Chapter 7

"Wake up, Princess! It's the first day of your revenge! Better not to be late!" Cavin bellowed, startling me from my sleep, his voice echoing through the room.

My forehead furrowed with his presence in my room. "What are you even doing here?"

I heard him smirk and snort before I felt him move near me and try to cuddle me. "I couldn't sleep again! So, I slept..."

I didn't let him finish when I felt his rough hands touch the bare skin of my waist. I immediately hit him with my elbow and jumped out of bed.

He fell to the floor with a thud and sat on it, rubbing his back. "Ow. That hurt." He complained, his brown eyes looking at me from under dark lashes.

"Dress up, you maniac! We are not kids anymore that you could just barge in here and sleep beside me almost naked!" I snapped while going straight to the bathroom to get ready.

I could still feel my body sore from all the fighting I had yesterday. My head was even spinning. I looked at myself in the mirror; my skin was paler than usual, my eyes looked tired, and my hair hung down loosely.

I got into my nurse uniform; I had some spares whenever I had to sleep in the organization's lair.

But as soon as I stepped outside, my mind was blown by the motorcycle of my dreams parked near the entrance. Cavin was sitting on it wearing a black helmet and a black leather jacket. He slowly removed the helmet and winked at me. His short hazel-colored hair was neatly combed, revealing a strong jawline, and he was very handsome. His eyes were focused solely on me, and his lips curled into a smirk.

"I know, the motorcycle looked great, and this is one of your dream rides, but, admit it or not, it got better with me on it, right? You can take..."

I shut Cavin up by pushing him away from the motorcycle.

"Don't ever get near this beauty again and contaminate it!" I threatened, making him blush profusely and laugh at my reaction.

"I expected a thank you, but you're welcome!" he chuckled softly, tucking his helmet in his left side.

I gave him a death glare and hopped on the motorcycle. "Why would I say thank you anyway? I'm paying you this, so I'll take my leave!"

I kicked the engine on, and my heart raced. The sound of the YZF-R6 was like heaven for me. I drove off, and my hair flew wildly in the wind, my smile was wide enough to split my cheeks.

It didn't take me long to reach the location Mr. Ben sent me.

"Good morning, Ms. Heureu," Mr. Ben said with a smile, as I entered the gates of the rehabilitation center. "Follow me."

I nodded and roamed my eyes around the entire area of the rehab center. It was huge. There were many buildings surrounding it. The place itself was a huge square with grass and flowerbeds planted in front of each building. All the rooms of the center were connected, and multiple staircases were leading to different floors.

The center had the appearance of an old house surrounded by large trees, plants, and flowers. There was a huge fountain in the middle of the yard. The building was old-fashioned yet somehow modern. It had a white, yellow, and green color palette, which blended well.

There were people everywhere walking about with papers or books in their hands. A lady carrying an ice tray passed us. She was dressed in a light blue uniform, which contrasted nicely with her bright red lipstick. She smiled warmly at us.

I followed Mr. Ben outside a small office, where we both stood beside each other. The landscape in front of us seemed more beautiful than any other place I'd ever seen. Birds flew above, and colorful butterflies flitted through the blue skies.

"Do you like the view?" Mr. Ben asked me after a short silence.

I turned to look at him, smiling brightly and nodded. "It was so peaceful."

"Nick has been in rehab here for four years after the accident," Mr. Ben said, sounding a little low.

I wanted to slit a nice grin, but seeing him care about his son was something I had longed for from my father. He did save me four years ago, the first and maybe last time I could remember that he cared about me as his daughter.

But I was surprised by Nick's being in rehab. Because of the accident?

"Nick's room is at the end. Now it's all up to you, Ms. Heureu! I have notified and instructed the hospital about your job promotion. I have also notified the center, so there is nothing else you need to do but support Nick here. As long as you don't mention anything about the accident and the fact that you are his victim, we will all be good," Mr. Ben concluded and left.

"That's it? Just that? Wow!" I was left astounded and infuriated.

For revenge, I'll just let it slide! I stormed my way to the long corridors of the west building and went straight to the last room.

I took a deep breath and knocked calmly at the door, but no one opened it.

I knocked again and again until I had knocked several times.

"Open it!" I yelled, banging on the door as I reached the peak of my patience.

"Stupid!" a man said boastfully behind me.

I slowly turned my gaze to the room across the room where I had been banging for minutes, and I saw Nick standing while sipping a cigarette.

His curly hair hung lowly on his shoulder; this time it was tied in a half-bun with a few loose strands falling over his forehead. Short hair strands stuck out from every direction, making him look wilder than before. There was a thin, cut line above his eyebrow. He wore only gray sweatpants and a loose white t-shirt, but I knew that wasn't what bothered me most. The bruises on his arm and the bandages covering his face said everything about how badly he was hurt, other than the deep cut he had below his ribcage.

"I am not stupid!" I said, trying hard to contain my emotions. "Your father left without even telling me what your room number is!"

"And you'd have to blame it on Ben?" he asked, sounding dissatisfied hearing his father's name.

He threw the cigarette on the ground, crushed it with his foot, and approached me. I took some steps back but he caught me, pinning me against the wall.

"I remember you," Nick said, lowering his head, almost an inch away from my face.

I took a deep gulp as I remembered the medical union night. The night he looked so fragile. But now, even with his rebellious appearance, I couldn't deny that he was really good-looking.

The mole on the lower left side chin and another on the right side of his nose were something that made him look more interesting. Rebellious but fragile.

His body was not as muscular as William's big body, but Nick's muscles were firm enough, and his height was overwhelming.

"Really? So, you didn't recognize me either?" I sounded irritated.

"Kiss me," he suddenly said while looking unsure of me.

I swallowed and remembered the times we kissed, though the second was barely counted. But since I had one goal, and that was to make things harder for him, I smirked before speaking, "Soft or Hard? Where? Here? Or inside your room so we can do something else than just a kiss?" I boldly challenged him.

Nick's eyes widened, and he then moved away from me with his face so surprised before letting out a loud laugh.

"It's you!" he said in astonishment.

"Yeah, great! You remember!" I sounded so sarcastic.

"Ms. Kiss Me Harder,"

"What?"

"Medical Union Night, right? Ferine?"

"Whatever,"

"Are you trying to get my attention?"

I sighed in disgust. "No! I am here to be your nurse! Your father hired me!"

I noticed the change in his facial expression.

"Well, tomorrow, don't bother coming here because you're fired," he said in his lowest, uninterested voice before walking away.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think that would ever happen. Until your Dad kicks me out, you have the honor to graze my beautiful presence."

"You are not beautiful."

"We're not sure; maybe you'll fall in love with me in just a week."

"I only have eyes on Ferine! You won't value anything more than her," he mocked me. "Now get out of my sight!"

What the f*ck!

His nerves! No one had the right to amount my worth to anybody.

Fueling my rage, I slowly walked behind him, my eyes focused solely on him, trying to convince myself not to strike him with a Swiss knife I always carried wherever I went.

How dare he talk down to me without knowing me? My hatred for him grew as much as my hatred for Mr. Ben. I felt like punching and kicking him. This was so unfair. I felt my cheeks burn. I could easily kill him to end all this, but I had to hold myself back for my main reason.

"You will pay..." I was not able to finish what I was about to say when other patients gathered in the middle of the field.

I took a deep breath, calming my nerves down, and followed him as his nurse.

And the day went by as if he was giving me every reason to take his useless life away from him.

He was here because he tried to hit me, but he had not shown any remorse for any of the activities he had scheduled for the day.

Holding a card to report the day's end, I walked to the main office but it came to my knowledge that Nick was missing.

"Argh! Where are you?" I screamed for the fifth time this afternoon.

I had already checked every single room of the facility once, but there was still nothing! Not a clue, not even a hint of a sign of him. He must have disappeared.

"He must have gone out again!" one of the nurses in the center said in a sorrowful voice.

"So he usually goes out?"

"Yes!"

I frowned and asked the nurse where he could have gone.

But then I heard a commotion, and I ran out to see Nick being tackled by the security guards of the center.

He was struggling so hard, hustling the security intentionally, and the security was not even bothering to hurt him back.

It was unbearable to see how the security had to put up with him just because he was the son of one of the most well-known people in the medical industry.

I grinned and saw an opportunity to hurt him without violating any rules.

"Stop!" I yelled and walked towards him.

"Don't butt in, or I'll hurt you!" he said.

"I said, stop. As your..." I was interrupted when Nick's right arm let loose of the security guards' grips and slapped me hard on the face.

My grin grew even wider, and before anyone could react, I gave Nick a strong-ass punch and a kick on his ribs as hard as I could.

He immediately collapsed to the ground, holding his sides and rolling around with his hands wrapped tightly in pain. His wound would surely get the best of him. I watched him with satisfaction and then looked up to see the crowd forming around us. Everyone was talking loudly; some were shaking their heads in pity, and others were looking at us in surprise.

Nurses then helped him up and carried him back to his room.

"You are a lifesaver," one of the nurses told me, before leaving me and Nick alone in the room.

He was tied down in his bed and injected with a tranquilizer.

I smiled and snorted to see how lost he looked so pathetic and a loser.

I could do this as long as I satisfied myself with his misfortunes.

"Sleep tight! I'll see you tomorrow!"

I drove to the hospital to check on William, but I was just about to enter the building when I got a call from the rehab center telling me that Nick got out.

"That ill-headed bastard!" I hissed and was stunned when a Bonneville Bobber stopped in front of me.

"Kill time, princess!" Cavin grinned at me before revving up his engine.
