The Breakup

"Why Derek, Why...?

How could you do this to me? I've loved you for two years! But you... You have the heart to cheat on me like this? Are you even a human?" She screamed and yelled at the person in front of her.

Tears flew down her rosy cheeks but she didn't care as she was so devastated and heartbroken. Her heart, which was once filled with joy and delight, now shuttered into pieces like a smashed glass.

Those tiny pieces pinched her heart again and again, making it tremble and scream in pain. Just like that, all Freya felt was nothing but utmost pain.

"Why?" She asked once again. This time, her voice turned into a whisper as if she finally accepted the reality in front of her.

"The person he loves isn't you. It's me. He only loved me and he'll always love me." A girl with red wavy hair cling to the boy beside her as she spoke.

Freya laughed. She laughed at them, at her and this weird world. Why was she so silly? Why didn't she understand this bitter truth sooner?

"As the saying goes, a country bumpkin will always be a country bumpkin." The redhead girl said again, her voice filled with sarcasm.

"Leenia, that's enough!" A skinny girl snapped at her. She looked like a boy as she had very short hair.

"It's okay Deena. She's right. I'm nothing but a poor girl. I'm not up to Derek's standards at all." Freya consoled her tomboy friend.

The blonde boy remained silent all the time as if he was feeling guilty. Leenia sneered.

"I'm glad you finally realized how lowly you are." Then she turned to Derek.

"Let's go, Deer babe. We shouldn't waste our time on such people." Saying that she pulled the boy along with her as she went outside the mall, leaving Freya and Deena alone. Luckily, it wasn't a crowded day and the place they met was isolated at the moment.

Freya dropped to the floor as she wept.

Tears were still flowing down her cheeks without stopping. She tried her best not to cry, but her efforts were useless as they didn't stop from coming out. She helplessly raised her hand and wiped off her pearls like tiny tears which were hanging on her long, curly eyelashes.

Deena sighed worriedly while glancing at her sympathetically.

"Crazy bimbo!" She uttered after like an hour or two.

Freya nodded vigorously.

"Yeah, I know that I'm the stupidest person ever in this world. But... but... I can't help it."

Her sobbing continued.

Deena pinched her hand.

"Ouch! What are you doing? It hurts!"

Freya spared her a death glare.

Deena laughed lightly.

"Here you are... My fierce kitty. Don't you want to get your revenge? All you are doing is just wailing here until your eyes are swollen, ha? Hmph! It's not worth wasting your tears on some jerky person like Derek. Do you understand what I mean?"

Freya meekly nodded her head.

"But what should I do?" She asked, blinking her big, round eyes. "Look, he already left me with that woman even without saying a single word."

Deena's heart melted immediately at her friend's sorry state.

"Don't you worry. I have a great plan. And it's a win-win situation for both of you." She claimed.

"Both of us? Who's the other person? You didn't mean Derek, did you?"

Freya raised one of her eyebrows, looking confused.

"Dummy! It's my brother Karson."

Freya widened her eyes.

"Ka-Karson? That scumbag? Are you nuts? No way!" She blurted out angrily.

Deena held her hands.

"Freya, Karson is definitely not a scumbag. Look, Freya, listen to me for a bit."

She tightened her grip on her.

"The prom is also coming. You have to find a boyfriend ASAP to show off to Derek and at the same time, my brother needs a girlfriend... Of course a fake one. So you can act like his girlfriend. It's not a big deal."

Freya hit her lightly on her shoulder.

"You want to take advantage of my critical moment. You're not a good friend. I don't wanna talk to you again."

Freya blamed her without stopping like an open tap. Deena grinned as she said, "Dear, I'm trying to help you with a pure heart. Do you want to go to prom alone and silently watch Derek displays public affection with Leenia in front of you? Do you really want that?"

Freya was silent for a few seconds and then she sighed heavily, finally giving up.

"Okay, Let's do that. But... how do you convince Karson? You know... he's such a weirdo who doesn't even care about his own sister."

Deena lowered her gaze.

"Don't say that Freya. He actually cares about me although he doesn't show it on the surface."

Her voice got lower and lower.

Freya scoffed sarcastically. She forgot her own problem when they came to this topic.

"Oh yeah! He's the best brother ever, right? Hey, Dee don't joke with me." She said, through gritted teeth like she was the one who got the bad treatment.

She went on and on.

"Almost everyone knows how he treats you. Don't take his side. He doesn't deserve it."

Deena didn't want to talk about this case any further.

"At least he's better than your Derek." She uttered, hoping to change the topic. There was a hidden mockery in her voice.

Freya: "..." She was so mad that her face turned red in anger.

"Hey, you better watch out your words. He's not my Derek anymore. I hate that jerk. He's better off with that witch. What a perfect match made in heaven."

Deena chuckled.

"Yep, exactly. I totally agree."

Then she averted her gaze to her wristwatch.

"Baby girl, I have to leave you now. Let's meet tomorrow, okay?"

Freya hesitated.

"Y-you... Can you really ask your brother to be my boyfriend? Will it succeed?"

Deena pondered for a moment before speaking.

"The success rate will be like 74.9999909 and another 9. But don't worry, your maid will definitely try her best, your grace."

Freya nodded her head, satisfied.

"Okay then."

"Oh, I forgot something," Deena claimed, kinda anxiously.

Freya frowned.

"What? Is it important?"

"Obviously. It isn't easy to become my bro's girlfriend. His ex left him because she did something inappropriate."

Freya was curious.

"What is it?"

"She asked about his family and other private things as she was obsessed with his private matters and... as a result, he dumped her."

Freya was utterly dumbfounded.

"What a psycho! Is it a sin to ask such a thing? As his girlfriend, doesn't she have the right to know these things?"

"Not at all." Deena blurted out.

"I mean.. Yes, no. Hmm... It's like this. He doesn't like gossipy people. So you should be extra careful around him."

Freya found it so strange. A pang of regret bubbled up inside her heart. How can she manage to handle such a nutcase? Apparently, being his girlfriend didn't look like an easy task.

"I'll send you more details on Twitter. Now lemme goooo!"

Freya rolled her eyes, pulling out a tissue pack from her bag to wipe her face which was wet with tears.

"Who held you, idiot?"

Freya looked in the direction where Deena had left until her figure completely vanished from her eyesight. Then she dropped her shoulders, looking miserable. Yep... She was quite miserable. She didn't know what to do at all as she felt that her life was empty.

She was stuck in this weird town which was filled with heartless people like Derek and Leenia. She didn't know the way to escape or counterattack. However, she realized that crying all day wouldn't solve her problems.

"Derek, you wait and see. I'll definitely make you regret dumping a girl like me!"
