Chapter 20

"At 10:30 tonight, meet me at the entrance of the forest behind the hospital!" I hissed at Mr. Ben before rushing to leave the room.

However, just as I was about to open the door, I heard a commotion outside, and I heard Niko yell for my name.

"Shoot!" I gasped and stood firmly at the door, looking for something for my defense, while my heart raced in panic.

I slowly walked to the only window across the room and gently peeked outside to scan the surroundings, but I was not surprised that it wasn't just the officers who surrounded the room. I immediately recognized some of my father's pets, disguised as the officers.

"F*k! Things will get bloody!" I hissed once again, realizing that I had less than a five percent chance to get back at Nick tonight.

"Relax! They won't hurt you!" Mr. Ben stood up and walked around the desk before lighting up a cigarette.

Well, father-like son!

"And how would you know that?" I furrowed my face in suspicion. "Did you plan all this?" I shot an accusing look.

Mr. Ben smirked at my accusation and rolled his eyes. "Come on. I am never a good father, but still, I'm a father. They will keep you alive until they get information about Nick. Because he is still alive. If they did not want something from you, they could've killed you already. So, go out, do what you do best, make a scene, then collapse!" He dismissed me with a wave of his hand. "Then let's meet tonight!" he chuckled before letting out an excessive cough.

"Argh! Whatever happens, happens!" I mumbled before bursting the door open, and officers rushed to surround me and grab me, dragging me down to the ground exaggeratedly.

"Get her down! Tie her down!" An officer instructed other men to handcuff me, while two were already pinning me down without even letting me defend myself.

I could have defended myself, but it would be best to just let it slide for now and get back to them when it would be just like an accident.

"Why did you escape? Why did you escape? What are you doing here?" The other officer shouted at me as if I wasn't able to hear him for the first time.

I scoffed at their exaggeration, and that was when I started to put my act in motion, like a nurse who was so concerned for her patient. "Where is Nick? Are you the people who shot him without even hearing his explanations? He must have been so afraid!" I screamed and threw a tantrum until I couldn't feel my body. I was lost as I started to struggle with their grips; it would have been better if I could cry.

My tears were not in any way cooperating, as my rage had already devoured my mind and body for the time being.

"He is dead!" The same officer told me, helping me up from the ground.

"No! No! Let me see him! Let me see him! How could you?" I cried and started to hurl my body, kicking and struggling more to give them a hard time while they dragged me to the police car.

"Heureu, please stop! Let's just go back and rest! Soon you'll be fine!" Niko cut in, trying to calm me down, but some officers pushed him away.

"Stop it! Stop struggling! He is dead, and you will come with us to explain why you went out to follow him!" The officer's voice was stern as he ordered me to stop. His eyes were as soulless and cold as mine while we exchanged killer gazes.

"Wow! Really?" I scoffed at what he just said and stopped struggling. "I had to be treated this way after following my patient? That's absurd! What was wrong about following the patient in times he mostly needed me? Ha?"

I shrugged both of my elbows loose from the other two officers holding me. "I believe you officers were trained and informed how to handle patients who are emotionally unstable, and aggression is the last option; it would just make things worse!"

"He stabbed somebody!" The officer gritted through his teeth.

"Oh? And you believe that?"

"Oh, what do you know?" The officer finally lost his control and slapped me so hard that others who were gathered around gasped in shock while I cringed and stumbled backward slightly, but I was unfazed by his action.

I remained silent and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths and trying to calm my bloodlust. "That's more like it! Finally showing your true nature there, Officer!" I grinned disgustingly, shaking my head a little to shake the slight dizziness I got from his slap.

"You don't know anything! You're just a f*king nurse for crying out loud! Don't pretend you know everything!"

I stared blankly at him, and my blood started to boil. "Oh, I know you very well Officer, all of your kind! The ones who would choose the unjust things for money! Yeah? Isn't that right? You f*king as*les! Your kind knew nothing about remorse, it was always about money, and who was in power! YES! YES! I like that rage in you! Just kill me, ki...ll me! Just like what you did to my brother! He might have taken his own life but it was because you...people who we weak ones supposed to ask for help chose to ignore us! You don't help! You judge and you ignore! You believe based on what you see! I know! I know very well! You killed Nick...because it was easier! Because it was convincing, you never even listened because what's the point, right? He is a rehab patient, he is capable!"  I growled under my breath after finally managing to let out my tears and I could not help to make an outburst.

The story of my brother was true and one of the most painful things that had happened to me. My brother tried to get help and a new life after surrendering to the police, but they did not listen. Because he was a killer, and he chose to carry the burden of the organization to his death.

I saw the moment when his composure was shattered by my remark. His eyebrows narrowed angrily, and a vein bulged dangerously near the side of his eye. "Because all bastards deserve to die! Now shut your mouth!" he roared, punching me several more times.

"Such a disgrace to society!"

"You little sh*t! This will not end well for you!" the officer growled once more before grabbing me tightly by my arm and yanking me forcefully toward the car.

"Don't touch me!" I snarled, but he was quick to hit me in the abdomen before pulling me forcefully inside the vehicle and slamming me against the seat with full force. I fell to the seat and curled into a ball. My vision blurred, and I saw flashes of darkness. But that was because I had to be weak.

"Listen, kid! If you resist, then we will arrest you for assaulting an officer. Do you understand me?" He spat harshly into my face.

I lifted my eyelids slightly, remaining still as heck, to see the officers looking at each other intently, whispering something, and nodding in agreement.

The car drove in silence away from the rehab center, and all I knew was that William was already outside the hospital and immediately took me back to my room, where I was given yet again a sedative to put me to sleep. As the sedative started to take effect, I couldn't help but wonder how William managed to arrange everything so quickly, and before I knew it, I drifted off into a deep slumber.

"Wake up, Princess!"

A muffled voice startled me from my sleep, and I was astounded to realize that a sedative could not put me out of sleep, but a strong drug could.

"You really should get going now."

The voice spoke up again, and I snapped out of bed to see Cavin smiling back at me like a crazy maniac!

"What are you doing here?" I muttered in shock to see him in an officer's uniform and a girl who looked like he hitched from the street.

"Well, you should get back to Nick, right? But things were hard, so I decided to stop by and give you a lift!" He smirked. "Go now!"

"But...who is she?"

"She'll be you for the meantime. While I do her, do your thing! Enough with the chat; go see you, Princess, who did nothing but mumble your name the whole day!"

"Shut up!" I hissed at him and immediately changed into the clothes he tossed me and ran outside.

I saw the huge clock by the corridor, and it was almost midnight, but what halted me was to see Ferine wheeling out of William's office weakly in her wheelchair.

She saw me, and our eyes met each other. Her face suddenly filled with terror once she recognized me, and I could not help but snort at the unwanted collision. "What a waste of time!" I hissed before rushing to her, pushing the wheelchair back to William's office.

"Heureu!" William shot up from his seat, but I shot him back a raging look.

"You, what's your deal with Nick? What's up with him going crazy with you? He kept going to you even if you kept on pushing him away! Answer me!" I yelled at her with no signs of hesitation.

Ferine did not even flinch, the look of fear washed away from her face and she smirked. "You are devoted to him, ha?! Well, your patient stabbed me because he had been antagonizing me for a year to hand him the recording of him hitting someone four years ago!"

Recording!
