Dylan knocked and then entered Mama Adams room when she responded. She turned her head towards the door and smiled at him.
He was relieved by that smile and reassured as he wasn't sure what to expect from her. He knew she liked him but he wasn't sure that any woman would give her son away to another man willingly. Not in this world where every parent wants their children to get into heterosexual relationships so that they could give them grandchildren.
"Come in son. Come and sit here," she said as she patted the side of her bed exactly where Leo was sitting a while back.
"Thanks auntie," he said while he smiled at her and sat.
"Auntie? You are still calling me auntie?"
"And here l was thinking that you now think of me as a mother since you already have my son as your boyfriend!" She said pouting. "You can go. I will never agree to this union," She pretended to be offended and feigned anger as she pretended to sleep and cover her face.
'Aaah! So this is where Leo got his cockiness from? I see.' Dylan thought as he smiled seeing how his in law was behaving.
"Sorry mother. I thought you won't be comfortable with me calling you mom and I wanted to ask for your permission first. Forgive me. If you don't, I'm going to sit here all night singing any forgiveness song I can think of until you forgive me.
I Love Lee so much and I don't think I can live without him. So, if all it takes is to sing to his mother the whole night to get her consent, then I am willing to do it for him," he finished sadly as he patted her back.
She peeped from the duvet smiling but she didn't want him to see her smile.
"Really? Like really? You really love my son?" She asked.
"Yes au.... Mom. I've loved Leo for seven years now," he said and that made her shoot from her hiding.
"What? How long did you say?" She asked surprised.
"Careful mom. Such sudden movements could hurt your back. Let me adjust the pillows for you," he said as he moved to help her lie well.
She had thrown the pillows here n there when she jerked out of her hiding after she heard what he had said.
He started talking as he helped her lie down more comfortably, "Yes mom. I fell in love with Leo the moment I saw him when we were joining form one. There was you, Kay, Leo and uncle. My mom was there with me and that's when I first felt my heart jolt. But I didn't stay in that school for long because my mom fell sick and I had to transfer.
Then, I didn't follow him for the four years of high school. I had just started my business and I wanted to be someone Leo can be proud of when he saw me again.
After high school, I sent some of my people to go and look for him for me and that's when they found out all that happened. How Timothy threw you out of the house and company after uncle's death.
After more investigations, we found Leo working at a run down street eatery in the slums. And because I didn't want him to know me that way, I had to get him, you guys out of the slums slowly by slowly.
I knew Leo was a proud man and if I went to him like Leo, l'm Dylan and I'm here to help you' he would beat me up and never talk to me.
So, I sent my mom's sister, Pendo, to recruit him in one of her cafes and that's how he got the job at Café Pendo.
After that, I followed him daily but he didn't know. I just wanted to make sure he was okay because I didn't know what Timothy would do because his daughter was in the same class I was in so I suspected he knew that you guys had moved to city M.
I came to realize later that it was a ploy from them to make me marry Emily but | hated her from the moment I heard that she was the one that threw you out of the house and didn't allow you to take even your clothes.
Anyway, after that, I followed Leo one morning as he was going to the market and when he took a rest, I pretended to talk to my mom about wanting someone to work for me and Leo fell into my trap. I now could take care of him without him suspecting thatI had ulterior motives.
And from there you know the rest. The reason why I have told you all that mom is so that you can see that I'm not with Leo as a whim. I'm with him for life. I love him and I won't let anyone or anything hurt him. I would rather die than watch him go through pain again," he finished and looked at the woman who was now lying comfortably in her bed listening intently.
She held his hand and said, "Dylan, son, I have all the answers to all the questions I wanted to ask.
Thank you for loving my son. I can now die in peace. I know my boys will be well looked after," she finished with a smile.
"Don't talk about death mom. I want you to be here to witness your, our, enemies fall. I've already talked to my sister and she, with her team, are working on your case. There is a possibility that you can walk again.
Don't you want them to see you well? Don't you want to walk Leo and Kay down the aisle? Don't you want to see your grandchildren?" He asked as he squeezed her hand lovingly.
She smiled at him and nodded her head, "Yes, I want that," she said.
"I promise to take care of Leo mom. You don't have to worry," he said reassuringly as he still held her hand.
"I know you will. I know you will," she finished and wished him a good night.
He made sure she was comfortable and wished her a good night too and walked out with a smile.
One down.
This is what he was hoping for, her blessings and here he was.
