It was a delicious scent of crushed red petals mixed with expensive white wine. A scent that invaded his dreams night after night. Chapter 13: Caught

Back to Reid's POV

What the hell?

A frown formed on my face as I stared in disbelief at what I saw through my french windows. Impossible. Sunn was.. gay? No, that didn't make any sense, she was my mate. I knew that what I felt for her wasn't fake. Could I have been wrong though? Was that the reason why she had been rejecting me? Why she turned down every shot I sent her way? I had so many questions, but so few answers. Somehow I was certain that there wasn't an easy explanation for what I was looking at.

Confused, I watched on as Sunn pulled Tsuki in for another steamy kiss. They looked so happy and comfortable together. Something I was undoubtedly envious of. I wished Sunn would look at me with the same love and adoration that she was bestowing upon Tsuki. I had a good mind to march down there and demand some answers. A knock came at my door bringing my attention elsewhere. Great. Just what I needed. Someone bothering me. At freaking seven in the morning.

"Hey, man. I was on my way over to Starbucks. Do you need anything?"

Keenan entered my office without so much as an invitation from me. I guess he felt that he was welcomed in regardless. He could tell that I was distracted by something so he came over to the window where I stood. He shoved my shoulder in a playful manner. "You're such a stalker," he joked. "Y'know if you had followed my advise she would have been in bed with you by now," he went on to say with a chuckle.

I watched as the smile slowly died on his lips when he saw who Sunn was outside with. He wore an expression on his face that was hard to read. "When did this start?" he demanded in a gruff voice. I shrugged my shoulders. Hell, if I knew.

Good. Someone was just as worked up about the situation as I was.

"I'm going down there," Keenan said, clearly upset. My head whipped around so fast, I'm surprised it didn't break on impact. What? Without another word he stalked off towards the elevator. Keenan could be a bit of a hot head at times so I jogged along with him just to make sure he wouldn't do anything rash.

The elevator doors dinged open and I don't know how the ground floor button was still in tack after he was through with smashing it. I had no idea why he was so livid. If anything I should be the one who was furious. I tried to talk some sense into him while we were in the elevator. "Bro, try to take it easy. You're tripping." He gave me a glare that silenced me.

The doors flew open and he all but ran over to where the girls were. He grabbed Tsuki roughly by the arm and spun her around. Her face registered shock, her lip-glossed lips formed into a round "O" and that was the only thing I saw before Keenan placed a deafening slap across her cheek. The impact from the blow made her fall to the ground crying. I rushed over to Keenan, grabbing him up by his shirt collar and slamming him mercilessly into a nearby wall. "What the fuck, man?" I barked in his face. The fuck was that all about?

I had known Keenan for over fifteen years and if someone had told me that he was capable of doing what he had just done, I would have full on laughed in their faces. He had always been so jovial and happy-go-lucky. Tears began to well up in his eyes as realization dawned on him. He struggled to break free from my grasp, but I wouldn't ease up on him. I still held him pinned against the wall. If Tsuki decided to she could very well press charges against him. Not that I would blame her if she did choose to go that route. What he did was uncalled for.

"I need to apologize to Tuski," he sobbed.

Around us, I could see a few people murmuring and some even decided to pull their phones out to capture the moment. Fuck. This was not good. A stunt like this could definitely hurt my business. What the fuck was he thinking, man.

I all but dragged Keenan back into the building while noticing that the girls had disappeared as well. I didn't blame them. A commotion was starting to brew outside. Perfect start for my already perfect morning, huh?

I hauled Keenan upstairs and told him to take the rest of the week off. I needed to straighten out a few things. What was up with him and Tsuki, anyway? I was back in my office, trying to salvage the damage when my door burst wide open.

Excuse me?

I looked up and my eyes were met with a fiery Sunn. "What was that all about?" she screamed, with her eyes throwing daggers at me. Was this girl working for a suspension or what? I released a sigh, forcing myself to remain calm. It was already a shit ton of a morning, no need to make it worse, I reasoned.

"You can close my door on your way out," I answered her.

I could see that she wanted to argue with me but at the very last minute decided that that probably wasn't a wise choice so she slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

I felt like I was dealing with hormonal teenagers.

Moments passed and there was another knock at the door. I groaned inwardly. I just needed some time alone to work through this mess. Was that too much to ask? Lyndnn poked her head inside. She wore a sympathetic look on her face. "Hey," she said softly entering the office and closing the door behind her. "Do you need any help with anything?"

Relieved, that someone actually wanted to fix the situation, I told her to scour the social media platforms to see if anyone had posted anything. Maybe I could turn what just happened into some kind of publicity stunt. In the words of infamous Oscar Wilde wasn't all publicity good publicity?
