I could feel the blood draining from my face as I saw him. I know I was looking like I saw a ghost or something right now, but I know I would never be this afraid of a ghost, I have one living in my room.
Then I reminded myself of the key. That he didn't know it was me. He doesn't know. He doesn't know. He doesn't know me, and Nyx is one and the same. our eyes met, his black human eyes seem so different from his red demon eyes, but the way he looks, the way his eyes narrow slightly when they land on me, the way his eyes seem to be pulling me in them.
Blood rushed to my cheeks when I remembered what she had done. My grip on the phone tightened automatically. Even though we have different phones, I could not help but feel guilty, as if the photo is on my phone. The photo of him, as he stood there, looking incredibly hot. She is crazy. If he gets his hands on us, he will not spare us.
After I told her not to go near him, she had obeyed, but I could feel the excitement as she found out he is none other than prince Asher, the same prince Asher that everyone seems to be talking about, the dangerous prince. She sees him as a challenge, why would she not when she has not seen anyone as powerful as herself?
Nyx is a powerful demoness, not only does she have royal blood from our mother's side but as a hybrid, she is also a descendant of the most powerful witch bloodline. There are only a few people who could take on Nyx, and I think Asher might be one of them. they would be perfect together, that is when she stops provoking him.
Then there is also me. I don't think it will ever work out. A sigh escaped me at that thought, I wish my life was a bit more simple. I have a distinct feeling that it is not going to get any better anytime soon. My only goal is to survive this without actively trying to make it worse.
She had tried to look up any of his pictures online, but there were none, not even one. After searching for hours, she decided to get one herself. I admire her for it. He looked good, better than good, she had been staring at it when Leo found her.
She likes him, what is there not to like, he is hot, as he walks in deeper to examine the weapons, I sidled closer to Felix. He is my best option right now. Asher looks like a god. There was a powerful aura exuding from him. In plain black shirt, the shirt must have been tailored for him, as it fits snugly to him showing his biceps, it stretched across his muscled chest everyone turned to stare at him, I can see the fear in everyone's eyes but they couldn't help but stare at him.
Liza was giving me an 'I told you so' look when she saw me practically hiding behind Felix. Giving her a sheepish look, I grabbed daggers and some potions.
"Felix, make sure to be careful, you are going to the chancellor Adira nightshade's manor," Liza said Adira Nightshade is one of the chancellors, why are we going to her manor? I then remembered there must be papers that explain the mission, they must be here somewhere.
I looked around the room when a hand flashed in front of me "here," a girl said, startling me, there were papers in her hand "you were looking for them right?" she asked, with a smile, to which I nodded, returning her smile, I have seen her around the office skipping, I have rarely seen her walk normally, always skipping somewhere, with a smile on her face.
I remembered a beat later that I hadn't thanked her, but she was already gone.
"Mor," Liza called making everyone turn to me, "It will be dangerous, so make sure to be careful. Do not engage in any fights, let others handle it, you are still new to this, make sure to observe everything." I nodded rapidly, embarrassed that everyone was still looking at me.
We were waiting for some kind of signal before going to the mission, we are going to a chancellor's manor after all, she must be pulling some strings to make sure the media doesn't know about this. We are told to be discreet about this.
There were only 5 of us in the room, most of them had gone outside, as the tension in the room grew as Asher sat there in the middle glaring at everyone in general, he seemed to be in a bad mood. I was sitting beside Selina, the girl who gave me the papers about the mission. Selina and liza were discussing something in low voices.
I conjured my charm bracelet, it has small black beads, that help channel my magic, Liza said the mission would be dangerous, it is better to be prepared, if I use my magic without this bracelet, it will be dangerous for not just me but to the others around me, Nyx can use my magic without losing its control, it might be because she is not afraid of it as I am, I could feel my hands tremble, I tighten my grip on the papers, this is not the time to get nervous.
Nothing will happen. I assured myself. I can do this. But the memory of the fire flashed behind my eyes, the smoke, the panic. I will not lose control of my magic, I said to myself firmly, but the screams echoed in my ears, there was a crackle of fire as the papers in my hands caught fire, Selina grabbed them out of my hands and threw them away, the fire had caught the edge of her shirt sleeve, she yelped making me snap out of my panicked state.
Felix was holding Selina's hand trying to put out the fire, he wouldn't be putting out the fire. my hands started trembling, I did it again, I hurt her. I was hurting others again. I started towards her; I have to put out the fire. My breaths were coming out in gasps, and as I was about to take a step forward, Asher was there, as soon as he touched her hand the fire went out. I can't let her get hurt.
There were hands on my shoulders, and a pair of brown eyes stared into mine, "calm down." There was a green light coming out of her hands. It was Liza. I could feel the panic leaving my body as she worked her healing magic on me. I took a deep breath and fastened the beads on my hand with trembling fingers, and I was able to breathe again.
There were four pairs of eyes staring at me, "I am sorry." I said to Selina in a small voice. She walked towards me and hugged me. "it's okay. You must have been nervous." I wanted to sob, she was the one who got hurt and she was comforting me. "Look at me" she forced me to stare into her eyes, as she showed me her hand, it was unmarred, "I am perfectly alright."
