name, it had nothing to do with statistics… he just made that up. He had no idea if there was truth to it.

"You can call me Baozhai." She repeated not paying attention to his expression. Just before their deaths, didn't he call her that? A while ago, the same thing, was there really a need to act courteous?

"I don't think it's appropriate."

Si Jianyu shifted on his feet. Conversely, he would love to get close to her and address her by her name, she was still his boss. She was both the eldest miss of the Li family and the interim CEO of their company. He was merely her subordinate, how could he do that?

Li Baozhai glanced at him with indifference. Not wanting to push him any further, she spoke, "As you see fit. Anyway, help me up. I wouldn't want to be late especially since I don't have an appointment."

Si Jianyu proceeded to her bedside before stopping. He recalled her condition, she was required to rest in bed. Old Master and Mistress had also warned him not to let her do as she pleased. He was caught in a fix. Listen to his boss or her grandparents?

Li Baozhai watched him daddle. She understood his predicament. Granted that it wasn't even an hour since her grandparents instructed him to make her rest and she wanted to leave. He would surely contemplate his next action.

"Not to worry, it's the hospital."

His brows creased when he heard her. The family doctor was here a while ago, still she wanted to head to the hospital?

"Aren't you helping?"

"Young Miss…"

"I know what you're thinking, just help me get to the hospital."

Si Jianyu was not sure her reason but since she was heading to the hospital, it wasn't against the instruction to let her rest, was it?

Just as he reached for her hands, she changed her mind. "Go bring up a car, make sure no one sees you… just in case, wait for me outside the gate."

If they were to walk out together, she might be spotted. And then the questions would keep coming. She did not want that.

"Ask the maids not to disturb me, I'll be there soon."

While it may be true that her instruction was suspicious, he could only follow. Any question will be left for later.

A few minutes after Si Jianyu left, Li Baozhai changed into something more comfortable and then she snuck out of the house without raising alarm.

Spotting the car parked by the gate, she dashed into it, gesturing for him to drive away. Her actions made him curious but he held back from asking anything.

Specifically because the Li family doctor worked in Zi'an Hospital, Li Baozhai instructed him to drive to a private hospital.

Even though she did not have an appointment, Si Jianyu was able to get her to run a comprehensive test as soon as she got into the hospital.

What surprised him was the fact that she not only tested her body but her mind. He could understand her reason for a full body check but not the mind. Si Jianyu wondered if her fall really affected her head. Was she so stressed by the Qingming festival that she didn't trust her mind?

As she awaited the result for the tests, she requested to chat with an experienced psychiatrist.

Li Baozhai was aware of the fact that all the tests she had run in her previous life showed there was nothing wrong with her body. The one for her mind was different though as she was labeled crazy even before a definite test.

There was something that bugged her though. Just before she died, Si Jianyu had told her that there was nothing wrong with her. The conversation between her cousins also replayed in her mind.

Apparently, the reason why she was like that was because of "their" schemes... whoever they are. Both Zhuge Xia and Si Jianyu had discovered the truth so they came to save her. This is what she deducted from her final moments. Whether it was accurate or not, she had no idea. She just needed to find the truth.

Si Jianyu opened the door for her but he remained standing outside as Li Baozhai instructed.
