Coal turned to look back when he heard the former warn him. Coal had been very polite, not showing his exact nature as he had been hiding it very well all these years.

King Atlas's eyes kept looking at the man when his lips curled into a smirk. He knew the man in front of him was sensible and would now think about his words.

Dominic had all his father's traits in him, but the only difference between them was Atlas would take the permission before doing anything. In contrast, Dominic would just snatch whatever he wanted. They didn't call him ruthless just to describe his character, but the king was one of the rare species who wouldn't even consider anyone's problem and just go with what he had in his mind.

"It was my thought to ask you politely, but if you reject.." he paused, got up, walked down the steps, and stood in front of Coal before speaking," then... let my son handle it."

Coal has seen how merciless the king of Azov was, but how come he is alive? Didn't he hear from Leonard that the king was dead? How can he ask for my daughter's hand? Then, he kept looking at Atlas with a confused look.

"Are you thinking how he is alive?" Atlas could guess what he was thinking. And his thinking was agreeable.

A few days ago, when they couldn't find Dominic's whereabouts, they thought he was dead, but, after someday, when Dominic met his father secretly in his chamber, he found the real reason behind his false news.

"You know we royals like to keep things under wrap.. and I think you don't have to go in depth. We just need your daughter for my son and in return, we would spare you" he didn't want to tell him everything but only wanted him to accept his proposal.

***********************

Ava was back from the market when she saw the main door open. She creased her brows when she saw the door of her house empty. She saw her father sitting on the chair with his face hiding in his palm.

Concerned, she strode to her father, keeping the vegetable bag on the table.

"Father are you not well?" she asked, making him look at her.

He looked tired, as if he had been having a hard time the whole day. Ava knew her father was not someone who would stress so much. He was good at his profession, and draining him was next to impossible, but now he didn't look like he was tired because of his work. The look was something else.

"Ava..." he called her, holding her hand.

Coal was scared by what he heard from the former king. How was he supposed to let his daughter marry a person he had been trying to avoid? But to keep her safe, he had no other option. Her safety mattered most to him, even if he had to keep her under their guidance.

His father's words kept ringing in his ears," It's her fate to marry him. He would be her sole protector."

Coal closed his eyes, trying to bring up the courage to speak to his daughter. The girl he protected all these years with all his might would leave him soon. Even if he tried to fight them, he still couldn't. He was just a powerless man who had lost his powers when he left his origin and decided to live as an ordinary man.

He still didn't know if his daughter carried any of his power. He had never let her know about her birth and had kept their identities hidden all this while. But what if she finds out about it?

He looked at her with a troubling emotion. How was he supposed to tell her to marry someone she didn't know...

"Ava... I need to tell you something" he started to speak as his hold on her hand tightened.

Ava could feel her father struggling with his words; he had never been this helpless and scared in front of her.

"Father, you're scaring me."

Coal took a deep breath and looked into her eyes. He had to talk to her and make her accept his words... He was just helpless and only wanted his daughter to be safe.

"The former king of Azov had called me," he said and gulped the lump in his throat," The king of Azov wants to marry you" he completed his words and loosened his hold on her hand when he saw how shocked she was.

"Father..." she gasped after he spoke.

The words came like a blow to her mind, making her freeze.

How did a situation arise in her life, and why would the king ask her to marry him when she never even saw him? And him asking her to marry her was something that disturbed her.

A few hours ago,

"It would be my daughter who would have the liberty to marry whoever she wants. She had been her person to decide for her life, and as her father, I respect her every decision."

Coal was not going to give in. He knew very well how the royals were. They were someone who would have different women daily to satisfy their needs. And he didn't want his daughter to end up with one of them.

"Then I need to use my power to make you accept it" Coal heard a voice behind his back.

He looked back to see Dominic walking from the large door of the living hall. He was as powerful as he had imagined him to be. No one would doubt that his enemy had attacked him because his powerful aura covered it all.

"If you don't agree then, I need to show you what are the consequences to reject the king" he smirked and snapped his finger calling the guards.

Coal's eyes popped out in shock when he saw Leonard and Juliet being captivated by them. He turned to look at Dominic with horror all over his face. How did he know? He thought.

"You all have been hiding very well, but witches like you don't suit a human life" Dominic looked at them as he spoke.

Coal was shocked to the core. How did he know about them, or was there something he didn't know about the royals? He knitted his brows and looked at the couple held by the royal guards.

"Coal... he is not what he looks like", Leonard huffed in anger, looking at Dominic.

"What do you mean?"

"They have been hiding who they are", Juliet spoke and tried to free herself, but she was powerless inside the castle.

When they captured them, she tried to cast a spell on him, but even if she tried, he was not affected at all. And that was when they realized he was not the average human they thought he was.

"The whole kingdom is powerful Coal. Even our magic wouldn't affect them" Leonard tried to fight him, but he was too strong for his strength.

"If you don't want me to kill them, convince your daughter to marry me, and in return, I promise to cherish her and spare their life" Dominic's words contained dominance in them, but even though he sounded toneless, Coal still felt his words honest. As if he meant everything that he said now.

Coal knew he had lost his powers, and to protect his daughter, he needed to have some strong backup. The vampire's where already aware of her existence and was following her. If he wanted to keep his daughter safe, he needed their support.

Taking a deep breath, he looked at the couple before speaking," I will convince her but she doesn't know about us. Promise me you will protect her with all you have" he gave a stern look asking him to confirm by not backing on his words.

"I don't back on my words", he confirmed.

Present,

"I know it will be selfish of me to ask you to marry him, but those royals are not normal people. They are more than what they seem to be," he said, looking at her still self.

Coal didn't expose her to their identities. He just told her that the people in the royal were not as human as they were.

Ava was trying to grab her father's every word. Was he pressured by the king, which made him so helpless? Her father was just a typical physician. Why did he abduct Juliet and Leonard?

All this was so confusing to her brain. She didn't know how her life changed all of a sudden. Karissa's parents were held by the royals, the king asked for her to marry him, and the most shocking thing was her father accepting their proposal.

Was there something she didn't know? And why would her father accept them when he always supported her in her every decision? She needed to know what the king exactly said to make her father that made him agree with them.

"They want the marriage to be held in our house away from anyone's knowledge," he said and stood up.

He had to do this if he wanted her to be safe. By now, she was convinced by his father's words. There was no way a powerless witch like him would protect his daughter.

"Father, I didn't agree to marry him in the first place" she stood, shocking her father.

Coal knew this would happen. He knew Ava was not someone who would just agree to him without knowing the reason.
