"Some of you, as you can see, wont be able to use New Magic, the people who can't have extremely high mana that fights the mana provided from the earth, so I suggest you pray to whichever god you worship, to bless your sorry asses to avoid being blessed with mana or else your chances of survival are quite low."

Oh great, now there is a chance I cant use the most broken concept in this world? Why couldn't whatever brought me here keep the world the same at the very least.

The chains keeping us bound to the floor vanish and the man who bought us takes his leave, the second the coast is clear and the room seemingly empty, some people run towards the door attempting to escape.

But just as fast as they got there, they died, their heads exploding into a shower of brain matter and blood, some of it landing on me, and I barely repress the urge to vomit all over the floor.

But the death of those people persuade most of us to listen and grab a weapon and try to take a Terrasphere, but some actually seem happy and willingly try and escape, resulting in their death.

They took the easy way out, and I cant blame them, who knows the ways we could die at the hands of those Rot monsters we apparently have to fight.

I walk towards the glass wall containing the Terraspheres and as I do it opens up, I look around and I pick one shaped like a prism, and the second my hand comes in contact with it I am hit with a overload of every sense in my body.

My vision is filled with enough colors to turn the entirety of American gay, my ears ring with annoying buzzing, my sense of touch is dominated by a itching sensation.

And the longer I hold it the more I feel energy seeping into my body, while my own energy fights back, eventually the itching turns to pain as I let go of the Terrasphere and everything returns to normal, except my veins glowing, and visible through my skin.

I pant as it floats itself back to the wall, and I drop to my knees as I slowly recover from whatever the fuck that was.

Eventually I rise to my feet along with some other people who also just went through that bullshit, I then decide to just take a spear from the rack of weapons, its the next best thing, range is gonna be crucial if I cant use magic.

It's such bullshit having too much of your own mana fucks over your ability to use the cheat that is a Terrasphere, but I guess I would be good at Old Magic if I can learn it.

I saw those guards use magic without Terraspheres in the auction place, and I assume that was Old Magic, which I will learn on my own time, I can probably figure it out.

Once everyone is holding either a weapon or Terrasphere, some even holding both, those are the smart ones, they never said we couldn't take both if we can use both.

We stand around in silence, and I contemplate killing the other people here.

If we are going to fight each other eventually, why not get rid of the competition now?

"..."

"The fuck am I thinking..." I sigh to myself, I have been here for less than a day and I am already having psychopathic thoughts, I sigh again knowing full well I will be killing people in the near future.

But for now, we wait around for a bit before the guards return, one assigned to each of us, mine takes my spear and chains me with that ethereal chain again and the rest follow.

We then watch as a walls bricks rotate and shift out of the way to create a doorway and we are dragged through it, we are quickly separated through a series of tunnels, and I am quickly left alone with my guard.

In a room we arrive in, he hands me my weapon and for the first time I hear him speak. "Number 1... when your number is called the gate to this room will open and it will be your time to fight. If you refuse to leave the room, you will be killed."

He then turns around and leaves, the walls closing behind him, leaving me here. I take a seat on the grainy sand of this room, from that I can tell the area will probably be alot like the Colosseum in Rome with sand grounding.

The room is made of stone bricks, with the only lighting being another lamp being powered by magic. I wait around for seemingly ages and eventually I hear a voice tell me to get ready.

"Number 1. Get ready." I stand to my feat and steal my nerves. I throw my shoes off and feel the sand on my feet. They would of hindered me anyway, they are made of some pretty smooth leather that doesn't work well on sand.

The door in front of me opens and into a hallway that leads to a barred metal gate like those you would find in movies with arena scenes.

I walk towards it, spear in hand, heart pounding against my ribcage, and sweating at the thought of death. As I approach the gate opens up which lights up the hallway with... sunlight? There's no way this is outside.

I walk out as the sun blinds me, which turns out not to be sunlight, instead it looks like a giant floating orb generating all the light.

An artificial sun(?).

How strong are these people?

I walk out into the arena and look at the swarm of masked people on the sidelines watching me with smiles. People of every type, fat, skinny, old young-shockingly young too, Black, White, Asian, Mixed, Elves, Dwarves(?), Orcs I think, fucking goblins, everything is here.

Because High Guardian Spice had all the races in its lore, plus some additions that I can see, there are elves in the crowd, goblins, and so on. Kinda weird seeing fantasy races in the flesh.

I am brought out of my thoughts by a booming voice coming from up above, I look up and my eyes widen as I watch a masked woman literally fly from the ceiling on a floating glass like platform, probably made of magic.

She wears similar attire to the guards I have seen all over, but more of her face and skin showing.

Frisky.

"Welcome all! To the first battle of this seasons Rot Betting's. Feel free to bet on whoever of the two you think will win. No refunds!" she shouts, her very long blond hair swaying about as she flies around on the platform.

"Now. Our first contender. A boy plundered from the cold canyons of Frowwat- still unnicknamed. No.1!"

Slow claps resound across the building, which I guess is to be suspected, they wouldn't give a standing ovation to some random 13 year old who hasn't shown he can do anything.

"And now... his opponent! As he is still but a child with no fighting experience and we dont want to kill potential power houses early, he will be fighting a simple Rotting Dog!"

Thats good, it should be around the size of a dog, super easy.

The gate opposite of me opens up and red eyes open that glow in the darkness, out walks a beast the size of a fucking elephant.

The beast is pure red in color and strangely humanoid. Its body is hunched over, with veins running all over its body, it has three tails, each the thickness of my entire body and length of telephone poles.

One of its tails has a human head attached to it that moves just as a non-detached human head would. Probably used to lure people to it, it has eyes all over its body, not physical in a sense but more energy like eyes that move across its body at will.

It has 3 actual eyes on its face and its mouth goes from its face all the way down to mid-riff.

That shit can and will kill me in seconds.

The thing is so fucking strong its getting dragged to the middle of the area with hundreds upon hundreds of thick magic chains, each one snapping every once in a while.

"That is not a fucking dog you bitch!" I shout at the announcer standing on the platform who just winks at me.

Oh I'm so gonna kill her the first chance I get.

.

Bow down my subjects! Praise me! Submit yourselves to me! Give me your offerings of stones, and you shall be free of my wrath!
