Meeting Someone

Chapter 189 - Meeting Someone

When Hestia was in the heaven, countless male gods naturally desired her.

Despite facing endless confessions, none had ever made her feel as nervous or excited as Mahiro's words just now.

Should she say yes?

But would that seem too hasty?

After all, it was the first time they'd met.

Agreeing to courtship straight away didn't suit the style of a virgin goddess.

Refuse him?

Wouldn't that be too heartless?

As the god of her Familia, she had a responsibility to care for her him.

If she refused, she'd likely hurt his feelings.

If she couldn't refuse, what was she supposed to do?

For a moment, Hestia felt dizzy, stuck in a battle of conflicting emotions.

"Hestia?"

Noticing her dazed expression, Mahiro called out to her with a gentle chuckle.

"I promise you!"

Hestia snapped out of her thoughts and blurted out her words.

"Promise what?"

Mahiro teased her with a playful smile, seeing her maidenly reaction.

"No…nothing!"

Hestia, worried Mahiro had misunderstood, felt even more embarrassed and quickly shifted her gaze.

"Mahiro-kun, you won't leave me, will you?"

Taking a deep breath, Hestia did her best to clear her head of distracting thoughts, asking him earnestly with a flicker of hope.

"I know what you're worried about." Mahiro answered with the same serious look.

"Hestia, are you going to leave me?"

"Of course not!"

She immediately denied it, clasping his hand tightly in both of hers as though afraid he'd disappear.

Her face glowed with stubborn determination.

"I will never leave you. Absolutely not!"

"I won't leave you either."

Mahiro returned her smile.

"So, you see, your worries are unnecessary."

He placed a reassuring hand on Hestia's forehead.

OUCH!

Hestia winced, released his hand, and held her forehead with a playful grimace.

"I only worry because I care too much about you!"

As a goddess, she shouldn't have felt any sense of urgency.

Yet after facing the harsh reality of the lower world, Hestia found her confidence shaken.

Perhaps it wasn't truly inferiority, but she simply didn't feel secure in herself.

Cautious about keeping Mahiro close, she tried hard to sustain her relationship with him.

His words just now helped put her mind at ease.

"Mhm."

Mahiro nodded with a relaxed smile.

"No need to worry anymore, right?"

"Hehe!"

Hestia giggled sweetly.

"Still, if you ever reveal your Status publicly, you'd be in danger."

After all, Familia rivalries don't always end with simple poaching attempts.

If wooing or deals fail, some might resort to extreme methods.

In Orario, some Familias obey rules, while others resorting to any means—no matter how despicable.

"Don't worry," Mahiro said confidently.

"By that time, I'll have gained enough strength to face any threat."

Once he used Balance Breaker, only gods might prove a real challenge.

Adventurers were no match for him.

Besides, if someone did come looking for trouble, it'd be a good chance to make an example.

It could also help boost his reputation. Why not?

Unlike Hestia's concern, Mahiro was already thinking about the best moment to announce his strength.

"I'll keep the other gods curiosity in check for as long as I can." Hestia added.

"All right." Mahiro stood up, straightened his clothes, and said, "Let's go register our Familia at the Guild."

"The Hestia Familia is finally going to have a firm foothold in Orario!"

Hestia exclaimed excitedly.

"We're off now. Thanks for letting us use the second floor today."

After thanking the storekeeper downstairs, Hestia and Mahiro headed to the Guild.

Compared to earlier, the Guild was far less crowded, as most adventurers were already in the Dungeon at this hour.

The two made their way inside, planning to register with Eina.

"Hey, isn't that the little runt?"

A voice suddenly spoke from behind them.

Hestia's face darkened the instant she heard it.

"Loki!"

Mahiro turned to see who it was.

Two people approached, instantly grabbing everyone's attention: Loki and another figure from her Familia.

"That's the Loki Familia," came the excited murmurs.

"Look, the Sword Princess! She's gorgeous!"

"If the Sword Princess married me, I'd give up ten years of my life!"

"I'd give up twenty!"

As the pair entered, the Guild, which was already buzzing, grew even rowdier.

Leading the way was a goddess with vermilion hair, dressed in tomboyish attire.

She projected a boisterous charm that hardly resembled a divine being and was more akin to a roguish uncle.

This was Loki.

But Mahiro's focus drifted to the girl following closely behind.

She had a lithe, graceful figure in a shoulder-baring, backless white dress trimmed in blue.

The slit in her skirt ran daringly high on her thigh, and her waist-length golden hair gleamed as brilliantly as the finest treasure.

She had the slender physique of a porcelain doll and bright golden eyes that shone with clarity.

Her face, however, revealed almost no expression, giving her an icy yet captivating air.

She was Ais Wallenstein.

Whether she was the main or secondary heroine in the anime didn't really matter—she appeared plenty often either way.

"Hey, quit ogling my Ais with those lecherous eyes!"

Looking protective, Loki glared fiercely at the adventurers who were staring too intently at Ais.
