After everyone was sorted into their houses Gemma Farley, our female prefect lead us up to our common room in the dungeon

"This way guys! hurry up!" she spoke loudly getting all the First year slytherin's to follow her

"Quickly now, come on" She ushered us into the common room after showing us how to get in and we all gathered around the leather sofas that were placed in the centre of the room

"Welcome to the Slytherin common room, The boys dormitories are upstairs and down to the left, and girls the same on your right, you'll find that all of your belongings have already been brought up" She smiled as everyone looked around

"I'm going to go find my room, i'll see you later?" I said turning to face Draco

"Sure" he nodded, i turned away and went to go to my room

I went up the stairs and took a right seeing all the girls dormitories, i found my room and walked in

"Not as pretty as i thought it would be" a girl giggled from behind me

i turned around to see a blonde girl smiling at me

"I'm Shayna Mckenna" She smiled

"Nice to meet you, I'm Ivory Thorns" I smiled back

"Thorns? mother of Merlin!" her eyes went wide

"Please treat me like everyone else at this school, i don't want to be treated differently because of who my family is" i said sitting on my bed

"of course" she nodded, closing the door and sitting on her bed across from me

"Is it just us this room?" i questioned noticing that in our room there were only two beds

"Yeah all the other rooms are already full" I nodded in response

"I see you and Malfoy are already friends" she laughed

"i wouldn't say we're friends just yet" i shook my head and grabbed my bags to unpack

"yet? he seems like such a jerk though, why would you want to be friends with him?" she asked

"There's just something about him i guess" i shrugged putting clothes in my wardrobe

Later on that night i had just finished writing a letter to my parents telling them about how my first day went and how i got sorted into slytherin

"The Thorns Mansion" i spoke giving my owl the letter, i opened the window and let him fly away to deliver my letter

i grabbed a book from the shelf that Shayna and i sorted out, we both loved to read and had brought many books so we managed to fill up two whole bookcases

I brought the book downstairs with me to the main part of the common room

i sat on the leather sofa and let the fire place heat up, i snuggled up and started to read my book

An hour had past and i was starting to get tired , i decided it was time to go to bed so i would be prepared for my first day of lessons tomorrow

"What are you still doing awake Thorns?" i turned around and saw draco standing there

"i could ask you the same thing Malfoy" I said raising an eyebrow

"i couldn't sleep" he replied

"I was just finishing a few more chapters" i said holding up my book for him to see

he nodded "anyways i'm off to bed, Try and get some sleep" i said walking towards my room

"Goodnight Draco" I smiled

"Goodnight Ivory" He said before we both walked to our separate rooms

I woke up bright and early to see Shayna still asleep, I looked at the time and grabbed my clothes from my wardrobe then headed to the bathroom that we had in our room

As i was getting out the shower i heard knocking at our room, the door opened and i could hear a young male voice talking

"Tell her i'm waiting in the common room" Was all i heard before the door closed again

"Ivory! Draco is waiting for you in the common room" Shayna shouted through the door so that i could hear

"Ok thank you!" i shouted back getting dressed into my uniform

I grabbed my robe and walked out my room, shayna had already left to go to herbology class while i had Transfiguration class with professor Mcgonagall

"Took you long enough" Draco said rolling his eyes

"you didn't have to wait for me" i laughed putting on my robe

"well hurry up or we're going to be late" He groaned dragging me out the common room

We made our way to our Transfiguration class and surprisingly we were the first there

"i told you we wouldn't be late, idiot" i said rolling my eyes and placing my things on my desk

Draco didn't say anything and just sat down next to me

The class soon started minutes later and we sat in silence as we were doing our work when all of a sudden the door to the classroom opened loudly, Harry and Ron rushes into the room

"w-we made it" Ron placed his hands on his knees while out of breath "Could you imagine the look on Mcgonagall's face if we were late?!"

I laughed to myself and looked down at my desk nudging draco with my arm, he was also laughing quietly at the two stupid boys

Professor Mcgonagall transformed from the grey cat that sat on her desk back into her normal self

"That was bloody brilliant!" Ron said amazed looking up at the professor

"oh thank you for that assessment Mr Weasley, perhaps it would be more useful if i transfigured yourself and Mr Potter into a pocket watch, that way one of you might be on time" She said looking disappointed at the two

"we got lost" Harry spoke up and Ron just nodded

"Then perhaps a map? i trust you don't need one to find your seats" Professor Mcgonagall said walking back to her desk

Harry and Ron made there way to their desks in front of us

"Try being on time to class next time you idiots" i whispered

Draco laughed at my comment "Shut up" Ron rolled his eyes and turned around

"Malfoy slow down!" i shouted catching up to Draco and his two "body guards"

"i know you want to be friends but there is no need for you to stalk me" he said sarcastically

"ha ha ha very funny" i rolled my eyes and we carried on walking to our next class, Potions with professor Snape.

Everyone was chatting in the room but as soon as the door swung open it went completely silent

Snape walked in "There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class" He said with a very monotone voice

"as of such i don't expect you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making, However for those select few, Who possess the predestination, i can teach you how to bewitch the mind and in snare the senses, i can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper in death"

I looked at Draco and he seemed completely mesmerised by the words that were coming out of Snape's mouth

This seemed to be a class we both very much enjoyed, even if it was with Professor Snape.

"Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in position of ability's so formidable that you feel comfortable to not pay. attention."

I followed Snape's eyes and turned around to see him aiming everything he was saying at Potter

Hermionie nudged Harry and nodded towards Snape, He instantly dropped his quill and looked at the professor staring at him

Snape slowly walked over "Mr Potter" he said sharply

"our new celebrity" he said taking a slight pause after each word

Snape started asking harry questions but he didn't know the answer to any of them

Hermionie and I raised our hands for each question but Snape didn't care

"Clearly, Fame isn't everything. Is it Mr potter" Snape said firmly

Draco had a big grin on his face while looking at Potter

i laughed slightly before going back to paying attention, Snape was right. Fame isn't everything.
