Chapter 41

Laxus' pov

I am really worried about what doc might say so I clutch Lucy's hand even tighter. "I am sorry but your mom is in an induced coma. Its to help her heal but it seems that she has an allergic reaction to the stuff that we used to put her under. We finally got her stable enough to get her off of it and she is just getting some rest. I feel Lucy visibly relax and slump down a little bit. "Ok, what can we do?" I nod in agreement. "For now you can just show her that you're here for her. With a lot of the patients that we have that would mean a lot to them and it shows that you are there for her and care. It has shown some remarkable recovery for a lot of the patients that we have had.

We thank her and I tell Lucy that I just want to talk to the doctor really quickly but that she should go ahead. Once the door closes behind her I turn to the doctor and ask the question that I have been dreading and from my expression she seems to know what I want to ask. "How good is her chance?" "Well we have been doing everything that we can but it's not looking good. We have some of the best doctors in the world on her case but it's not promising. I didn't want to say that in front of her daughter and just give her some hope, so please, if you can just keep this between us that would be greatly appreciated". She gives me a small smile and I agree with her that it's probably for the best.

I hate that I'm being dishonest with Lucy but it's for her own good. "Thank you for your time, I won't take any more of it". We exit her office together and head off in opposite directions, she is probably going to tend to another patient and I go in search of Lucy. I find her in the room with her mother as doctors are trying to keep her out. She's like a beast and fought off all ten of them to get to her mom. I wouldn't mess with her if I were them. I however bite the bullet and go inside to help separate her from them.

I manage to pull her off of them but she is still wiggling like crazy in my arms. I dont realize that she manages to get an arm out of my grasp and she swings at me. Geez she has a mean right hook like for real. She doesn't look like she could swing it but I guess Lucy here isn't so innocent after all and can take care of herself. She looks up at me with this oh shit expression on her face. In a normal situation I would have without hesitation drop kicked anyone who did this to me but she's not anyone she's well her.

Ewww I sound really cheesy if my friends could see me now tamed by the angel in my arms. I never thought that a day like this would come. I brush it off and continue carrying her back to the car this time keeping a close eye on her arms. "I'm sorry" she says when I place her down on the passenger side. I pull her into my lap and rock her slowly and run my fingers through her silky smooth hair. She seems to relax enough and in a couple of minutes I try to pull back from her but she clutches me tighter. "Baby we need to get going soon" she pouts at me and looks up at me with her big beautiful brown eyes pleading with me. I am a goner when she does that.

There's no chance for me once she pulls back so I surrender to her and continue what I was doing before. She sighs contently and settles back into my arms and makes herself very comfortable here. I'm not sure how much time has passed but she says that she is ok now for me to let go of her. We arrive back at my house and I look over and see that Lucy drifted off to sleep and looks so peaceful with her blonde hair strewn across her shoulders and her chest rising and falling in slow even breaths. I try not to wake her as I move to her side and unbuckle her seatbelt to get her out.

She is light as a feather so it's not a hard task to do and she needs all the rest that she can get. I carry her up the stairs to my room which is on its own floor. From now on she will be sleeping here with me unless she is uncomfortable with the idea of it then she can have her old room back. I hope that she doesn't want it back if I'm being honest. I like her here with me where she should be. It just feels right and I'm not entirely sure why, I've never felt this way before.

What is happening to Laxus?
