14 The Confession

Billie Bob Jones

"Would you like some ice?" I said over my shoulder as I looked back to Benedito who sat down by one of the island chairs scrolling through his phone with pursed lips. He seemed to have not heard a word I was saying as he typed. "Dito?"

"Yes," he quickly looked up to meet my eyes.

"Would you like ice with your drink?" I chuckled.

He thought for a moment before answering, "Yes."

"Alright," I turned back to the fridge and opened the freezer. I put a few ice cubes in a glass and poured the iced tea Delilah always made then handed it over to him.

We had been discussing plans and different ways to improve the security of the ranch for the past two hours. The sun had long set by then and hunger had set in. I had not had any dinner and I was famished.

"Are you hungry?" I asked the man in front of me who was staring at his phone once again.

"I had dinner before I came," he looked up to me then tilted his head, "are you hungry?"

"Yep, I didn't have dinner," I pouted before I turned to rummage the fridge. Yet once again most of the food Delilah had made last night was gone because damn Rob ate it all during lunch

"I'm sorry about that," Dito frowned, "let me order something for you."

"No it's fine I can just order a pizza or something," I shrugged.

"No I insist," he smiled, stood up from his chair and left the kitchen to call someone. A few minutes later he came back before taking his seat, "Food will be here in fifteen minutes."

"Thank you," I looked down to the ground. I had no idea what was on his phone that had taken his attention off work for a few minutes, but I found the silence boring. He continuously sighed or mumbled something in Portuguese that I obviously did not understand leaving me very frustrated.

I was a very curious person and not knowing things drove me made.

Yet I also took his distraction with welcomed arms. I hoped he would get tired so I could head to bed early tonight. My eyes studied him as he typed away on his phone. I figured he was answering emails or whatever billionaires did. His eyebrows were furrowed as he glared at the screen of his expensive brand new phone.

His upper lip slightly twisted to a snarl and his broad shoulders became rigid. He looked so out of place in his designer clothes in my little cream white kitchen. His body barely fit on the island chair because of how large he was. At times I got worried he would hit his head on the top of the door frame because of how tall he was, but luckily he never did.

By now I could tell Benedito was a man of few words. He did not speak unless spoken too or if he really had something to say. Once he was done with whatever he wanted you to know that would be the end of the conversation and that was that.

Even now as I studied him under my sunglasses my curiosity to find out more about the mysterious man in front of me was extremely high. Like why he had so many tattoos and what they meant to him?

My eyes followed the snake that spanned from his elbow down to his wrist. The head of the snake was on his hand whilst multiple tiny tattoos covered most of his skin. The gold flicker of his watch caught my eye. It was encrusted in diamonds and looked a lot like the one he had gifted me.

The hands of the watch did not tick but smoothly went around without making a sound. I figured it was a Rolex as well, whatever that was. I wanted to ask him if he had bought me the same watch intentionally but there was a knock on my door.

"I'll get it," he said and quickly stood up to go answer it.

"Bobby, how lovely to see you again?" Pedro smiled as he followed Benedito into the kitchen followed by two other people who held heavy bags.

"Same to you Pedro," I grinned, "What's going on?"

"We're here to set up dinner for you," he answered, "where's the dining room?"

"Just round the corner," I raised my eyebrow. They quickly left and I stared at Dito with a 'what the hell?' face. "Pizza could have been just fine."

"That's not dinner," he answered. I rolled my eyes and decided not to answer him. "You need to eat better Barbie."

"And who said I don't?" I folded my arms over my chest.

"I'm just saying," he smirked making my skin boil. "Barbie?"

"Yes?"

"The sun has set yes?" I nodded. "And you'd say the lights in the kitchen aren't that harsh, yes?" I nodded. "Then why are you wearing sunglasses when there's no need for it?"

"So you can't steal my soul," I growled. He laughed almost reminding me of thunder, it was deep and rumbled in the air.

Arrogant bastard.

Five minutes later Pedro called us into the dining room. I gasped when I saw how the room had been transformed. A black table cloth covered the wooden table, a few vanilla scented candles were on the table flooding the room with a sweet scent, and rose petals were laid on the table with expensive cutlery.

Even though the shock of it all had hit me like a bus I was pleased to see the delicious food on the plate. A bottle of beer was obviously dedicated to me whilst red wine was for Benedito.

"You'd think this is a date or something," I laughed.

Pedro smirked as he casually looked at Dito, "I'll leave you two alone." He left followed by the two help behind him.

I sat down and instantly took a sip of the cold beer in front of me. Dito chuckled before sitting down opposite me.

"Did you do this intentionally? Because there's no way all of this could be prepared in fifteen minutes," I waved my fork before digging into the salmon in front of me.

"Maybe I did," he smiled.

"Was the watch intentional as well?"

He did not seemed shocked by my question but rather seemed to be expecting it eventually. "It took you long enough to notice."

"I'm not a watch guy what can I say," I shrugged. "What do they come in a set or something? They almost look the same."

"That's because they are the same Barbie," he shook his head.

"Why on earth would get me something that expensive?" I was baffled.

"There's only two of these watches that exist in this world. One is mine and the other is yours," he answered. Shock hit me so hard that I nearly dropped my fork and knife. I was sure my eyes were bulging out of their sockets, not that he could see of course.

"And you gave one to me!"

"It shows our equality and partnership," he nonchalantly responded.

"Did Clyde get his own custom watch as well to show your partnership?"

"What I feel for you and what I feel for Clyde are on two different scales," his eyes met mine making my skin cold once again.

"W-what do you mean?" all the hunger I had felt previously had completely vanished.

"Isn't it obvious?" he frowned, "I am completely infatuated by you."

My body recoiled from him as even more shock shook my very core. I was definitely not expecting that to be the answer as I gaped. The world had come to a stop in my eyes as I stared at the man in front of me.

"Are you crazy?" my own mouth struggled to close as I placed my hand over my heart to stop its erratic heartbeat. "You're straight!"

"I never said I was. You had simply concluded that in your mind because of who I am," he frowned, not happy with my response to his confession.

"Benedito," I shook my head as I stood up from the table unable to sit calmly in front of him, "this makes no sense."

"It does. I have feelings for you Bobby." At least now he was pronouncing my name right but that was the least of my worries.

"You must be mistaken," I waved my hands as I paced up and down.

"There's nothing for me to be mistaken about Bobby. Why aren't you happy?"

"Because you were a jerk the first few times we met, the next thing I knew you were investing in my father's ranch and suddenly very friendly to me. Now you're telling me you have feelings for me," I stressed as I looked at him, "Did it ever cross your mind that I am straight?"

"That is not a problem. Whether you are straight or not will not lessen my efforts to make you mine," he folded his arms over his chest almost daring me to continue.

"You don't say those kind of things around here Benedito," I practically cried, "Don't you understand?"

"Do you have no feelings for me?"

"Is that all you are concerned about?" I was dumbfounded. It was like everything went in one ear with him and went out the other.

"Yes. What everyone else thinks means nothing to me," he stood up and stalked towards me. I stood my ground not afraid of him. "You have not answered my question? Do you have no feelings for me?"

"No Benedito I do not," I huffed.

"Then you will soon," he smirked making me gasp. The audacity! "I will see you in a few days," he simply said and walked out the dining room.

I heard the front door shut close before I was left alone with my own loud heartbeat.
