sports week [the final]

Warrick was the average player on the court, passing, dribbling and passing the ball to his teammates while also staying on defence.

The match went on smoothly and it ended with a score of 36 to 48.

And with that, everybody headed home. As the students started pouring out of the main gate, there was trouble ahead.

Delinquents from another nearby high school known as Kotok high school were ever so present along the two paths leading out from the school.

Kellinger high students were always attacked by these students almost always after these kinds of functions. So most of the school apart from the fresh bloods(first years) knew about this and usually would carry less on these days in terms of not wanting to attract attention to themselves when going home.

The teachers themselves would leave at least an hour before the official closure of the school to avoid having their windshields on some of their cars smashed or even being beaten up for those that used to also walk till they got public transport.

Kellinger high school also had its fair share of delinquents and delinquent wannabes. Most of these were the reason the other school's delinquents attacked because fights would only be stopped by the police and so the grudge would linger.

All this was being told to Shin by Warrick who had heard it from his upperclassmen after the basketball match as they sat at the poverty line waiting for the herd of students to depart.

The main reason for this was that you either had leave as early as the teachers which sometimes was almost impossible or leave as late as possible when everyone had left including the delinquents.

The other way that Shin found out was having a friend like Warrick who had ties and connections with both sides of the delinquents so it would be smooth sailing through them.

Most of these delinquents from Kellinger knew and had friends from Kotok high school as it was where most expelled students from Kellinger high would go and get placement with a high number of them being delinquents that engaged in fights, theft, and destruction of school property, and other vices like gambling with coin tossing at walls.

Coin tossing was so predominant that every student had at least participated in this at some point with either money or just for fun. Well, maybe not the girls but surely all the boys. The main idea of the game was a coin was tossed in the air and allowed to hit a vertical wall and then fall on the ground and it consisted of two players who would have to toss their coins all at different times one after another and if the first person had tossed and it landed with either face then the next person had to pray they toss and land that same face to win but if not then while the second coin was still down, the first would toss again and then if he landed the same as the coin on the ground, then that would be a win for him.

So the day went just like that and Shin returned home. Very exhausted, he took a bath and headed to the dining room where dinner was already prepared and set. Ren had not yet arrived home as he usually returned home after 10 pm from working late.

They would all eat dinner at different times so everyone would just eat in their time. Ruth, Shin's mother was watching the news at this time as Shin greeted her and after she asked how his day had gone to which he answered "exhausting and it seems I have to go even tomorrow". To which she replied, " I see".

Ruth knew her son and how his unyielding hate for social interaction had grown with him through the years. She had tried on many occasions to expose him to a wide number of people but it was all the same. She felt that this would hinder his growth in society and his interaction with people would be difficult. Shin since childhood had had specific friends.

Shin had figured this out a long time ago and had decided to try to change himself in high school.

The next day at school everything had been set for Olympic games of sorts in the outdoor field that was mainly used for football matches. It was located behind the form 2 block and the toilets with a chains link fence separating them but today white lines had been drawn for relay races, tents set up for the spectators, and some guests.

Everyone was clad in their house colors and sat in different tents according to their colors waiting for the event to start. The tents were white in colour with no side walls on all four sides apart from the metal frames pipes that held them in place. They had a seating capacity of about 40 to 50 people. These could only provide shade in the hours of noon and so a back drop was always supplied with them to block the sun from the back.

Shin looked around while seated on one of the plastic chairs in the tent and his eyes landed on the dazzlingly beautiful Shelja Dalni in her green sports shirt and normal navy blue uniform skirt standing with a bunch of girls at the tent next to Shin's. She looked particularly pretty today which mesmerised Shin to no end. She had put on a very thin layer of makeup today which brought out more of her hidden features. But soon Shin managed to calm himself and looked away just at the moment when Shelja looked towards his tent.

I know people say you can feel when someone is looking at you from a distance so it was inevitable. But Shin was in the middle of other students in the tent so she could not tell.
