33 Wave 2

Buster looked towards Alex and said, "I need to have a proper conversation with you after all of this ends." He seemed to be shocked that Alex didn't even react to the reaper speaking. He then looked towards midnight, "It's okay, all you have to do is daze them. Alex and I will take care of them. I don't think the one that just spoke was lying. Looking at the size of the gate, I don't think we will have to deal with the reapers as they will most likely weaker than us." Buster said with a look of confidence.

He then looked towards Alex one more time, "You also look out, They may be easy to handle for me but you're only a C rank. They might be a challenge. So, If you feel like you need help, just call. Midnight will stun them just long enough for you to retreat and give me time to deal with them."

Alex nodded, He knew that he wasn't strong enough to deal with them all so he did need a way out. He smiled and looked towards Buster, 'He really is looking out for me. A good man, I must say.' Alex said as he took out the reaper's dagger.

The gate started to rumble.

[Wave 2]

'Wave 2?' Alex looked at his prompt in a confused expression. 'I guess it makes sense as I dealt with a smaller wave before this one evolved but still, this system is describing it as it expected the gate to evolve… But, I don't know anymore. This system is confusing, For now, I'll just go with the flow.'

He grasped the dagger and was ready to battle. 'This time, I'll use the reaper's slash ability.' Alex said as he waited for the reapers to appear.

"KEKE"

The chilling laugh of a reaper came from within the gates. Everyone stood battle-ready for it to walk out.

"KEKE" "KEKE" "KEKE"

One by one, a dozen reapers walked out, Some held bows while some were close ranged. They stood in a simple formation.

Buster took a deep breath, "I hate to say it but we might need to capture one alive. These reapers are different, they have a blue glowing gem around on their chest." He seemed to dread the thought of taking one alive.

"Alex, you can deal with them but try to leave one alive. I will take on the close-ranged reapers while you take on the ranged reapers. They're weaker and easier to deal with when you're close to them." Buster said as he ran towards the reapers.

Alex nodded, he looked towards Midnight who seemed to take a big breath. 'I want to see her powers but I should focus on the long ranged reapers. By the looks of them, they all seemed to be around 15-20 levels but those close range reapers, I can't see their levels... This will be difficult but I can do it!' Alex didn't have to worry about the close ranged reapers as buster said that he would take care of them all.

Alex ran around the area and towards the Long Ranged reapers at the back. He hoped that the reapers could put all their attention on buster so he could have a jump on the reapers, killing as much as he could from a surprise attack. However, the reapers seemed to instantly notice Alex's plan to flank them and put all their attention on Alex. 'Shit, There are 3 of them. All are aiming towards me.' Alex was ready to activate Might to dodge the arrow.

However, before the three could shoot their arrows, A sweet voice entered their ears. As soon as it did, All 3 long ranged reapers suddenly dropped their guard. It was not only the long ranged reapers, but the close range reapers as well seemed to have dropped their guards.

Alex took this time as the perfect opportunity to activate might. He knew that he could take down at least one reaper.

Alex rushed towards the long ranged reaper and activated the reaper's slash ability. Alex attacked towards the closest reaper, as he did, he felt like his whole body accelerated towards the reaper. The next thing he knew, the dagger was already lodged in the reaper's throat, instantly killing it.

Alex couldn't think too much about what was happening. The daze effect on the reapers was already gone, But Buster was already nearly finished with the close ranged reapers. All Alex had to do was take down one more. And the last one would be captured.

He quickly grasped the dagger and used the reaper's slash ability once more. Zooming towards the second reaper. However, this time, it only slashed the reaper's arm. Alex shook his head and looked at his stats.

[Mana- 4]

'I can't use the slash anymore.' Alex now had to take down the reaper with his own ability and the enhanced strength of Might.

He had a plan. Alex threw the dagger towards the reaper and followed behind the dagger. However, the reaper jumped to the side and dodged the dagger. However, Alex didn't stop running. He continued to run straight. 'These reapers lined up, who said that I need to take down this reaper when I can take down the other one which got distracted my Buster.'

Alex ran straight towards the reaper and punched it in the stomach.

"KUU" The reaper screamed in pain as it flew to the wall. Alex however, didn't stop, he ran towards the reaper again and punched it once more. This time, towards its neck.

"KAAAA!" The reaper howled in pain as blood started to escape from its mouth. Alex knew what he had done, 'They have similar body structure to us. The main vein in its neck much be ruptured so there is no way that it can survive. It's as good as dead.' Alex said as he looked back towards the final long ranged reaper. However, he didn't need to stress about capturing it. As soon as he turned, Alex saw the reaper, already on the floor. Midnight seemed to have incapacitated it.
