Building a family

It had been a week of searching for her aimlessly. He was going crazy trying to figure out where to start looking for her. Lindsey was no help.

He wanted to look for her, but the only thing he knew about her was her name, Sky. He did not even know her full name. Lindsey would not even supply that information.

"Where is she?" He asked her for the nth time, trying to convince Lindsey to tell him where he could find Sky.

"I told you, she doesn't want to be found." Lindsey reiterated, avoiding his gaze. She could not take the anguish visible in his eyes. She already gave her word to Sky, there was nothing else she could do. She was leaving it to fate if they were meant to be.

"I have to find her. I don't believe what you said. I know she also loves me." He mumbled on, pleading his case to her.

"If you truly love her, then let her go. If you truly belong together, then you will find each other again at the right time." Lindsey gave her final advice before leaving him to do her work.

He was left with his thoughts, analyzing her words. Lindsey was truly a mother figure to him. He had sought her advice countless times before. This time, he pondered if he should heed her counsel.

Sky left without saying goodbye, no note, or even the impersonal text message. She just vanished without a trace. The only hint that she was real and not just a figment of his imagination was the wet clothes she left in his room.

He also noticed that one of his sweatpants and shirt was missing in his cabinet, so he figured that she might have used it when she left.

Then again, he kept thinking of that last night they were together. Yes, she was agitated when she arrived and some portions of the night, but she was also happy and excited at most part.

When they kissed, he could feel how much she wanted it too. It was not just his imagination. He felt the passion on those lips, the need on her hands as she explored his body. There was no denying that they both craved each others' touch.

The question remained, why did she leave him. Given that she did not proclaim her love for him by not saying the actual words, but her actions ever since they met until last night clearly showed her true feelings for him. He believed they felt the same way.

"Where are you Sky? Why did you leave without even a word?" He took another bottle of beer and chugged a mouthful before settling down on the sofa.

He grabbed the folder lying on top of the coffee table and checked its contents. Looking at the profile of the man recommended to him by a friend as one of the best detectives in the city. He was now contemplating hiring a detective just to find her.

A blurring sound broke the silence in his living room. He wanted to ignore it, but he had been dodging his call since yesterday.

"I hope you are now on your plane traveling out of that isolation you're hiding in." The man on the other line snapped at him. He wanted to throw the phone on the wall opposite him, but that would not help. It would not dull the pain he was feeling at that moment.

"Don't worry. I'll be at the office tomorrow morning as promised, Uncle Jorge." He stated, rubbing his temples, relieving the tension he felt was forming in his head.

"Good. I'll be expecting you to be on your best. You need to impress the board members to get their full cooperation as the new head of the company." His uncle reminded him.

"Be sure to make me proud." He replied. Then, the line went dead. His uncle did not give a damn about phone etiquette.

It was his last day on the island, by tomorrow he had to return to his real responsibilities. He wondered if he should give up on her as she requested.

He thought if he should go to the extreme of having her investigated. He took the file and placed it in his suitcase, which was just beside him. He would decide later if he would use him and continue to pursue searching for her.

"Uncle Raf, do we have to go back tomorrow? We haven't gone surfing yet or did much ever since I arrived. You said you would teach me how to swim faster and surf." Xavier went to his side together with Baxter carrying a ball.

Xavier had kept him company for the past week since her mom left him. He would also be joining him on his way back to the real world.

"Yes, your mom would be arriving by tomorrow too, so she would be expecting you to be back home too. Besides, I need to go back to work." He explained to the young boy.

"But you promised me." Xavier insisted, pouting a bit to show her disappointment.

He did promise him a lot of things that week, but learning that Sky disappeared had him distracted, searching for her.

"What about this? On your vacation, we would come back here together and do all those things I promised. This time I am putting my pinky fingers, so it would be unbreakable." He extended his little finger to him for a pinky promise.

"I'm too old for that," Xavier said. "As long as you promised, I will hold on to your word."

He just realized that his nephew was growing up to be a real fine man. Intelligent and mature for his age. His brother if he was alive would be so proud of him.

If ever he would want a son, he would wish for someone like Xavier. A very responsible boy with a kind heart, but a very smart mind.

Leading him back to Sky. Imagining the two of them building a family together. If only he could find her.

Thanks for all your support and love for the story of Sky and Raf...

Love you all...
