02 – Meeting Rizevim Livan Lucifer

"Nero, open the door." The person says.

Just as Nero was leaning against the door and thinking wildly about his caotic situation, a voice that was very familiar to him sound from behind him at the other side of the door.

That was a voice the boy would never forget and also a voice that he wishes to never hear again, that was his grandfather's voice.

He didn't want to meet his grandfather, but looks like he have no other choice. He took a huge breath and pursed his lips.

Then he stood up, sorted his memory to avoid any mistake, and finally he opened the door.

With the door openned he immediately saw a man wearing the silver ceremonial outfit reserved for the maou Lucifer.

The man in front of Nero has a long, dark silver hair cascades over his shoulders and partly covers his face and he have a short, well-trimmed beard matches his hair.

The young-looking man is the son of the first devil and the mother of the first generation of devils. He has a similar appearance to Vali, except for his age marks and a short beard on his face. He is an egocentric maniac who proclaims himself as the strongest transcendental being.

He believed that Devils are beings that have to be evil, wicked, brutal, bad, scum, wrong, brutes, as well as vicious, and it is the role of a devil to kill every single person they don't like. He was also very prideful with his achievements, always acting like this made him superior to everyone and for being a "True Devil" in his eyes.

His name is Rizevim Livan Lucifer, the Prince of the Devils, and he is no one else but the jerk who possesses one of the most broken abilities in this world's power system. His ability, which originated from his demonic power, is called Sacred Gear Canceller. It can nullify the infamous sacred gears, weapons that can elevate the potential of select humans to the level of killing gods.

The second generation of Lucifer is a natural genius who was able to overcome the four original satans and be the first to reach a level never seen before, he was the first super devil.

The sad thing is that with each subsequent generation, talent has declined. First, there was Razevan, who spent centuries stagnant as a high devil. Then, there was Nero, who was born with mid-class reserves of demonic power. The exception was Vali, a half-blood devil who was born with one of the thirteen legendary longinus-class sacred gears, capable of killing gods.

After Rizevim walked into the room, his hazel eyes fell on Nero, his weakling grandson, a failure just like his own pathetic son Razevan.

He and Nero were relatives connected by blood, but his eyes were indifferent from the beginning, with a hint of disgust and disappointment hidden in that cold gaze. If Vali was the kind of person who was worth some persecution to entertain himself, then Nero was not even worth a glance.

Rizevim looked at the boy and thought about how useless he actually was.

'Nero obviously inherited the blood of the clan Lucifer, but his demonic power reserves were low, the opposite of the members of clan Lucifer, and his physique was too weak just like his birth mother. Because he was a pure-blooded devil, he was not born with a sacred gear like Vali. The only thing he had was a random power with some useless shadows and a small control over the soul because of the Satanachia bloodline. Damn it, he was completely boring. How the hell did this brat share the same blood as mine?'

Rizevim usually ignored Nero as if he were invisible. Now that Vali had run away from home, and he had killed his own son Razevan in a fit of rage, his incompetent grandson was the only thing left, but not enough to cure his boredom.

According to Rizevim himself, he was a self-indulgent person and had a lame life, comparing himself with an object that was capable of thinking.

This only changed after Euclid Lucifuge brought him information about Ophis' powers, the Holy Grail, proof of another world and 666. Being filled with ambition and dreams for the first time in his life, Rizevim decided to bring chaos to the world he is staying in by reviving the Evil Dragons and heading on to the other world to bring chaos there as well. He described himself as "an old man with the mentality of a kid with an eighth grade syndrome".

Now that Razevan is dead and Vali is gone, it's time to deal with the talentless grandson.

Rizevim knows he will be extremely busy with his plans for the future years, so he needs to select someone as the representative of the Lucifer clan in order to reassure the idiots of the Old Devil King Faction and to distract the other factions.

The old devil is sure he won't need to care about the the current Lucifer family or the remaining of the clans belonging to the Old Devil Faction that didn't follow him.

Devils are a species that values the purity of their blood, encouraging marriage between noble families to guarantee the quality of the blood and, in turn, the talent of the descendants in handling the traits of the different lineages.

After the devil civil war, the number of pure-blood devil was reduced to a point that even the old Zekram Bael was not able to move his Great Devil King Faction to exterminate the remnants of his inner enemies.

Rizevim was sure that if that old guy was not able to make a move against him, would? Sirzechs? That crimson fake maou was to busy protecting the devils from outside factions, like angels or fallen angels, and at the same time was trying to not be controlled by the devil's senate, which is old Zekram's territory.

But a recent change broke the status quo. The leaders of each biblical faction decided to begin discussions to sign a peace treaty between the supernatural factions.

'If Michael, Azazel and Sirzechs are able to sign that peace treaty how would I get free entertainment without new wars. Since they don't give me something to relieve my boredom I shall create a situation myself.' Rizevim declares to himself thinking on the world's current situation.

Recently neither angels or fallen ones are making any big moves. The passivity of the two factions is allowing the New Devil King Faction to surveil the actions of affiliates of the Old Devil King Faction and the Great King Faction.

Considering the whole situation, he observed his grandson. The boy was a complete waste of the Lucifer bloodline, so he should have no problem being used as a distraction for his family. Since he was so weak, he might even be able to act as a spy without raising any suspicion from the fake maou's faction.

'Vali was too talented and proud to do this kind of job. My son Razevan was too timid and cowardly to be an open figure. But this brat Nero is standing in front of me and looking directly into my eyes.'

Rizevim decides to just stare back without opening his mouth so say any words, but didn't look away in any momment 'At least he is not a coward and have enough bravery, but lacks power to support his little act, not like I care or that it is my problem.'

Actually Nero doesn't dare to look directly in Rizevim' eyes, but he remembers that this lunatic hates and despises boring people so he forced himself to look brave and a little bit interesting to have a small chance to keep his life intact.

"How long has it been since we've seen each other, grandfather? Nero acts indifferently.

Rizevim frowns at the way he was called by someone insignificant. But quickly his expression changed, that man's hazel eyes sparkle with mischief and arrogance as he reply his grandson's question.

"Oh my~, if my old memories doesn't fail it was at the day I killed your father and beat you to almost death."

"So father is really dead." Nero comments without any change in his expression, which intrigues his grandfather due to the lack of familiarity between the brat and Razevan.

"Hmmn~ are you sad about losing your father?" Rizevim gives a vicious smile.

"No. But it is a pitty." Nero finally shows a sad look.

"Why would it be a pitty? My son was stupid, his death it was insignificant to anyone." Rizevim looked closely at the young man, looking for any sign in the boy's expressions.

"It's a shame, since now there are only three devils who carry Lucifer's blood and one of them isn't even pure."

The answer shocked the super devil. He never expected that his talentless grandson would not carry resentment towards Razevan and would think of the Lucifer clan's bloodline above his own emotions.

Rizevim starts laughing, showing excitement at the break in his expectations.

"Well, quality is superior to quantity. Even having four, losing my useless son doesn't make any difference." Rizevim thinks about something and smiles mischievously. "What if the numbers dropped to two?"

"I may be weak for now, but there is always the chance of evolution. As long as there is life there is hope." Nero wisely answers.

"Dreams don't always come true. What would you do if you can't fulfill your goals?" The elder wait for the boy's act to break.

"I will give my life. If I can be useful to Lucifer's causr I shall do my best to assist you grandfather." Nero smiles.

"Interesting. Nero, I need to leave the underworld to do some important business. You will be the new head of the Lucifer clan in my absence. Do you understand?" Rizevim said with a serious expression negating any sign of refusal to his commands.

"Yes Grandfather, I will do my best to keep our family in the better situation as possible without your presence." Internally the young man thought 'But I know you are not going to do any real job, you are just going to make a ruckus around the world planning the apocalypse by a beast or a war domination in a world ruled by machines.'

"Good, at least someone in this family knows about our family obligations. Even if you are weak, you have a sense of responsibility." Rizevim fake-praises the boy.

"Following your orders will make our family great again, so I shall obey you, grandfather." Nero speaks like a believer without demonstrating any doubt about the intentions of the lunatic in front of him.

A sarcastic and mocking smile curves on Rizevim's lips, revealing his self-centered and manic personality.

"Nero, I will put a seal on you to keep you on line. You wouldn't mind, right?"

"Grandfather, as I said I will follow your orders, regardless of guarantees. But if you find it necessary, I don't see a problem." Nero answers while forcing a smile. "I wonder, what is the effect of the seal?"

"Oh~ the seal will insert some of my demonic energy into your heart. If you disobey me, the seal will give you a similar fate to your father, understood?"

"So it's a remote bomb?" Nero accidentally says what he was thinking and receives a smile from his grandfather.

"Exactly. So, are you still willing to obey me?" Rizevim's smug smile makes Nero want to punch his grandfather, but he restrains himself because he is not strong enough and is not in a favorable situation.

"Yes I am. I will do my best to follow your orders." Nero just answer automatically in the best way to keep his lunatic ancestor calm.

The Prince of Devils begins the seal insertion procedure. He initially takes a scroll with a complex seal and opens it against his grandson's chest, then transfers his own demonic power into the seal which in turn causes that power to flow into Nero's body.

The insertion process is short, taking around five minutes, but the pain is tremendous. The procedure occurs when a source of strange energy is brutally inserted into the body and forces it to channel this energy to a specific location, even though the body is not prepared for such a powerful flow.

Even with the excruciating pain the young man is subjected to, Nero just grinds his teeth without screaming.

"There There~ Rizevim stroked his grandson's head as if he were stroking a street dog while smiling.

"What should I do grandpa?" Nero speaks in a tired voice, completely ignoring the humiliating situation he was subjected to.

"You? Nothing. But remembers this, I will leave a servant behind and he will inform you when the person I assign to take care of you arrives at the mansion."

Rizevim walks towards the bedroom door and looks at the boy one last time.

"Apparently it's more interesting than I expected." He mutters in a extremely low tone making impossible to Nero understand.

After finishing speaking, Rizevim leaves the room without waiting for his grandson's response.
