CHAPTER 29

STEPH'S POV

Steph comes out of her office, wanting to hand Jerry,Her Personal assistant, a file to look over concerning some land dispute. When she sees a strange Man, sitting in the waiting room, which means He was waiting for her.

"Can you look over this case." She hands the file to Jerry. Steph looks at the waiting room again, turns over to Jerry "Who is the man waiting over there? I thought I mentioned cancelling all my appointments today."

Jerry turns his direction to the waiting room, then to Steph " I told him you didn't have any appointments today, He insisted he would wait."

" Hmm." Steph sighs "What did he say the meeting is all about?" She asks

"Ma, He didn't mention anything, He only say he is an Investigator".Jerry replies.

Steph looks over at the waiting room as their eyes collide, She quickly avert her eyes to Jerry "Send him over to my office right away." She walks back inside.

Steph remembers Ma Grace telling her that some investigator had been going around the Shelter home looking for her and Magedelene.

But she's has been so busy to had even taken it too serious.

She looks over at Jerry's, He was saying something to the Man. It then occured to Steph, She had an ounce of what this is all about.

She braces up as He enters her office, Their eyes interlocking again, then he averts his eyes to the picture of her Daughter.

"Good Day, Ms Steph." She nods and poises her hands to a chair opposite her "I am Investigator Spark." Spark speaks up and sits as he faces her.

"Investigator Spark, What brings you here." Steph says as she looks down at her to go through a file.

"I am here concerning the child, you adopted Eighteen years ago." Spark speaks again.

At the mention of that, Steph looks straight at him "And what about that, Mr Spark?"

"I come in peace." Sparks chips in as he notices the expression on her face "The birth Family of that girl, has been looking all over for her for more than a decade." Sparks speaks, like he didn't want to let out the cat immediately.

Steph looks at him with disdain this time "I totally don't understand what you're trying to say here, That Shelter was legally authorized and recognized by the state."

Spark clears his throat, he didn't want to bite more than he can chew "I totally know that Ma'am, Would it be okay if You and the girl's Father can actually have a conversation."

Steph doesn't say a word, She just stares at him,

Spark notices this and takes it like she wants to hear more, then He continues.

"He regrets sending that girl off to the shelter home, He just wants to be able to see her and Maybe reconnect with her.

Steph already raging inside her, She gives Spark a death stare

"What do you mean he sent her off to the shelter home?." She pauses letting that question sink into him

"That man left his new born child there, he didn't go back once to check that little girl."

Spark is the one doing the listening now,

"And you mention reconnecting with her now?, Mr Spark I want you to know that I just didn't go to that shelter home without doing the necessary thing."

Steph points at her chest and speaks with tears almost building in her eyes. "I adopted that child legally, I went through the right process, I may not be her birth mother, but I have done nothing but given that child all the love I have, Her birth Father can't just show up anytime and think he can reconnect with her."

Sparks was about to speak, Steph cuts him short immediately "I am that girl's only Parent she will only ever know." She says with finality on her voice and she focuses on the file on the table.

Spark knew with that last statement, He should have been out of her office by now, He looks over the daughters picture on the table, as he begins to speak gently

"Ms Steph, I am a Parent myself, and I totally get you and I won't sit here and justify what my client did, But do you really want this child you love,not ever finding out who her birth Father really is?, Where she truly comes from?" He stares at her as he speaks.

He continues "Like I said I understand your point of view too, but is that what real love means to you?"

As he says those words, Steph eyes pierce into his " How dare you come into my office and question me, the way I handle my skills as a Mother?"

"Ms Steph, I mean no harm here, but over the last decades, You have relocated over three times, making it unable for I or the girl's real family to relocate, Once you get a lead that I am onto you, You disappear, You run

Just don't sit here and pretend like you're the saint here." Spark loses his cool this time.

Steph looks at him like he is crazy "What the hell are you talking about?" She's almost screaming, with a shocked expression on her face

Spark Continues "Do you have any idea, how long I have been on this case? How long the Birth Father has invested into this Case?" He rages again.

He breathes in and looks over at the other offices, Everyone's eyes are on him, then he speaks gently.

"All we're asking, is for this girl to get to know her Dad, to get a chance to know why he did what he did." He looks at Steph gently.

"And I say No to that, She is my Child." Steph disagrees.

" Ok, since you want it this way, You will be getting a letter from the court." Spark stands up angrily "And make sure you don't flee the country this time."

Steph looks at him speechlessly as Spark gets his suitcase, looks over at the girl's picture and walks out. Steph takes out her Phone and rings Magedelene.
