I Can't Play By Myself!

(Please read chapter 30 before reading this! I forgot to upload this chapter and continued from 32 which was a big mistake. Anyways, here's the missing chapter)

Chapter 31 - I Can't Play By Myself!

Walking into the store, Mahiro naturally focused on the shelves filled with dazzling Game CDs.

However, Koneko's focus was different.

Her golden eyes looked around vigilantly as if on high alert.

"Koneko, take it easy."

Mahiro patted Koneko on the shoulder, signaling her not to be so nervous.

"It's all your fault."

Koneko looked deadpan, but her voice showed a hint of resentment:

"What if Hyoudou Issei finds us?"

Hearing this, Mahiro laughed.

"Why are you laughing?"

Koneko clenched her fists and said warningly.

"If he finds us, he finds us. What does it matter?"

Mahiro said indifferently.

There was no worried look on his face.

"You!"

Koneko glared at Mahiro angrily: "Are you here to cause trouble on purpose?"

"Okay, okay, it doesn't matter if we are discovered."

Mahiro still looked unconcerned, as if it had nothing to do with him.

"This is a mission the president gave me. I don't want to disappoint her. It must be done well without any mistakes."

Koneko looked at Mahiro and explained stubbornly.

"Then don't be so nervous. But..."

Mahiro pondered.

"Is this the first time you, Koneko, have performed this surveillance mission?"

Upon hearing this, Koneko's lips twitched. After two seconds of silence, she reluctantly replied.

"Well, this is my first time."

"No wonder."

Mahiro shrugged.

"No wonder what?"

Koneko asked suspiciously.

"Following behind others like a stalker, sneaky, not professional at all, and nervous like a quail."

Mahiro joked and glanced at Koneko.

"Fortunately, I joined the Occult Research Club in time."

"If I was one step later, I might be followed by you."

"YOU'RE DEAD!!"

Koneko's expression changed again.

She stared at Mahiro angrily, wishing to punch him in the head.

It's just that considering this was in the store, and they were still on a surveillance mission, she couldn't make a big scene, so she could only grumble.

"So, Are you a professional?"

After calming her down, Koneko noted the critical points from Mahiro's words and asked curiously.

"No."

Mahiro spread his hands, "I'm a good student. I have nothing to do to spy on what others are doing, idiot?"

"..."

Koneko lowered her head, but her clenched fist represented her mood.

Damn! Mahiro!!

She especially wanted to smash Mahiro's face with her fist.

"However, you can learn a little from TV and books."

Mahiro said indifferently.

"What are you trying to say? Am I stupid?"

Koneko stared at Mahiro with her golden eyes, wanting Mahiro to explain.

"No. It's just that you care too much about the mission Rias gave you!"

"I just want you to relax!"

Mahiro said helplessly.

As he said that, he pointed to Hyoudou Issei, who was still wandering around the store.

"It's just monitoring an ordinary person."

"There's no need to be nervous."

"Just go shopping as you normally would. Even if Hyoudou Issei sees you, he probably won't suspect that you are stalking him."

"On the contrary, seeing you, that guy might become happy."

"Why?"

Koneko asked skeptically.

"You're a popular high schooler, Koneko."

"Unless Hyoudou Issei is gay, how could he not be happy to see you?"

Mahiro said with a smile.

Hearing this, Koneko was silent for a while, then nodded and said.

"I see."

Then she waved her fist again and threatened:

"Don't call me a stalker again!!"

Mahiro smiled, "While Hyoudou Issei hasn't left, let's go buy something. After all, it's just a normal date."

"Not a date, but an important mission, idiot," Koneko murmured.

"I'll do as you say."

"But I still need to keep an eye on Hyoudou Issei."

Koneko did not deny it.

She felt Mahiro's words were reasonable, and he was there to help her.

Mahiro went to get a shopping basket, glanced over the various containers, and then came to the newly launched games section.

"It seems that a lot of new games have been released recently."

Koneko's eyes flicked as she glanced at different game CDs.

Those new games had a lot of appeal to her.

However, she held back the urge to keep an eye on Hyoudou Issei.

Upon seeing this, Mahiro smiled and mentally noted the games her eyes lingered on.

Quite a lot.

There were a dozen.

However, Mahiro did not hesitate to put these dozen games into the basket.

"Why do you buy so many games?"

Koneko opened her mouth in surprise when she saw the basket full of games.

"I like playing games, but after I came to Kuoh Academy, I was busy doing other things, so I haven't had time to play."

Mahiro smiled:

"Since I'm quite free now. I decided to buy some games."

Koneko's looked over with envy.

Although she said she often buys game CDs, she had never bought as many as Mahiro did at one time.

After all, even if she is a devil, she is still a student, and the rewards she usually earns through contracts are often not monetary.

Therefore, Koneko's pocket money is less than Mahiro's, and she cannot make such purchases as him.

Such a basket of games is estimated to cost hundreds of thousands of yen.

"By the way, Koneko, give me your summoning card."

"What do you want this for?"

Koneko asked suspiciously.

"With so many games, I might be unable to play them all alone."

Mahiro explained.

"Besides, playing games alone at home is boring. Finding someone to play with will make it twice as fun."

"I don't have any particularly familiar friends, so I can only use the contracts to find a playmate."

"Koneko, you are a Devil, so this kind of task should be acceptable, right?"

Mahiro looked at Koneko with a smile, waiting for her answer.

Koneko looked at the games in the basket, feeling very tempted.

After a while, she pulled a card with a magic circle drawn on it from her pocket.

"Here, don't lose it."

"Don't worry, I will keep it safe."

Mahiro took the summoning card and carefully put it in his wallet.

Seeing this, Koneko smiled lightly.
