" Do you really think you'd win the trophy?  You gutter girl", Alice screamed

" You and I know you don't deserve that trophy. You are just a thief with inferiority complex ", I replied

This infuriated Alice. She gave me a hot slap. I fell down on the school corridor and grazed my arm. Alice and her clique started laughing and calling me different names. They even threw trash on me. I stood up crying and I spotted someone down the corridor.

" Mom, mom", I screamed running after her

" Is that your mom?  Gutter girl, gutter mom", Alice screamed after me and I immediately stopped in my tracks.

" What did you just say? "

" I said gutter mom"

I didn't waste any time in landing a punch in her face.

My name is Stephanie and I am the girl on scholarship in Diamond International School. The school where politicians and top business men and women sent their children to. Being a beneficiary of the scholarship scheme, I was looked down on. I was bullied, mocked, clothshamed, if that is a word, and ostracised. Today, I thought it was my chance to prove to them that I was not a weakling by winning the trophy of the year but as usual, money speaks volumes. Alice, the daughter of the Governor, won it. And we all know how.

I am Alice's enemy. She didn't like me for once and developed a thick hatred for me when Daniel, her crush, started getting close to me. Daniel was the only person nice to me in my grade and the school at large.

The feeling after punching Alice was the best I have felt in months. I knew there were going to be consequences but I don't mind.

I just continued laughing as I was led to the principal's office and Alice was rushed to the school's clinic. Yes,  she fainted

"Stephanie! We breed obedient and well mannered students and not violent students. How could you punch Alice?", The principal, Mt Amos, asked

" Sir, she's insulted My Mom and me"

"So?"

"She's called My Mom, a gutter mom!", I screamed.

" Young lady, reduce your voice!", The principal screamed back at me

I didn't know when tears started running down my cheeks. I can't stand anyone insulting My mum. She's works real hard to provide for My needs. My dad died when I was 12. My dad was a very rich man who ran a very big company. My mom and I got the shock of our lives when he died. He died bankrupt with debt running into millions. He willed the mansion we lived in to his mistress. Yes, he cheated on my mom with her best friend and he bore a son. The son of his dreams. My parents tried to conceive after me but all their efforts was futile. They tried 4IVFs, one was successful but it was a stillborn. My mom has been struggling since then. She took up the payment of my dad's debt. She worked many jobs apart from her monthly paid work. Getting a scholarship in this school relieved her the burden of paying school fees. And a spoilt brat has the guts to call her a gutter mom after all she has gone through.

"She deserves another punch", I said in my mind

"Stephanie! You will be suspended for a week for being violent", The principal's voice brought me back to reality

" What?! Alice is a bully. She deserves suspension too!", I screamed

" Young lady! Reduce your voice!", The principal screamed back,

I mellowed down

" Anyways,you don't have any proof"

" There's a proof,sir", a voice called out.
