"Rias, is this the secret about Mahiro you mentioned?" Sona asked, staring at the screen.
"It's just one of them," Rias replied after a moment. This was the first time she'd seen this weapon in Mahiro's hands.
"This must be the new weapon he's found" she thought.
Not long ago, Mahiro had returned the Sword of Eternal Flames to Rias, saying he had found something new. She didn't ask much back then.
Now it seemed this weapon was the replacement.
Out of nowhere, he shows up with this surprise for everyone.
"One of them?" Sona raised an eyebrow. "Ice power is definitely a pain for Riser's peerage, who are all about wind and fire."
"And just a single snowflake was enough to knock a pawn out. This kind of power..."
Sona suddenly smiled and glanced at Rias. "Rias, I'm starting to think Mahiro has a real shot at winning."
On the field, snowflakes continued to fall, more and more of them filling the air.
A snowy night, just as the name suggests. A single snowflake could take down a pawn at Middle-Class level. And on the screen, it wasn't just one; thousands of them filled the sky.
Who the hell could stop that?
And this was just one of Mahiro's attacks.
Meaning he had more in store. Probably even stronger ones. If Rias was surprised, then Riser's peerage was downright shocked.
Snowflakes were everywhere, and each one could freeze a Middle-Class with ease.
"Dodge the snowflakes! Don't let them touch you! Use flames; it might hold them off for a bit."
Ravel's body ignited in flames, and a pair of fiery wings spread from her back. The cold from the icy snow made even a Phenex like her feel uncomfortable, so she used demonic fire to fend off the chill.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, a sword slashed past, grazing her hair, and she screamed in shock.
"If you're not going to fight, then shut the fuck up, or I won't mind taking you down first to see if the Phenex Clan's immortality is as awesome as they say."
"I didn't make a move," Ravel retorted, fear in her eyes.
"If you keep giving them advice, you know what I'll do."
Mahiro raised his hand, ready to strike again.
"Okay! I won't talk anymore."
Ravel shrank back, looking hurt.
She'd been trying to figure out the situation, but Mahiro's cold attitude left her feeling upset.
The proud girl was shaken. She didn't know Mahiro's personality at all. He was always straightforward.
In normal times, Mahiro could be friendly, even gentle. But in a fight, he wouldn't hold back just because his opponent was a pretty girl.
Mahiro turned his attention back to Riser's peerage.
"Don't touch those snowflakes."
Karlamine dodged the falling snowflakes with agility, but the increasing number was wearing her down.
"Damn bastard!"
Karlamine took Ravel's advice, drawing her sword and infusing it with demonic power. The blade burst into flames.
The rest of the peerage did the same, covering their weapons or fists in flames and swinging them around like crazy, trying to fend off the snow.
But in this situation, attacking was impossible; even defending was tough.
"Don't waste your energy. This level of power won't stop my attack."
Mahiro stood there, unmoved, watching them struggle.
The Phenex Clan, who control fire, could temporarily resist the snowstorm.
But these servants only had a fraction of that power, nowhere near the true Phenex.
Though the snowflakes weren't falling fast, they were getting thicker and thicker.
The snowfall covered all the enemies, trapping them.
"Riser-sama's pawn has been eliminated."
"Riser-sama's bishop has been eliminated!"

As the snowflakes fell, one by one, members of Riser's peerage turned into ice sculptures and were forced out, announced by Grayfia's steady voice.
In less than ten seconds, aside from Ravel, every other peerage member had been turned into an ice sculpture and left the stage.

Mahiro suddenly sensed something—a surge of demonic power nearby.
In an instant, a purple magic circle scanned his entire body like a filter.

A massive explosion of fire fell from the sky.
The next moment, like a missile, it blasted a ten-meter radius around Mahiro, scorching the ground.
"I just came out here on a whim to see what was happening. Didn't expect you to actually make a comeback."
In the sky, the barely-dressed Yubelluna held her wand, a smug, mocking smile on her face. "But this is where it ends."
"Yubelluna, you're more reliable," Ravel said, looking up at her.
"However, Mahiro..." Ravel glanced at Mahiro with concern.
"When hunting, the prey is most vulnerable when it thinks it's achieved something."
Yubelluna looked at the scorched ground, grinning. "Human, you got careless."
"Are you talking about yourself?"
Mahiro's voice suddenly came from behind her!
The sound, so close, startled Yubelluna. She felt a sharp pain behind her, and a freezing cold spread through her entire body in an instant.
"What the hell? He took my explosive magic head-on..."
Yubelluna turned her head with difficulty, catching a glimpse of the human who should've been blown to pieces by her magic.
"Those eyes..."
Yubelluna saw Mahiro's eyes, red runes forming a cross in them.
Magic Eyes!
"Looks like this is the end—for you."
Mahiro slashed his blade again, shattering the ice-covered Yubelluna.
"Riser-sama's queen has been eliminated."
